What is a learning style? A learning style is the way an individuals learns. To understand a learning style, consider tasks you have learned to do well, and then consider other tasks that tend to be difficult for you. Everyone has a variety of learning styles, which is their unique approach to learning. To find out what learning styles you possess, take the “Learning-Style Questionnaire.” When I took the questionnaire, it identified different aspects of my learning styles, how I approached the processing and taking in of information and gave me a better insight into myself overall.
The majority of the results from the questionnaire were refreshingly accurate. I related to the results not only in a classroom environment, but also as a lifestyle barometer following me throughout my daily interactions. The portions of the questionnaire that did not accurately describe me were based on different settings interacting with completely different mediums and under different circumstances.
I agree with the spatial learner aspect of the results. I experience it first hand when I feel the need to buy construction paper, scissors, glue and markers to create tangible objects driving home the workings of networking devices. Or, I realize my propensity as a visual learner, when I go to the video library or attend workshops on the step by step process of how to create culinary dishes.
In part five of the questionnaire, I disagree with my low creative score. However, when I answered the questions, I did it from a classroom perspective that analytically demands order, rules and practicality in a more structured setting. But when it comes to being in an environment of food preparation, not that a culinary setting is not structured, I selected all the creative responses. I am totally a creative learner in that setting. There is no in between.
