First draft.
Is Walmart good or bad for America? Throw the years Walmart have expanded more and more , and attracted more customers
And employee’s .Some people can’t live without Walmart ,Some shop at Walmart and other work there , but not everyone is a fan of Walmart .Walmart also do a lot of good things to the community ,But the question here does Walmart do more good stuff to the community or does they make the community even more worse?

Lets start and talk about the good stuff that Walmart do. They're cheap which helps low income families or people who just want cheap stuff. One-stop shopping is also a huge plus for a lot of people save time, gas, and money. You might have to turn some of the bad into a bit of good. For one, retail employment growth - they open a lot of jobs for a lot of people, and you can find all you can need in Walmart from food to tires to pet supplies , so you wont have to go to ten stores to buy you’re stuff , and they are one of the cheapest stores in America.

Is Walmart bad for America? Over 100 million customers visit Wal-Mart every single week in this country, but is it good for America. and that question cannot be answered , because the reason that people hate Walmart is the same reason that the other half of America love Walmart .And that is what they want .Walmart god so big that they started paying people less than the minimum wage , and they couldn’t care less. In 2010, Wal-Mart had revenues of 421 billion dollars. That amount was greater than the GDP of 170 different countries including Norway, Venezuela and the United Arab Emirates. If Wal-Mart was a nation, it would have the 23rd largest GDP in the world. So in conclusion nobody can say is Walmart good or bad it helps some people and other hate the name Walmart

Why Is Civil Disobedience Still Relevant Today

...felt strongly about it, dedicating a whole essay as well as spending a night in jail for paying his taxes in protest of the unjust mexican american war. Civil disobedience is a form of protesting that most likely will result in legal repercussions, thus making it a more extreme form of protesting. Thoreau wrote about Civil Disobedience and the need for it is still relevant today. In thoreau’s time period he believed more men needed to stand up for what they believed in. He tried his best in not paying his taxes because he thought that by doing so he was funding the army that was fighting an unjust war. This was the mexican american war. By not paying his taxes Thoreau ended up having to go to jail and spent a night in jail. Thoreau also stood against slavery, he believed “According to "Civil Disobedience," the symbolism of a public act of principled defiance would galvanize the nation and lead quickly to the abolition of slavery” . Thoreau opens his essay stating that "That government is best which governs least.” showing his disdain with the american government and their unethical legislature. He believed justice was only achieved...

...Quan Zhang ( Lyla) Royal Roads University Elvira Perrella March 9, 2015 Sweatshop is Conflicts With the Moral Standards Green, B., & Norton, S. (2011). Reading. In. W, Anne & M. Laura ( Eds.), Essay essentials with readings (pp. 336- 341). Toronto, ON: Nelson Education Ltd. In the article, before the research, like many people, the author’s attitude was old, but after the research, the author’s attitude changed. The author chose the country of Bangladeshi to illustrate her point that working in a sweatshop can be a positive experience for women in developing countries by focusing primarily on one country. First, she argued that sweatshops offer jobs for women and give them the opportunity to improve the quality of their lives. Second, women can experience some independence about managing their finances and choosing their marriages although they have the small income. In this article, the author used others’ opinion, details and facts to develop her topic. The data and cases were enough to prove the argument, and the evidence was very creditable and believable. Although this article argued in the opposite way with me, it gave my article a new perspective about the sweatshop labors. What's more, the author gave me a good evidence about counterargument, which work at the sweatshop is better than no jobs. Then I can refutation this counterargument that the sweatshop conflicts with the moral standards. In this way, I can make my argument stronger. ...

Compare and Contrast Essay

...Compare and contrast the strategies of Carrefour and Walmart in the Chinese market Although the whole world has been affected by global recession, China’s economy still grows in a rapid rate compared with other countries’. Furthermore, the expansion of China’s retail market has attracted world’s largest retailers, Walmart and Carrefour, to pile in. The expansion strategies of the two global retailers seem to play a crucial role in the competition in China. Thus both similarities and differences of strategies are worth considering and will be respectively analyzed in the essay. One of the most significant similarities of Walmart and Carrefour’s strategies is that both of them learn about the diversity of regions and customers. Ed Chan, the Walmart China’s CEO, pointed out that not only income level, but also customer preferences were affected by the regional diversity (McKinsey Quarterly, 2009). It suggests that from coastal area to inland regions, the economy is less developed and the income level is accordingly lower. As a result, customer preferences vary from the eastern to the western part of China (McKinsey Quarterly, 2009). Similarly, Carrefour treats coastal and inland customers respectively to adapt to region differences in China. For instance, live fish is displayed to customers in fresh area but frozen fish is sold to people in vast regions according to the diversity of their preferences (Child, 2006). Another similarity is that in addition to coastal cities...

Black Friday, the Retail Holiday

...Retail Holiday Black Friday is the biggest shopping day in the United States of America. Forget about Thanksgiving, Black Friday is the truly notable holiday for a lot of shoppers. In this essay, I am going to discuss about how Black Friday began and how it is changing, how business make business on that day, the pricing strategies and competition, and the implications for employees. It is hard to tell when the day after Thanksgiving became a retail behemoth, but it probably started on late 19th century. At that time, department stores such as Macy and Eaton sponsored the holiday parades. These parades gave stores an opportunity to begin advertising holiday sales. This turned into a result in a lot of people going shopping after the parades were over. It wasn’t called Black Friday until 1966. Originally in Philadelphia, on the shopping day after Thanksgiving, it was a massive traffic jams and over-crowded sidewalks as the downtown stores are mobbed from opening to closing. So, Philadelphia police and bus drivers call it "Black Friday". I think Black Friday makes good business sense to major retailers. It brings a good opportunity to retailers to sale their products. It is a good time for major retailers to make profits. But, on the other hand, I think Black Friday could hurt small or local business. It is hard for small or local retailers to compete with major retailers like Walmart or Target. Major retailers have a variety of things on sale on Black Friday while small or local...

Inventory Management

...efficiency of these companies daily business. The research I have done will speak a little about the transition from the old time consuming tracking to today’s electronic system. I will also provide my ideas of how to improve inventory manager in the future. Service is one of the largest parts of development in business. Being able to provide quality service depends in part on inventory and the management of it. These two very important business elements always lead back to the customer. And this is how I chose the companies I wanted to compare and contrast for this essay. The two service companies I chose are Walmart and Target. As most people know Walmart was founded in 1962 by Sam Walton. When Sam began his business his main focus was small town and low prices. He planned a sneak attack and was able to establish himself as one of the top competitors with big names like Target and Kmart. Target is a division of the Dayton Hudson Corporation and was also started in 1962. With the same goal in mind Target stores were opened to offer the customers quality goods with low prices. These two companies were both started with a similar practice for success but they had different ways of getting the job done. So how do they continue to meet the demands of their customers? The answer goes beyond just service it is inventory. Inventory is the quantity goods that are held for use. In the case of both Walmart and Target the majority of their inventory is held on site in the store. In order...

Aldi: Concuring the Us Market

...recovering and the household disposable income further expand, it would be reasonable to assume, this trend should slightly increase over the next few years generating a steady stream of revenue. This essay would critically discuss and analyze the attractiveness of U.S. supermarket industry based on Porter’s five competitive forces namely the threat of entry, the threat of substitutes, the power of buyers, the power of suppliers and the competitive rivalry. The threat of entry: like any other attractive industry, the U.S. supermarket industry has a high barriers to entry that is the factors that need to overcome by new entrants if they are to compete in the industry. These barriers includes differentiation of products and services, legislation, expected retaliation, scale and experience and so forth. According to Porter, high barriers to entry is an advantage for incumbents relative to new entrants. Example of the actor would be Tesco (U.K.), Carrefour (France). The threat of substitutes: substitutes are products or services that offer similar benefit to the industry’s products or services but by a different process. Managers often focus on their competitors in their industry and ignore the potential threat posed by substitutes. Porter emphasis two important points to bear in mind about substitutes that are the price/performance ratio and the extra-industry effects. Aldi’s U.S. marketing research shows that its unique operating style...
