In 1775, during The Revolutionary War, a young girl named Laodicea “Dicey” Langston could not or would not do. She went against loyalists, Tories, and The Bloody Scouts.She risked death and set out on many courageous journeys for the patriot cause. Dicey Langston partook in many exploits and risked her life while doing so, for her country.She was famously known for her own ”midnight ride”,but she also did favours for the whigs, she saved her father,and she disinformed Tories many times. Dicey once was asked to hold a weapon and hide it for her brother, and his troops would soon come get it. After Dicey’s famous midnight journey The Bloody Scouts, an outlawed group of Tories, came to her house seeking “vengeance” on the family’s men. meaning they were going to kill them.None the sons were home, but the Tories found her father they held him at gunpoint. When Dicey saw, she jumped in front of him and protected him telling them to shoot her first if her father has to be killed. People believe The Bloody Scouts were inspired by her bravery and left her house without hurting anyone. In another instance Dicey was walking home from informing whigs of the Tories’ plans, when a group of Tories approached her and demanded to know where she came from and who she was contacting. She refused to tell them who she was informing. The leader was becoming angered and her his gun to her chest, once more demanding information. she again refused then put a handkerchief over the area he was going to shoot. The man pulled the trigger but another of his men pushed the gun and it shot into the sky, instead of it’s original target. The man that directed the gun away from her heart must have been touched by her courage and impressed by her loyalty and strong will. Dicey walked home seemingly
