Essay Four

...ESSAY FOUR When someone asks for a list of the most dangerous dog breeds the first breeds that might come to mind would be the pit-bull, maybe the Rottweiler or Doberman. Those would be incorrect however. Believe it or not, there are more bites by lap dogs like the Shitsu, Yorkie than there are by some incorrectly labeled "aggressive" breeds. In studies the giant schnauzer took first place with the most incidents of bites followed closely by the Akita and Chow. As a general whole however we must remember that it is socialization, breeding and training that sculpt of a dog and its likelihood of incident rather than breed alone. I am dye hard animal lover especially for Pit-bulls and Bullmastiff breed. I cry when I see ASPCA television commercials. Having a three year old little girl and having a love for such big breed like the Mastiff and misunderstood pit-bull choosing the right breed to be around your children is very important. The question really is “What is the best dog for kids?” This is a common question, but there is no solid answer. In theory, almost any dog has the potential to get along great with children. One can speculate about which breeds “might” be best for kids, but you just never know how each individual dog will turn out. There are many factors that affect a dog’s ability to get along well with kids. Here are several things that you will need to keep in mind before you get a family dog. Obedience training is absolutely essential! Make sure someone in...

Pitbull Research Paper

...Nicole Van Miss Ward Period 5/6 March 8, 2024 Pitbull Essay Golden Retrievers and Beagles are known to have fantastic temperaments, and it may be surprising, but pit bulls do too. Pit bulls are athletic and strong dogs that come from Bulldogs and Terriers who were crossbred to make a working and fighting breed. The core of the breed is made up of three dogs, the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, and Staffordshire, while the term “Pit Bull” is used to refer to them. Pit bulls are misconceived to be vicious and dangerous for a variety of reasons. Considering their bad reputation, they should be legally allowed as pets for the reason that they are trainable, great companions, and their invalid history is the reason for the continuous comments...

Animal Rights: Abuse And Neglect

...Animal Rights: Abuse and Neglect Essay Animal rights are considerably lower than human rights, which makes sense due humans academic knowledge, religious and spiritual knowledge and communication. What does not make sense is the cruelty that is subjected onto the animal by these “higher beings”. If humans are so much higher on the totem pole, then why are they the one’s acting as the true beast? They beat, exploit, and even kill animals for their own gain; the animals’ have no real rights in the United States and they cannot stand up for themselves. Many people and bystanders watch as animals are abused and neglected, and never stand up for the innocent animal. Due to this oversight of animal rights many animals are neglected and abused every...

Literary Techniques Used In Malcolm Gladwell's 'Troublemakers'

...lot of these laws are written, pit bulls are whatever they say they are," Lora Brashears, a kennel manager in Pennsylvania, says. "And for most people it just means big, nasty, scary dog that bites" (“Troublemakers”). Gladwell uses ethos show ethos because the author is quoting a kennel manger on her stand of how foolish it is to ban pit bulls. The kennel manager is obviously very educated in animals since it is her profession. Gladwell also appeals to ethos when he cites a credible source, “Randall Lockwood, a senior vice-president of the A.S.P.C.A. and one of the country's leading dog bite experts, told me …” (“Troublemakers”). Gladwell proves ethos because the author is quoting Randall Lockwood who is the senior vice president of ASPCA, along with being the country’s leading dog bite expert. By citing solid credible and important figures, Gladwell builds credibility and trust throughout his audience, better aiding him getting his argument across. Finally, Gladwell uses the third classical appeal, pathos to convince his readers of his argument. Pathos means to appeal to an audience by using emotion to create a response in the audience. When Gladwell asks, “How do we know when we've made the right generalization?” (“Troublemakers”). Gladwell proves pathos because it is trying to persuade the audience to not generalize by creating guilt in them saying that the audience chooses how they view and generalize a situation. Gladwell also appeals to pathos when he states, “These...

Cruel Games

...Katherine Kersey Dec-06-2013 Argument Research Essay English Comp Cruel Games Dogs are human’s best friends. While some people choose to treat dogs with kindness and respect, others are mistreating dogs by using them for their entertainment. Dog fighting is still occurring today. It is big business in many parts of the county. This often happens in areas where there is poverty. Dog fighting is seen as “the quick” money. Some highly organized groups even use a secret dialect called the “Cajon Dictionary” on social network sites to plan fighting events discretely. This cruelty is also most often linked between more crimes including; illegal firearms possession, drug trafficking, gambling, spousal and child abuse, rape, and homicide. Regardless of if you can make money from it or not, dog fighting is a very cruel activity that should never occur anywhere in the world. A dog cannot speak for itself and say, “Stop!” That’s why more people need to be aware of this epidemic and see what is being done to help end it. Ancient Romans pitted dogs against each other in gladiatorial contests, but dogs have also played practical roles in society. Dogs have long been used as hunting companions, defenders of property and protectors of livestock against poachers and wild animals. They play key roles in military and K-9 police units. French bulldogs and Old Boston Bulldogs killed household vermin and therefore made valuable pets. “In England, bulldogs that were crossbred with terriers...

...UNIT 1- CAR BODY DETAILS Cars can come in a large variety of different body styles. Some are still in production, while others are of historical interest only. These styles are largely (though not completely) independent of a car's classification in terms of price, size and intended broad market; the same car model might be available in multiple body styles (or model ranges). For some of the following terms, especially relating to four-wheel drive / SUV models and minivan / MPV models, the distinction between body style and classification is particularly narrow. Please note that while each body style has a historical and technical definition, in common usage such definitions are often blurred. Over time, the common usage of each term evolves. For example, people often call 4-passenger sport coupés a "sports car", while purists will insist that a sports car by definition is limited to two-place vehicles. Body work In automotive engineering, the bodywork of an automobile is the structure which protects: ⦁ The occupants ⦁ Any other payload ⦁ The mechanical components. In vehicles with a separate frame or chassis, the term bodywork is normally applied to only the non-structural panels, including doors and other movable panels, but it may also be used more generally to include the structural components which support the mechanical components. Construction There are three main types of automotive bodywork: ⦁ The first automobiles were designs...
