During the Victorian Era, Queen Victoria was crowned in 1837 but the main point was that women would get married and all her belongings belonged to their husbands due to how they had no rights to even inherit money from their families. They could not divorce their husbands but only the men had the rights to divorce their wives if they (the wives) committed adultery and they would get custody of their children and the women were not allowed to keep them.

In Henrick Ibsen’s play “A Doll House”, Ibsen portrays his characters as how the Victorian people were especially when it came to money. He conveys that money has enhanced Nora’s character. Nora is constantly accused of wasting money when in reality she keeps barely anything for herself all in an effort to pay back the loan that saved her husband’s life. This is significant Nora’s enhancement of money because she doesn’t use money for corruption but to support and keep her husband alive.

In “Return of the Native” by Thomas Hardy, he portrays that people marry for the money but not for love but is also basically that humans suffered just to get what they want and be happy just like in the novel “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen, she portrays that being wealthy was very important to every individual and women had to depend in men in order to get what they want and not loose their priorities as long as they are always wealthy.

In the Middle of the Ages, there was war over land and power. Slaves were tortured, bought, sold, and killed for the wrong they did or a simple mistake. People worked very hard just to survive. During the Renaissance period, that is when art started to be known and had become popular and more scholars had been discovered. It began in Italy but quickly spread throughout Europe and changed everything from art to government to religion.

During the Georgian Era, the upper class were becoming more wealthy due to the price of land increasing which caused the middle class to almost have the same lifestyle as them but the lower class was not lucky. There was very low food supplies for them, diseases spread and they had to work for hours in order to maintain their families. As for the children, they were also put to work just like in the poem we read in class “Chimney Sweepers”, the kids suffered while their parents thought they had a very happy life when in reality they didn’t.

The Romanticism were art seem to be very popular with people who used it as a way to show their emotion through their aspects of their work. Many people thought it was an easier way to show the way they felt and the majority was about nature. The paintings that were more known were like nature, animals, and humans but is not like today were they took a picture and painted it.

In F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, “The Great Gatsby”, he portrays that men were motivated to win a girl’s heart and that they would do anything to fulfill their American Dream.

In the novel “Mice and Men” by John Stanbeek, he portrays that money is more important to friendship and how that mostly people valued money than anything else.

Over the years, the world has changed and now things have become more advanced like it has never been before, Through times things have become more improved and without having all the events that happened during the eras, than NOW wouldn’t be the same as it is.
