Learning Team Summary
During the first week of the course many students wondered how this particular learning experience could enhance their ability to be a productive member within a learning team environment. Participating in a learning team environment can often seem intimidating. As the first week progressed suddenly, I realized that this course would introduce the concepts of effective communication within a learning team environment and the business world.
As week two began, I felt somewhat apprehensive about working in a learning team environment. Prior to entering this course most students have very little experience within a learning team environment. Some of the team members had been involved in an online structure where there was little or no interaction between classmates unless we were participating in a discussion week.
Although I believed that my many years of supervisory experience would make me the likely candidate to lead the learning team, I realized that the best person to lead the team was a member with prior learning team experience. As week two progressed our learning team had to decide who would be the most effective leader, review the learning team tool kit, and establish an effective team charter. Our learning team leader believed it was important for use to have some background knowledge about each member. She quickly took the lead and established our learning team charter giving each member an opportunity to add to our charter as well. She quickly established what role we would each play in the two learning team assignments. Consequently, what I have come away with from working in such a unique learning process can never be measured by the grade our team received from both of our learning team assignments. This experience has given me a much clearer understanding
