...popular way for amateur climbers to conquer Mount Everest. Commercial guiding expeditions have led to many deaths and have led to pollution of the mountain. In this essay I will discuss a brief history of Mount Everest, what commercial guiding is, how commercial guiding started and how it is affecting Mount Everest. Sources say that Nepal and China should limit the number of guide companies on Everest and make efforts to clean the mountain and its surrounding ecosystems. Mount Everest is the world’s highest mountain and the fifth tallest mountain from the base to the summit. The altitude of Mount Everest is 8,848 meters or 29,029 feet. Everest is located in the Himalaya Mountain Range, which is located in Nepal, China, India and Pakistan. The Himalayas is the tallest mountain range in the world. Most of its peaks exceed 7,200 meters or 23,600 feet. Mount Everest is located in the Mahalangur section of the Himalayas. The south side of the mountain is in Nepal and the north side is in China. The peaks that neighbor Everest are Lotse (the 4th highest mountain in the world), Nuptse and Changste. There are two main routes that commercial expeditions use to reach the summit of Everest. The first route is called the South Col which is located in Nepal. Some of the challenges that climbers face with this route are dealing with the Khumbu icefall and traffic jams on the Lotse face and on the day when climbers try to reach the summit of Everest. The other route that expeditions use to reach...

...Leadership Cumulative Essay Mathew Johnson College Phoenix Leadership Prof. Monstade February 04, 2012 Leadership Cumulative Essay Introduction This essay will give insight into the author’s point of view on several facets of nursing today. The information provided will speak to lessons learned in the Everest College Nursing program. Topics covered shall consist of a reflection of the personal nursing philosophy, impact and concepts of the Nursing Code of Ethics and how it applies to Nursing as a profession, the concept of patient centered care, use of technology in documentation, and the leadership aspects that are considered as a new graduate. Leadership aspects entail team leading, delegation, and role transition from graduate to RN. This is the point of view of the author and information given here will be both objective and subjective. Nursing Philosophy In a previous paper written, the reflection of this student’s own nursing philosophy seemed to coincide with that of Florence Nightingale as well as Dorothy Orem. Orem’s school of thought leans toward the nurse having a large hand in aiding a patient to achieve total self-sustainability. Dorothy Orem’s theory is actually three separate theories that work synergistically. These theories are the theory of self-care, theory of self-care deficit, and the theory of Nursing systems. This works well for a patient, when achieved, due to the self-care...

...insomnia Daree Walker Everest University Online Professor Pincumbe Composition 5002 August 24, 2014 Final Preventing a cold can be as easy as listening to your body, while curing hiccups and insomnia might require using some unusual techniques. In this essay you will find helpful hints to help you rid a cold or hiccups and how to get some sleep at night. My experiences are based on old wives tales and tricks I have used on myself and I have proof that some of these tricks might work for others. Because I have not suffered a cold in many years, I thought I must be doing something right so I would like to share with you my regiment. Also, I will share what I have learned about how to cure hiccups and what my son and I have done to cure our hiccups. These tips are based mostly on old wives tale and tips from the “Help From Heloise” books by Eloise Bowles. Now my tips for curing insomnia are based on my experiences with the insomniac women in my family, who struggle to sleep at night or find themselves awoken from sleep in the wee hours of the morning. However, I do not have this problem of insomnia. So I became curious of the fact that these ladies were not sleeping at night only because I could not understand what they were going through. Sleep to me is like milk, “it does the body good” and I ensure I get the right amount of sleep. My tips to my family were based on my own sleeping rituals or from what I have read on WebMD. This essay is based on tips I have collected...

The basis for this research paper is the postcolonial theories of Edward Said, Fanon and Homi K. Bhabha. The aim is to question simply and sardonically the human cost of empire building, moreover it is discussed how the people in a totally alien culture are faced with different cultural predicaments, dilemmas as well as contradictions threatening their identity. Identity is supposed to be stable, while as this novel indicates, it is more of glocal identity which is at risk due to the cultural conflicts, as a result of which identity and ethnicity are subjected to change for the benefit of the hegemony. In line with Edward Said’s: “the East writes back” it is shown how this novel is a reaction to the discourse of colonization from the Pakistani side (which stands for the East)...

LARRICK Duke University We examine the impact of the subjective experience of power on leadership dynamics and team performance and find that the psychological effect of power on formal leaders spills over to affect team performance. We argue that a formal leader’s experience of heightened power produces verbal dominance, which reduces team communication and consequently diminishes performance. Importantly, because these dynamics rely on the acquiescence of other team members to the leader’s dominant behavior, the effects only emerge when the leader holds a formal leadership position. Three studies offer consistent support for this argument. The implications for theory and practice are discussed. Organizations make extensive use of teams when structuring and allocating work projects. Given the increasing prevalence of teams in modern organizations and the complexities involved in group dynamics, questions about how to ensure high levels of collective learning and effective decision making, along with other key determinants of team performance, have captured extensive attention from researchers and practitioners alike (Martin & Bal, 2006). One important area of inquiry into team effectiveness...

...John Keats John Keats (/ˈkiːts/ 31 October 1795 – 23 February 1821) was an English Romantic poet. He was one of the main figures of the second generation of Romantic poets, along with Lord Byron and Percy Bysshe Shelley, despite his work having been in publication for only four years before his death.[1] Although his poems were not generally well received by critics during his lifetime, his reputation grew after his death, and by the end of the 19th century, he had become one of the most beloved of all English poets. He had a significant influence on a diverse range of poets and writers. Jorge Luis Borges stated that his first encounter with Keats was the most significant literary experience of his life.[2] The poetry of Keats is characterised by sensual imagery, most notably in the series of odes. This is typical of romantic poets, as they aimed to accentuate extreme emotion through the emphasis of natural imagery. Today his poems and letters are some of the most popular and most analysed in English literature. 1 1.1 Biography Life mask of Keats by Benjamin Haydon, 1816 Early life John Clarke’s school in Enfield, close to his grandparents’ house. The small school had a liberal outlook and a progressive curriculum more modern than the larger, more prestigious schools.[11] In the family atmosphere at Clarke’s, Keats developed an interest in classics and history, which would stay with him throughout his short life. ...IGOROTS * Home * IGOROT SONGS * IGOROT DANCE * IGOROT TRADITIONS * MONEY ON THE MOUNTAIN IGOROT TRADITIONS IGOROT TRADITIONS When we talk about Igorot identity and culture, we also have to consider the time. My point is that: what I am going to share in this article concerning the Igorot culture might not be the same practiced by the Igorots of today. It has made variations by the passing of time, which is also normally happening to many other cultures, but the main core of respect and reverence to ancestors and to those who had just passed is still there. The Igorot culture that I like to share is about our practices and beliefs during the "time of Death". Death is part of the cycle of life. Igorots practice this part of life cycle with a great meaning and importance. Before the advent of Christianity in the Igorotlandia, the Igorots or the people of the Cordilleran region in the Philippines were animist or pagans. Our reverence or the importance of giving honor to our ancestors is a part of our daily activities. We consider our ancestors still to be with us, only that they exist in another world or dimension. Whenever we have some special feasts (e.g., occasions during death, wedding, family gathering, etc.), when we undertake something special (like going somewhere to look for a job or during thanksgiving), we perform some special offer. We call this "Menpalti/ Menkanyaw", an act of butchering and offering animals. During these times we call them...
