The character Alby demonstrates determination, participation, and respect in James Dashner’s The Maze Runner. Alby shows determination as a leader when Teresa first arrives to the Glade in the Box and he disciplines the med-jacks by warning them if anyone touched her, that person would sleep in the Maze (Dashner 59). As a leader, he is determined to keep an order in the Glade and to keep everyone safe that he even goes to the extend of shooting Ben when he tries to kill Thomas, calling him “evil” (Dashner 74). Alby is participant when he gets water for Minho even if he wants an answer to why Minho is so agitated after coming out of the Maze (Dashner 81).
