Is reliability and relevance important when assessing information to write a paper? Information gathered from different sources is used for research when writing papers and essays all over the world. The internet, articles and journal, and books are commonly used to obtain this information. The determination of reliability and relevance will give supportive background to the writing. Monitoring for biased or unsupportive information is important as well. These guidelines create strength and assurance that the information provided is accurate.
I determined my sources to be reliable and relevant by utilizing the university’s library. The sources are determined credible by the university. The publication dates, credentialed authors, and subject relevance were checked before consideration of usage. I attempted to check the purpose of the information, its supportive points, and the citations provided. These are others ways that I determined reliability and relevance. While researching, I used specific criteria when using the search tool. I noted the appropriateness of tone, structure, and supportive elements in which the writing reviewed. The material was evaluated for negative principles and eliminated anything that contained content that hinted toward a biased opinion. There were no biased authors from what I could conclude. Obtained material was used to strengthen my essay by creating a supportive and consistent flow of information. Facts and reproducible information helped to create an effective paper and make my essay creditable. If the information is not reliable it could create an ineffective sequence of evidence creating weakness. Using sources that are not reliable can create a cluster of unorganized and ineffective information causing my paper to become unrelated and undependable. Without proper use of these guidelines and directions my essay is considered

...The sources I chose or my articles are reliable, relevant sources for my Personal Responsibility Essay. Managed Healthcare Executive for example is a reliable source; they are members of the Modern Medicine Network. This network consists of Editorial Advisory Board and Professional Advisory Council members. There is no author bias; the information published is actual facts, driven by statistics and research. Below is the section I used from this article for my essay. “Consumers' personal choices and behaviors are significant determinants of their overall health, and those who fail to take personal responsibility for their health can cost the system billions of dollars each year. For example, a 2010 study from the UnitedHealth Center for Reform and Modernization found that more than 50% of Americans could have diabetes or pre-diabetes by 2020, carrying a cost of $3.35 trillion over the next decade. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, smokers cost the community more than $193 billion annually in lost productivity and healthcare costs ( Managed Healthcare Executive" (2013).” I was relevant to my essay; I want to show the reader the cost to all insurers because of people who refused to take care of their health. This information only proved the point I was trying to make so I feel that it strengthen my essay. The other source used for my essay is from a Journal called HEALTH EDUCATION JOURNAL. This Journal has been publishing since the 1940’s...

Gen 200

...GEN 200 3/3/13 I determined the sources for my essay to be reliable because they came from some credible sites. One of my sources came from a .com website that is from a college library. The other came from a .org which I find reliable as it is a well-established organization. Finally my third choice for a source is a .edu that is from a research institute. I also did a little research on the authors and they were all well established and respected writers which would also make my research more reliable. All three of my selections were relevant because they were all on the same subject of responsibility as my essay is on personal responsibility. My sources were also all fairly recent the oldest of the three was written in 1994 but I still find the information very useful and it still applies with these modern times. The other two sources were a little newer one was written in 2009 and the other was written in 2013. One of my sources which is The Heritage foundation that is a .org website is a very conservative organization and that would tell me that the author would have a bias based on his political views. Another website I used which is Brookings institute is a .edu and their views seem to me are more towards the liberal side and would also have a bias because of their beliefs. My third choice was geared more towards a law standpoint. I think the information I have used in my essay will do more to strengthen my essay because it all backs up my thesis statement...

Critically Examine the Role of “Relevance and Reliability” in the Conceptual Framework.

... The conceptual framework is made up of four qualitative characteristics: relevance, reliability, comparability and understandability (Hoggett, et. al. 2009). These qualitative characteristics allow the general-purpose financial reports to be constructed for interpretation by a particular user(s) so they may make informed decisions about certain aspects of their organisation. Although all four qualitative characteristics are important in the accounting processes, this essay will focus on the role of relevance and reliability in the conceptual framework. When general-purpose financial reports are constructed, the information used, among other things, must be relevant. Hogget, et. al. (2009) defines relevance as a quality of financial information that influences economic decisions by helping users to form predictions, to confirm or correct past evaluations and to assess the rendering of accountability by preparers. For all information to be used accurately and appropriately, the information used must be relevant to the task it is used for. The relevance of information is affected by its nature and materiality. In some cases, the nature of information alone is sufficient to determine its relevance, such as stock loss via broken or missing stock (Hoggett, et. al. 2009). But this is not always the case. Materiality refers to information that can possibly cause users to make unfavourable decisions based on misstating or leaving out information resulting in inaccurate general-purpose...

Service Encounter

...5. My Service Encounter Essay Reflections Through the course of my service encounter essay, I feel that I have learnt many new things about services marketing and have improved a variety of my personal skills as well as developing many new skills. This essay has really made me more aware of the amount of interactions that I have with services on a daily basis and the role that they play within my life. Also, the fact that services, on their own, account for more than 70% of our nations GDP really outlines the importance that there is on developing effective marketing strategies. 5.1 One of the most important factors that I can take from this essay is the importance of building relationships between the customer and the firm through marking techniques. One of the main reasons for failure within services firms is the fact that they concentrate far too much on initially attracting customers and not enough emphasis on customer retention. When I enter the business world I will ensure that I pay huge attention toward building relationships with my customers and this will enable me to sustain constant growth of sales through an extensive customer base. I have also been able to understand the importance of the service environment toward the perceptions of the customers. I think that in the future I will pay much more attention to the environment that I am being given a service within and the effect that various emotional cues and aspects have on me as a customer so that I can apply...
