The Cheesecake Factory has many important areas when it comes to their “Code of Ethics”. Each one plays a major and important role when it comes to making sure that the company is following all the important and legal requirements. This essay will describe the many areas that are important in a restaurant making sure that the employers and staff are always careful and following the “Code of Ethics”. The Cheesecake Factory has many important areas but we are going to focus on the major and important ones. These are as followed: * Protection of the Companies Confidential Information * General Standard of Conduct * Supervisors * Protection and Use of Company Assets
When following the “Code of Ethics” the Protection of Companies Confidential Information is very important. You have to make sure that all employers and employees can trust you with their information and documents. (Cheese Cake Factory Incorporated,2006). Being able to keep the company’s assets and other important information safe is a big deal. Being able to believe in the staff that you hire is a big requirement. You have to make sure that your staff is always on top of things and making sure that the job gets done. General Standard of Conduct talks about that, you have to have loyalty, honesty and responsibility when it comes to picking the right staff for your company. When you have a big company like the Cheese Cake Factory your Supervisors play a major role. They have to make sure that they represent the restaurant on and off the job. Supervisors are the heart of the restaurant and most employees look up to them for everything. When it comes to protecting the company you have to make sure that you do it legally. The use of company assets is very important and you have to make sure that you protect them at all cost. To make sure that the company is following the “Code of Ethics” having meetings to make sure that they keep up with the company’s rules. Making them take test so that they can keep the knowledge of everything they need to know about the “Code of Ethic” would also be great. Training the employees and Supervisor’s to make sure that everything is up-to-date and also keeping track of the training dates so that every year they can update their training with the latest information. Being able to help in the community is a great way to show support. Being able to help out a charity or even helping the homeless is a big step when it comes to showing your support. The Cheese Cake Factory could help the community by giving to a local charity of their choice and making sure that the charity gets the things that they may need. They could also sponsor a recreation team that may have a hard time with getting equipment for the kids in the community. Being able to get new equipment will definitely make the kids feel great when they are playing their games. Helping the kids in the community by giving to the school is also a great idea as well, giving the kids the equipment they need to learn like computers, books, paper and pencils is something that a lot of schools need. These are just a few ideas and would be a great start when it comes to having a company and looking for support.
When following the “Code of Ethic” it is very important and plays a big role in the company. You have to make sure that you follow every step the right way to avoid getting into any kind of trouble. Being aware of what’s going on in the company so that the company can continue to grow and be strong. Everyone wants to work in a healthy, honest and responsible environment and following these steps will keep the company strong.

...Ethical and Socially Responsive Business I believe that every company should encourage a relationship of trust, loyalty, honesty, and responsibility among staff members at all levels. It’s important that each staff member works together to achieve excellence in a business, so the code of conduct is put in place. The purpose of the code is to provide guidance and set common ethical standards for employees from the top of the food chain to the bottom of the food chain. Some of the areas that I find to be significant of importance in a business are sexual harassment, discrimination and simply being professional in a work environment. Sexual Harassment Prohibited Chipotle wants to provide a safe and positive working environment for all employees, whether male or female. Sexual harassment will not be tolerated, it’s a unwelcome verbal or non-verbal sexual advance, requests for sexual favors, other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature, it is considers a from of discrimination based on gender. The law prohibits sexual harassment by supervisor’s coworkers and even people who are not employees of the company. The company has a duty to keep their workplace free of harassment. In the Chipotle’s Ethics and Conflicts of Interest Policy of the Integrity Statement, integrity is about being real and being honest. It means doing the right thing even when no one is watching. That means that you should do the same thing when your manager or co-workers is around or if they aren’t around. ...Ethical and Socially Responsive Business BUS 100 Intro to Business 12/14/14 The company that I have chosen to be CEO over is the Cheesecake Factory . One key area of their Code of Ethics and Code of Business Conduct Policy (http://media.corporate-ir.net/media_files/IROL/10/109258/Code_of_ethics.pdf ) is the first section outlining the Standards of Conduct. Having that relationship of trust, loyalty, honesty, and responsibility from your employees is huge because they are your frontline employees and are in without their commitment the business will not run smoothly. As it states in the textbook the Universal Ethical Standards includes Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness. Caring, and Citizenship (Kelly, M., McGowen, J.,& Williams, C.(2014).BUSN(6th ed.).Mason, OH: South-Western Cengage Learning.) With these guidelines a business has a foundation that it can build upon with its employees. Another key area of importance is noting that no employee has the authority to direct another employee to break any laws. This is important because some employees can abuse their power and try and find loopholes to have another employee do illegal acts. Also, to go with some employees abusing their power having the no conflicts of interest policy is good to have so they can try to limit as much favoritism as possible. Another one of the important areas in the policy is keeping Confidential Company information protected. Whether it be business trade secrets or recipes...
