Ethical Decisions In The Film Inception

Ethics refer to rules provided by an external source and science fiction is a genre that deals with imaginative concepts. I feel that watching a science fiction movie like “Inception” can make you more of an ethical person. The vast number of unethical decisions within the movie actually give your mind a reflective view on what has occurred and it is that view that can make you more of an ethical person.

The first time we can see an unethical decision occur is when Cobb accepts Saito’s offer to enter the mind of a rival’s son Robert Fischer. In exchange Saito promises Cobb that he will get a chance to meet his children which he hasn’t been able to do since his wife’s death which was blamed on him. We all know that accepting an offer like that

Internet Piracy

...In recent years, internet piracy or "file sharing" of copyrighted material has gained much popularity. It is a topic that has incessantly sparked debate and has even received global attention. Although on the surface the act of file sharing may seem harmless, it is far from it. Each year, film and record production companies as well as software and video game development companies suffer from billions of dollars in lost profits. This loss comes as a direct result of internet piracy. Many agree that file sharing is unethical and consider it to be no different than downright theft. On the other hand, there are those that support file sharing and claim that their actions are easily justified and ethical. This essay will provide a brief overview and history of file sharing, will consider the arguments of each side, and will offer my personal observations and stance on the issue. File sharing, put simply, is the process of making available and distributing files via the internet. Many freely developed applications have been made available that simplify this process, providing the ability to easily search for, download, and upload any piece of digital content imaginable. These applications are commonly referred to as P2P or peer-to-peer applications as they allow individuals (peers) to directly connect with other peers to share files. By themselves, such applications are useless; a central network must be available that allows each peer to see one another. These networks...

...camera simplified the photo taking process (Williams, C. 2013) Kodak’s main focus was photography and imaging. They had an array of products that ranged from photography equipment, film, paper and color chemicals. In the1980’s, Kodak’s market share reached 90%. This was a very special moment in the company’s history. Kodak developed the first concept of the digital camera in 1975. Their executives could not imagine the world without traditional film; unfortunately, the idea was dropped because they feared it would threaten the company’s film business. Digital cameras would become common; the technology started to spread and film sales dropped considerably at the late 1990’s. Kodak made a slow transition to digital technology. Unfortunately, their competitors adapted to change. This lead to Kodak’s loss of market shares both in the United States and worldwide. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. After one year of continuous battle to keep the company prosperous, the court approved financing for them. Kodak sold many of its patents to groups of companies such as; Apple, Google, Microsoft, and others (Snyder, 2013). Fujifilm which is a Japanese company was founded in 1934 (Tsurumi, Y 1999). Popularity for Fujifilm grew at an enormous rate. They were in second place in the United States in film usage. Eventually, they began selling globally. Fujifilm made bold moves in American...

Society being presented with involuntary social isolation under the guise of care has evoked a lot of casually negative artistic presentations. It’s important to note the lackadaisical nature of the presentation of inpatient psychiatric care, as the content creators are not making a statement as much as they are sharing what they believe to be a realistic interpretation of life inside of mental healthcare facility. For example, the second Terminator film has a chase scene inside of a mental hospital, which is solid white, with padded rooms, and bars on the doors and windows. The theme of staff in white coats is furthered in the popular idiom “Men in white coats” which references psychiatric hospital employees in a predatory...

The 1700 were a century in which market elements were created that encouraged the development of daily newspapers. The first daily newspaper was 'The Daily Courant' in London 1702. Newspaper and Newspaper advertising have been the most important tools in shaping the growth and development of the modern society. More than anything, they have been very instrumental in bridging communication gap between people and contribute to the air of awareness in a society. Banking in the form in which it exists nowadays is comparatively of recent origin. Before the advent of modern banking, direct finance, where the owner of capital deals directly with the user of capital, was the customary mode of transference of funds from savers to investors. Now, banks are engaged in various functions i.e., receiving, collecting, transferring, paying, lending, investing, dealing, exchanging, and servicing money and claims to money both locally and internationally. Bangladesh is a country suffering from immense social, political, economic and environmental issues and these issues need to be addressed for the overall development of this country. However, we all know that the people of the whole world are concerned about the environmental degradation, especially the rising of global temperature and thereby melting of glaciers and ice-berg in the polar region and consequently rising of sea level, which will directly affect the low lying countries...

We see through time where our imaginations have expended when it comes to think about Robots and what we think they will become. We used to think of Robots as multiple armed machines that could cook eggs, pour coffee, and flip eggs. These robots would mimic human behaviors and motions. Then we see cartoons of robots that gave us dreams of robot maids and robot machines that would supply us with any food of our choice, and have it fully cooked, and delivered through a tube. However, now-a-days, we have evolved to higher technology and have even greater imaginations (Niku, 2001). Although, there is one country that surpasses all when it comes to robots and robotics...
