Over the years I've been very involved in my church in areas such as; helping where I am needed, teaching third grade Sunday school, and going on mission trips to Port Saint Joe, FL and Spain. Being active in my church has intensified my compassion for serving and has also played a significant role in the career path I have chosen. Based on my interest in health and science paired with the love I have for helping others, I want to be a Pharmacist. I will be interacting with people regularly and I'll have the opportunity to establish relationships while creating a positive atmosphere. Nothing makes me more happy than to think I can serve others by supplying them with the medicine while providing the encouragement that everyone deserves to hear. My dilemma is my financial and family situation. Neither of my parents went to college, and my dad hasn't expected me to go either. Throughout my life my family has constantly struggled financially, as a result, I have become very familiar with living paycheck to paycheck with nothing to spare in between. My parents got a divorce which increased the difficulty of our financial situation. I realized before high school that if I wanted to go to college and have a better outcome than my parents, I would have to do it myself. From the time I started high school I made it a goal that school would be my highest priority and I would give my best to accomplish any task that was handed to me. Between sophomore and junior year I decided that I wanted to attend Auburn University in hopes of becoming a successful pharmacist. The priority became making a high ACT score; my single mom paid for every test and three different ACT tutors. Even though my mom struggles to support three teenagers, she has gone above and beyond to help me go to college. My dad did not find it necessary to take the ACT repeatedly or invest in a tutor. I want to

...Tips for Scholarship Applications and Personal Essays* Getting Started Before you start filling out your scholarship applications, you need to spend some time thinking about how to write a scholarship essay that will get the results that you want. For many students, the hardest part of writing a scholarship essay is getting comfortable with highlighting your accomplishments. Students often see this as bragging about themselves. But this is exactly what you need to do in order to convince the judges that you should receive the scholarship instead of the other applicants, you have to tell the judges what makes you a better candidate. Therefore, one of the most important things you have to do when getting ready to write your college scholarship essays is to spend some time reflecting on just how wonderful you really are. When you write down all of the great things you have accomplished, it will be much easier for you to create an essay that conveys your strong points to the judges. Tips for getting ready to write a strong essay: 1. Make a list of all your accomplishments. 2. Develop a list of your extracurricular activities. 3. Write down the three accomplishments of which you are the most proud. 4. Think of a problem that you have faced and write down how you were able to overcome it. 5. Put in writing your career goals, or your reason for wanting to attend college. 6. Pretend that you had to write a letter of recommendation for yourself. Write down the three most important things...

The next step you have to do is gather supplemental materials, and then you have to interview for admission if necessary. In your interview you will tell them about yourself and why you want to go to that college and then your hobbies and what you do, or what you want to major in. College Composition Course Analysis

...A majority of the scholarship essays that are out there don’t have to be very long, mostly 500 to 1500 words, and Mr. Evans taught us how to fit a lot of detail into 500 words. He also taught us how the structure of such essay should be and what we shouldn’t put in that type of an essay, like not putting any sob stories in them. A college doesn’t want to read about how one of your family members passed away recently, they want you to answer the underlying question that is in nearly all of the prompts a scholarship essay would...

Free Application For Student Aid (FAFSA)

...Free Application For Student Aid (FAFSA) is the only financial assistance that they have. That is not the case and it is not true. There are scholarships for honestly everything and students do not take advantage of that. Thousands of dollars are left unreceived because students do not look for the "free money." I am a person who likes to help people as much as I can without doing all the work. So with my peers and my friends, I help them look for scholarships that pertain to their field or intended major. After giving them a couple of potential scholarships, I tell them that there are scholarships for everything if one looks for it. The more one applies for scholarships the higher the chances are to receive a scholarship. That is another pitfall that students make; they only apply for one or two scholarships....
