“The Pigman” by Paul Zindel was a creative story that should be read by middle school students in the eighth grade and/or older.
“The Pigman” mainly takes place on 190 Howard Avenue. . . . . YU1-6994, or commonly knowns as Mr. Pignati’s house, over the course of a few months during the winter.
Lorraine and John are both sophomores (in the 10th grade) at Franklin High. John lives with his father, mother, and older successful brother. He has an unsteady relationship with his parents; arguing a lot, gets himself in trouble frequently, doesn’t listen and doesn’t receive any discipline. He also really hates school. Lorraine lives with her mother who works hard to raise just enough money to support both of them, and are tight on surplus money. Her mother is very over protective but wants the best for Lorraine. Mr. Pignati is an older man who lives by himself whose wife passed away a little while ago. He often enjoys visiting a baboon, Bobo, at the zoo. Mr. Pignati always has a warming smile on his face and enjoys company. Norton, also a sophomore at Franklin High, is a flat out trouble maker. …show more content…
I literally could not put the book down! The story made me thankful for the relationship I have with my family and friends. During some parts of the story I felt sorry for the Pigman because I felt like he was being taken advantage of by John and Lorraine but other times I was happy for him because he was having the time of his life with them. The only flaw about the story is the fact that it was difficult to understand who’s perspective I was reading from when I read from chapter to chapter. I would only recommend this book to middle school students in the eighth grade and/or older because there are alcohol references, smoking references and “bleeped” out curse words. This book is creative, and fun to read about the irregular relationship between the Pigman, John, and

Keats File

...John Keats John Keats (/ˈkiːts/ 31 October 1795 – 23 February 1821) was an English Romantic poet. He was one of the main figures of the second generation of Romantic poets, along with Lord Byron and Percy Bysshe Shelley, despite his work having been in publication for only four years before his death.[1] Although his poems were not generally well received by critics during his lifetime, his reputation grew after his death, and by the end of the 19th century, he had become one of the most beloved of all English poets. He had a significant influence on a diverse range of poets and writers. Jorge Luis Borges stated that his first encounter with Keats was the most significant literary experience of his life.[2] The poetry of Keats is characterised by sensual imagery, most notably in the series of odes. This is typical of romantic poets, as they aimed to accentuate extreme emotion through the emphasis of natural imagery. Today his poems and letters are some of the most popular and most analysed in English literature. 1 1.1 Biography Life mask of Keats by Benjamin Haydon, 1816 Early life John Clarke’s school in Enfield, close to his grandparents’ house. The small school had a liberal outlook and a progressive curriculum more modern than the larger, more prestigious schools.[11] In the family atmosphere at Clarke’s, Keats developed an interest in classics and history, which would stay with him throughout his short life. The headmaster’s son, Charles Cowden Clarke, also became an important...

Cooperate

...Cooperative Strategy ‘The authors have provided an ambitious overview of the cooperative strategy literature. The book will be welcomed by serious students and scholars focussed on this important phenomenon.’ Paul W. Beamish, Canada Research Chair in International Business, Ivey Business School, University of Western Ontario ‘This book provides a comprehensive, well-organized and richly illustrated analysis of inter-firm cooperation. While relevant for managers and business students, it extensively draws on the most up-to-date research, making it also a valuable source for academics studying strategic alliances and the wide array of management issues they raise. Child, Faulkner, and Tallman have done a remarkable job of putting together in a highly consistent way all the knowledge available on what has become an essential facet of business development, namely Cooperative Strategy.’ Pierre Dussauge, Professor of Strategic Management, HEC – School of Management, Paris ‘I highly recommend this book for alliance scholars and practitioners. The breadth of coverage of the practical and theoretical literature on cooperative strategy is one of the book’s primary contributions. The authors demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter and the numerous case studies demonstrate a close connection with actual experience.’ Andrew Inkpen, J. Kenneth and Jeanette Seward Chair in Global Strategy, Thunderbird, The Garvin School of International Management ‘Companies need...
