I want to be in the Sabers honor club because I want to show people I am in JROTC to grow as a leader not to play around. Being on Sabers will help me grow as a leader because I have a fear of talking in front of a big group of people but, when we have to give our ideas on how to improve JROTC or when we come up with fundraising plans it will help me get out of my comfort zone. In addition, I have a loud, persuasive voice so when I have an idea on how to improve JROTC, I will be able to present my ideas. I love talking in front of a big group when I have passion about a topic or task so, this will help show that I want to improve JROTC. I am a part of a lot of extra curricular activities but, I still maintain straight A's so, I would be able to help tutor cadets. In addition, you need to be organized because when one has to plan an event they need to organize everything by time, where, when, what they need and et cetera. One of my best qualifications is organization therefore, I would be able to plan events smoothly. Furthermore, if you want to be on Sabers, you need to be dedicated and productive. If one is not dedicated or productive you will not be able to get work done. I am a productive person therefore, I would be able to manage my time wisely and get work done. Lastly, I am dedicated therefore, I will always try my hardest and I will never give up no matter the challenges or obstacles I

The characteristic I think I need to improve is that I do not know where to start when doing a project, essay, etc. 3. The way I think I can improve the characteristic of not checking for accuracy is by starting to re-check every step of the problem, going step by step approaching all the details, and re-read the instructions from the beginning, to avoid any guessing. Another way to improve is try to carry-out a self- testing procedure and test my own answers by not following my intuition and check for accuracy in my answers before finish and handle the assignment. 4. No God , Not Even Allah

...No God, not even Allah Ex-Muslim atheists are becoming more outspoken, but tolerance is still rare Nov 24th 2012 A MOB attacked Alexander Aan even before an Indonesian court in June jailed him for two and a half years for “inciting religious hatred”. His crime was to write “God does not exist” on a Facebook group he had founded for atheists in Minang, a province of the world’s most populous Muslim nation. Like most non-believers in Islamic regions, he was brought up as a Muslim. And like many who profess godlessness openly, he has been punished. In a handful of majority-Muslim countries atheists can live safely, if quietly; Turkey is one example, Lebanon another. None makes atheism a specific crime. But none gives atheists legal protection or recognition. Indonesia, for example, demands that people declare themselves as one of six religions; atheism and agnosticism do not count. Egypt’s draft constitution makes room for only three faiths: Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Sharia law, which covers only Muslims unless incorporated into national law, assumes people are born into their parents’ religion. Thus ex-Muslim atheists are guilty of apostasy—a hudud crime against God, like adultery and drinking alcohol. Potential sanctions can be severe: eight states, including Iran, Saudi Arabia, Mauritania and Sudan have the death penalty on their statute books for such offences. In reality such punishments are rarely meted out. Most atheists are prosecuted for blasphemy or for...

Lazarillo

...Prof.

...churches the pastors preached devotion to flag and country, and invoked the God of Battles, beseeching His aid in our good cause in outpouring of fervid eloquence which moved every listener. It was indeed a glad and gracious time, and the half dozen rash spirits that ventured to disapprove of the war and cast a doubt upon its righteousness straightway got such a stern and angry warning that for their personal safety’s sake they quickly shrank out of sight and offended no more in that way. Sunday morning came — next day the battalions would leave for the front; the church was filled; the volunteers were there, their young faces alight with martial dreams — visions of the stern advance, the gathering momentum, the rushing charge, the flashing sabers, the flight of the foe, the tumult, the enveloping smoke, the fierce pursuit, the surrender — them home from the war, bronzed heroes, welcomed, adored, submerged in golden seas of glory! With the volunteers sat their dear ones, proud, happy,...

In What Ways Can the Representation of the Family in Nada Be Read as a Microcosm of Spanish Society in the Immediate Post-Civil War Era?

...Assessed Essay In what ways can the representation of the family in Nada be read as a microcosm of Spanish society in the immediate post-Civil War era? Carmén Laforet's first novel, “Nada” is set in the war torn city of 1940's Barcelona, and depicts the aspiration of a young woman arriving to the city. This protagonist, Andrea, has her dreams quickly shattered as she witnesses, from the shadows, the chaos and mental and physical torment within the house. The novel is loosely based on Laforet's own experiences, her circumstances are very similar to that of Andrea; in the novel Andrea expects to find joy and love within her grandparents house in Barcelona, as she lived there as a child, however her hopes of this are quickly shattered,“cuando yo era la única nieta pasé alli las temporadas más excitantes de mi vida infantíl...¿todo esto podíá estar tan lejano?” (p22) Even though, taken literally, the narrator is reminiscing over earlier, happier times spent in the house, it echoes memories of Spain in general before the Civil War. Laforet herself was born in Barcelona and both Andrea and Laforet moved away as children and returned during the early 1940's in their late teens to study at the University of Barcelona. From this, Laforet experienced the struggles of post-war Spanish society first hand and evidence of this pervades the novel, drawing a picture of the times, which are not only represented in the city, but almost metaphorically in the household in which the majority...

Hello

...“It is agreed, in this country, that if a man can arrange his religion so that it perfectly satisfies his conscience, it is not incumbent upon him to care whether the arrangement is satisfactory to anyone else or not.” – Mark Twain (476) Introduction Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known by his pen name Mark Twain, traveled the world and got to know imperialistic endeavors from many different nations. After he returned to America on 15 October 1900, he joined the “Anti-Imperialist League” and actively opposed policies of the United States and Great Britain (William D. Howells and Mark Twain 723). In 1905, Mark Twain composed the short story The War Prayer in an effort to open the eyes to patriotic, war-loving people. This term paper will be a close-reading on Twain’s short story The War Prayer. The focus will not be on what was said about this short story by other authors, but rather give an explanation and deeper understanding on its satirical criticism on people’s patriotism and their glorification of war. The First Paragraph “It was a time of great and exalting excitement” (Twain 652). After reading these first nine words in Mark Twain’s The War Prayer one expects the time of “great and exalting excitement” to be one of technological advances or economic strength, or at least having to do with another peaceful connotation. Twain diverts these associations with his satirical competence by writing “The country was up in arms, the war was on . . .” Therefore, a “time...

...ECO1011S: ESSAY The South African government’s recognition of the critical need for infrastructure investment is exemplified by the creation of the Presidential Infrastructure Coordinating Commission (PICC) in April 2012. However, 76% (R58.5 billion) of new infrastructure developments in 2011 came from the private sector (Munshi, 2012). An analysis of the importance of investment and investment rates for economic growth and employment, the relevance of South Africa’s capacity utilisation level and its relationship to businesses’ cash stockpiles, and the government’s New Growth Plan will give an overview of South Africa’s current and future investment level, and its implications for economic prosperity. Public and private investment and increased investment rates are vital for current and future economic growth. An increase in government spending on goods and services and/or a fall in the interest rate causes the aggregate demand curve to shift to the right, which leads to an increase in Real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) (Parkin et al, 2010): Figure 1 (Parkin et al, 2010: pg 615) 615) Workers are hired by firms to enable expanded production, and the unemployment levels decrease. However, there is no guarantee as to the extent of this causal effect, as the relationship between economic growth and job creation has weakened over the past few decades, due to labour regulations and growth in high-skilled areas (Neethling, 2012): Figure 2 (Neethling, 2012) Investment...
