Does Family Law

...Class: Legal Studies Teacher: Ms. Waylen Due Date: 14/10/2008 Assignment: Writing an essay Name: Laurie Cha Does family law satisfy the functions of law requirements? 1) Social Cohesion i) Rights and value Family law satisfies the functions of law requirements as it protects and preserves societal values and human rights. For instance, the Commonwealth Parliament has passed the Marriage Act 1961 to give people fundamental right to marry as well as to establish a valid marriage. The Family Law Act 1975 has been passed as people are expected to receive the rights when they are involved in a legal dispute relating to divorce. Recently, as the rights of children are considered paramount, the laws regarding the safety and welfare of children have been adopted by the Family Law (Shared Parental Responsibility) Act (2006). The South Australian Parliament has passed the Statutes Amendment (Domestic Partners) Act (2006) in order to provide de facto couples legal rights similar to those enjoyed by a married spouse. ii) Set acceptable standards of behaviour and consequence To preserve and protect values and human rights, the Marriage Act 1961 provides the requirements for a valid marriage to exist, for example, marriage should not be done by fraud, between a person related by blood with other close family members and more than one person. The consequence of failing to meet with these criteria is an...

Building a Virtual Exhibition: the Honan Collection Online

...1916. The chapel is central to the history of the Irish Arts & Crafts movement (1894-1925). Its furnishings and liturgical collection feature the work of many of the movement’s major artists and designers. The chapel features the earliest commission for Harry Clarke’s stained glass. This project, Honan Collection Online, aims to build upon recent scholarship by promoting awareness of the chapel and its liturgical collection. It will also illustrate how the artistic renewal of the chapel and its collection during the mid-1980s arose from the spirit of the Irish Arts & Crafts movement. The Honan Collection Online project received funding from the Quality Promotion Unit, University College Cork to develop the website. The site will feature essays linked to a comprehensive image gallery and a virtual tour of the chapel. The site will also include a discussion forum. The core project team members include: Rev. Fr. Joseph Coughlan, project director; James Cronin, History of Art, project co-ordinator; Daniel C. Doolan and Xiaoye Dai, both multimedia doctoral candidates in University College Cork, and Miguel Suarez, document scanning. Economics

...ECON3007 Economic Policy Analysis Topic: Institutions and Economic Reforms Wendy Carlin This topic focuses on the role of institutions in economic growth and the implications of this for the design of economic reforms. We examine why some large-scale economic reforms have been surprisingly successful and others have been disappointing. It will be argued that the consistency between existing institutions in the economy and the reforms is an important factor in determining reform success. We look at property rights and contracting institutions, at the experience of transition economies – both in the former Soviet bloc and China and at reform policies including privatization. The empirical techniques that we study include cross-sectional and panel regressions using aggregate (i.e. country-level) data and micro-economic data. ...calculator, games, maps and Web browser – or they can be downloaded from for free or a small fee from Web sites – today these sites are called app stores. Native apps are either written specifically for a type of handset – as many iPhone applications have been – so they can take more advantage of a phone’s functions, or as Java applications – this was the norm with download apps until recently – to run on many handsets. The Web app resides on server and is accessed via the Internet. It performs specified tasks – potentially all the same ones as a native application – for the mobile user, usually by downloading part of the application to the device for local processing each time it is used. The software is written as Web pages in HTML and CSS, with the interactive parts in Java. This means that the same application can be used by most devices that can surf the Web (regardless of the brand of phone)”, (www.eweek.com). Smartphone’s are extremely popular. Ninety-seven percent of all smartphone users use mobile applications. Fifty-eight percent of those smart phone users use location based applications. There were surveys done by a nonprofit global information security association called ISACA (previously known as the Information Systems Audit and Control Association). According to the survey taken by the ISACA , the location based activities were done via applications from smartphone using the users current locations was done fifty nine percent of the time but tagging photos...
