It is highly desired to provide easy accessibility to such contents, i.e., efficient and precise retrieval of images that satisfies users’ needs. Toward this goal, content-based image retrieval (CBIR) has been intensively studied in the research community, while text-based search is better adopted in the industry. Both approaches have inherent disadvantages and limitations. Therefore, unlike the great success of text search, web image search engines are still premature. In this paper, we present iLike, a vertical image search engine that integrates both textual and visual features to improve retrieval performance. We bridge the semantic gap by capturing the meaning of each text term in the visual feature space, and reweight visual features according to their significance to the query terms. We also bridge the user intention gap because we are able to infer the “visual meanings” behind the textual queries. The main aim of this paper is to identify how much the Church1 has made use of traditional systems and values in reflecting and communicating pastorally particularly in regard the Social of the Church (henceforth CST). By analyzing four selected pastoral letters, this article tries to spell out the strengths and shortcomings of the Church in employing traditional systems and values in giving form to the CST. ...Abstract This project was conducted to study the human resource practices that can facilitate the social service organisation to effectively align its employees for efficiently service delivery. For this purpose the HRM theories and concepts as well as the best practices applicable to social service organisations were studied. This facilitated the author to find the strategic role that the HRM can play in engaging the employees and assess how the HR can motivate them and align them towards attaining organisation goals and objectives. The ultimate aim was to evaluate how Leyton health care an elderly home care service provider in London can align its HR and attain its objectives. Interview was held for the managerial level staff and questionnaire was given to the service delivery staff of Leyton Health Care. The total samples used for the study were 12. Out of these 2 were managerial level staff and 10 were service delivery staff. Open ended questions were used for the managerial level participants of the organisation while in case of the service delivery employees, a survey questionnaire which had statements with multiple choice questions i.e., close ended questions were used. The statements that were derived were regarded as themes and the evaluation of results was made by using the method of thematic analysis.
