...Mobile Teams/Satellite Clinics under UNDP-CHTDF Project Background The project covers seven upazilas of Rangamati district and four upazilas of Khagrachari district of Chittagong Hill Tracts situated at the Southeast part of Bangladesh, near the Myanmar and Indian border. This region is distinct from other parts of Bangladesh in terms of language, religion, tradition, social customs and norms, land and structure. The area is home to 12 different ethnic groups including the Bengali. Although it is resourceful with its natural beauty and cultural diversity, the real situation of the people is worse than that of other parts of Bangladesh. Access to basic services such a livelihood, education, health, water and sanitation etc. are poor and need to be addressed. Health conditions in these areas are of major concern. Malaria, Pneumonia and Diarrhoea are endemic in these districts and constitute as the highest causes of child mortality. Ante and post-natal care is uncommon in these areas. Deliveries performed by trained birth attendants are very low. CHT communities rely on traditional birth attendants (TBA) or ojhas to deliver babies. Health insecurity a major problem in the CHT, because: • Access to health facilities and quality of health care in such facilities is poor o Basic infrastructure, including roads, is poor and the terrain is mountainous. ...Argumentative and Persuasive Essays Sometimes we write to defend an opinion, to argue against somebody’s point of view, or to convince readers why and how we think a certain problem should be settled. The argument we develop should be a logical, properly thought-out presentation of ideas that makes a claim about an issue and supports that claim with evidence. Within this general frame, our argument consists of four basic components: (1) an issue, (2) a claim, (3) support, and (4) a recognition and refutation of the opposing view. A. The Issue. An argument is concerned with an issue – a case (like war, smoking, cloning, etc.) on which people hold opposite or different opinions. To build a convincing argument about an issue, it is essential that we be aware of the audience we are addressing: • Agreeing audience: When you write to people who already agree with your claim, the focus is usually to urge them to take a specific action and build emotional ties with them. • Neutral audience: In writing to a neutral audience, try to emphasize the importance of the issue and offer explanations that clear up your readers’ questions or misunderstandings about, or lack of interest in it. • Disagreeing audience: The most challenging audience combines people whose viewpoints contrast with yours; they may be hostile to your claim and have strong feelings about the issue. In writing to a disagreeing audience, your goal is to convince readers to consider and adopt your views on the issue...

...Evidence-Informed Practice: An Evaluation of the David Bennett Inquiry Report In this essay I will evaluate the David Bennett Inquiry Report, which was set up by the North, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Strategic Health Authority (NSCSHA) to investigate the death of Mr David Bennett. I will define evidence-informed practice (EIP) and summarise the inquiry report. I shall highlight and critically analyse some of the key issues raised in the report in relation to ethnic minority issues. Finally, I will discuss the implications of evidence-informed practice for social work as well as my own future practice. EIP in social work began in the early 1990s when contemporary writers Geraldine MacDonald and her colleagues wrote articles very much in contrast to earlier reviews; they looked at results from studies such as quasi-experimental studies and client opinion studies about the effectiveness of social work practice. This led to good outcomes for social work practice (Webber, 2011) [Online]. Evidence-informed practice in social work has been described as: ‘Evidence based social care is the conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions regarding the welfare of those in need of social services.’ (Sheldon and Chilvers, 2000, p.5, adapted from Sackett et al., 1996 cited in Webber, 2011, p.3) Webber (2011) and Sheldon and Chilvers (2000, p.5, adapted from Sackett et al., 1996 cited in Webber, 2011, p.3) both define EIP as using effective interventions...

I had to fill in my inter-professional education book where i had to interview a client about his experience in the health care setting and how he is coping with his health and illness and the health care he is receiving whilst he is in the care of the National Health Service. I will be discussing his cultural needs and how it makes impacts on health and the impact it has on the client/ families psychological and social. This essay will show a non-judgemental description of the patient’s personality, family, cultural or social background. In this case study I have changed his name and will be referring to the patient as Mr Asim Khan to maintain confidentiality and identity. I will not give the name of the hospital/PCT. This is a breach of confidentiality policy and by the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC 2008). I choose Asim Khan as my chosen patient because I found him polite, and his social history very interesting, he was easy to talk to, and he was open about his medical condition and willing to discuss any questions I had regarding his condition. I also found out about his medical history and social background. I really appreciated that despite his ill condition and the pain he was going through, he still took time out to talk...
