As a United States corporation it is our responsibility to give our consumers the best quality product. We believe that children deserve the best material to sleep in while being comfortable. Due to the changes in the ANSI standards we have to decide what we are going to do with the material received from our supplier. If we are to use the material here in the U.S. we risk several ethical issues which would lead to us to fines and possible lawsuits. According to “The Advantages of Ethical Behavior in Business by Brian Hill”; the author listed several reasons as to why having ethical behavior is important in business. The author listed the following reasons as to why being ethical is an advantage: it builds customer loyalty, retain good employees, create a positive work environment, and avoids lawsuits. First, by a company having ethical behavior it looks better to the customers and gives the company a more positive image in the marketplace. A company known as an ethical company helps when customers give referrals to friends as whom they should by products from. Second, retaining good employees is important. Good employees want to know that they company is honest with them as far as what could cause harm to their livelihood. A company needs to be fair and open in all of their dealings and by doing so they have a better chance to retain the best employees. Third, an ethical company creates a positive work environment. It is part of the workplace for employees to report unethical behavior. Ethical employees are looked at as team players instead of just looking out for themselves. If an employee is unethical it creates an air of distrust and can spread to the company as a whole thus disrupting the environment of the company. Four, by a company cutting corners if caught they will receive severe penalties when they are caught. The company can receive fines, legal fees
