The stronger each block is, the stronger the structure of the society. Families are thus the building blocks upon which rests the fate of society. For the development of good families, the mother plays a vital role. Many women today have aspirations of progress in their careers, and degrees in various fields. However it is indisputable that the most important achievement of a mother is the raising of sensible, virtuous children who will then move on to build other strong blocks for society. It has been said that it is easy to bear children but it is difficult to raise them well. In that lies the challenge for all mothers. When a baby is born, he is totally unaware of the outside world. The mother plays an important part in introducing him to the world. The outlook that the child will form towards life depends a lot on the mother. His attitude, his views - religious or otherwise- his perspective on life and its goals, will all be gained from her. Eventually he will mature and perhaps form his own changed views, but the initial years and what he learns in them will always have a lasting impression on his...

English Essay Lord of the Flies

...The strongest always prevail over the weak; one example is World War 1. The stronger armies prevailed, while the weaker ones were destroyed. Golding in his novel, Lord of the Flies, argues that the strongest prevail over the weak. A couple of instances where this is demonstrated are when Jack makes his own group and everyone joins him because he’s stronger, nobody disobeys the stronger people because they are scared they will get hurt, and lastly Jacks group has stronger people so they take over Ralphs group. Firstly, one of the many scenes demonstrating that the stronger prevail over the weak is when Jack creates his own group. For example “Long before Ralph and Piggy came up with Jack’s lot” (164). This proves Golding’s argument that the stronger do in fact prevail over the weak considering everyone joined his group because he was physically stronger then Ralph. Secondly, another example that relates to Golding’s argument is when Samneric are too scared to leave Jack’s group because they are afraid that they will get hurt or killed. For example, Ralph said “Wont you come with me? Three of us- we’d stand a chance” and Samneric replied “‘You don’t know Roger. He’s a terror.’ ‘-and the Chief-they’re both-‘ ‘-terrors” (210). This once again proves Golding’s argument because Samneric were indeed too afraid to disobey the stronger leaders. Finally, the last instance where Golding shows that the stronger prevail over the weak is that Jack’s group had more people, and eventually they...

Unit 510

...Unit 510 Effective team performance can be identified by a few simple notions, what first comes to mind when we think about a team is that it is made up of several different people all working towards a common goal, I identify this as without it no matter how good the each member of the team was, it would lead to chaos with no end result. We follow on from this as the team must have a structure whereas things can be measured so people know how to meet the goal they are heading towards. The staff that make up the team must be able to do the job they have been assigned to achieve, and sister to this they must be more than a staff member they must be colleagues, I say this because they must be equally committed and such create an air of sharing and collaboration so they can all utilize each person's different skills and abilities. Hence this leads on to the support network that is created not just by the effective teamwork but also externally too, by the training and supervision they may receive, the recognition of doing a good job etc. The leader will have to manage the team, make sure that everyone is working towards the same goal by monitoring and acting to support all the notions above. UNIT   510 Element 1 The staff team and staff members roles change as the team itself develops due to changes in policy, staff leaving/recruitment or changing demands of service users.   However the basic roll a staff member plays within the team will not alter greatly.   As identified...

Untold Story of Emmett Till

...Final Report Amanda Haskin, Jiao Liang, Boyu Dang, Joseph Krantz, Zach Tranter 1. Evaluation A. With the boat not sinking, and finishing in 11th place overall; the race went very well for us. The structure of the boat stayed strong. The walls and its supports were able to withstand the force and wetness of the pond water. Ideally this was made possible because the bottom of our boat was two cardboard pieces thick and the bottom of the entire boat was taped. Our paddles on the other hand were a different story. We created paddles in the shape of ping-pong rackets and the arm of these devices didn’t hold up so well. The cardboard became very flimsy and the arms of the rackets bent, unable to sustain the water and pressure we were exerting upon them. The main reason why our fundamental idea didn’t work out as a paddle was because the arm of the structure didn’t prove to be strong enough. B. Our water line calculations were actually very precise. Most of the attribution for this was the fact that our boat had a very simple shape, thus easy to apply in the equations. Another factor that helped us is the fact that we got an accurate Weight of the boat and the occupants that were going to be in the boat, which allowed figures on the prediction to be very similar to that of the actual outcome. Our predicted water line was at 6.5 inches, and as it turned out we hit our mark. Inaccuracies could occur most probably in misuse of the equations or...

What changed? What gave me this confidence and courage repeat what I failed in the past? Everyone experiences life similarly but differently. The Good Life

...Defining the “Good Life” Growing up my dad always told me that I will never be able to look back at everything I accomplished and say “I made it,” he said I might be able to when I retire but not anytime soon. I came of age with this mentality in the back of my mind, I worked, never becoming complacent with where I was. I was only focussed on where I wanted to be and that wasn’t there in that moment. In that moment I was focussed on one thing, the “good life.” In that moment, as I powered down my coffee trying to study, it wasn’t because I wanted to learn, but because I wanted my Ferrari. I was studying business not for pleasure but to make money. Yet by pursuing these material good was I pursuing the best life for me? Was I pursuing my personal definition of the “good life” or the definition of the “good life” inspired by people like Kanye West, who might even hate their “good life?” People who have found their higher level pleasures but are beginning to think it isn’t worth the trade off. Failure to question and change said trade off will only result in this person fall victim to the tyranny of custom just as Kanye West did: a man who wrote a song titled “The Good Life.” Though the idea of the “good life” is subjective there are many factors to take into account but ultimately you must decide for yourself whether the life you’re living is your definition of the “good life.” Kanye West is a singer/ songwriter and is famous for being obnoxious, he produces amazing music...

...leaders of both territories will try to talk and to figure out each other’s mistakes. Also, it was mentioned that if a certain country will take part, there’s always a chance of taking sides in which will bring more misunderstanding and problem to both parties. So it’s necessary to have an open-mind and an open-heart to bring a better solution that will benefit both parties without needing the help of other leaders overseas. On the other hand, to easily eradicate the conflict, many people believed that it is still best to involve other powerful countries. They said that if an influential leader will pursue to solve the negative occurrence, there is a greater chance that one or even both parties will cease their arguments and will let the stronger nation conclude the issue/s. Thus, bringing the best solution and developing ideas that will resolve and will even prevent the conflict in the future. Fear

...“We have nothing to fear, but fear itself” (Franklin Roosevelt). Society has evolved into a set of mind that believes that fear is considered a sign of weakness. Being afraid of the dark does not mean you’re scared of the absence of light but simply that you fear the unknown that hides within the dark that your eyes fail to observe. Scientist have developed several theories that contradict between the both, one states that fear is something we’re born with, something inevitable to our survival. While the other states that our phobias are made by our daily life actions and events, and we should overcome them in order for us to prevent our terrors to become a weakness. Being afraid of something can mean that you are facing a superior force in which you feel inferior to. Knowing you’re facing something bigger and more powerful can trigger that effect on your body and mind to try to abstain away from danger. One great example of fear is the one they instituted in North Korea. This nation is a ‘’population mind control by fear’’ (psyche truth). Despite the terrible and horrible living conditions, the North Korean people have never protested against their communist government. If you’re accused of political dissension the military will take you and your family into a labor camp, in which you will endure hard labor until the day of your death. They will never protest because they fear that 3 generations will be doomed to death (psyche truth). Another example of a group controlling...

Gender Stereotypes In Professional Sports

...Results of this study indicate a slight negative correlation exists between winning percentage and percent foreign-born from 2012-2017. The correlation coefficient confirms this conclusion as the relationship between the variables is -0.132 meaning an increase in the number foreigners on a team lessens the team’s chances of winning. Although a negative correlation exists, it is low as a perfectly negative correlation is -1. Using this correlation coefficient and the line of best fit, it was determined that an increase of foreign-born players on a team by forty percent, the range of the percent foreign-born variable in this study, correlates with the team losing seven to eight more games that season. Despite this correlation, the r-squared value generated from this study as seen in Figure 5 is quite low, a mere 0.0175. An r-squared value of 1.0 means that the line of best fit perfectly reflects the data. Therefore, in this study, the line of best fit does a poor job approximating the data. For example, the trend lines for the 2015 and 2016 seasons were actually positive, meaning that foreigners correlated with a higher winning percentage whereas on the whole time period they did not (Appendix J & K). This finding in conjunction with the low r-squared value indicates that winning percentage is largely influenced by other factors not necessarily the foreign makeup of a team. Additionally, an F-test was used to see if this study’s data was significant. This test resulted in a small...

Over the course of the semester, I have written various type of essay and in each essay the thesis is always the most important sentence. I have learned the necessity of combining the most important information out of an article into one sentence; the thesis statement captures the reader’s attention and sets the tone for the rest of the essay. I also learned that there are different types of thesis statements associated with individual essays. This semester, the class focuses on creating the most effective and appropriate styled thesis statement for each essay.
