Once upon a time, there was a girl named Janey who had both a mom and a dad. Her life was picture perfect. She was very pretty, kind, giving and tender-hearted. She was also very popular at school. That was until one day when they found out her mom had cancer and it had spread all over her body; they said she had a month left, but she died a week later. Janey was devastated. Her world was shattered and life as she knew it was over forever! Her father, on the other hand, didn’t seem to be even a little bit sad. He married again, only 4 months later. Her new step-mom brought with her a daughter named Julie. They were both in the same grade in high-school.
The new sisters couldn’t have been more different. Janey was popular because …show more content…
Anybody could enter and there was no limit to the number of ducks a person could show. Therefore, she entered her favorite duck, who wasn’t very good quality but was she loved him anyway. They shared a special bond and he would follow her wherever she went so she couldn’t break his heart and just had to enter him. She also entered some good ducks too because after all she did want to win. As she started preparing for the day of the show, her duck would give her items to help her prepare for the show. They were going to have a wonderful day at the …show more content…
She was pure evil and so jealous of Janey that she was willing to go to any length to keep her from the competition; but, the ducks wouldn’t die! The ugly little fairy god duck was able to keep them all safe. She eventually gave up and tried to design plan B. There was no way she could allow Janey to participate in the the show today. As she was listening to the rules of the show, she was struck by a fabulous idea. In order to enter the ring all ducks must wear an identification tag. All she had to do was get them off the ducks. So she got a knife and after a rather large scuffle she just nicked one of the ducks tags but people were coming so she had to leave before she got

Rhetorical Terms/Devices

...ordinary mode of speaking or writing. It is what makes up a writer’s style – how he or she uses language. The general thinking is that we are more likely to be persuaded by rhetoric that is interesting, even artful, rather than mundane. When John F. Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country” (an example of anastrophe), it was more interesting – and more persuasive – than the simpler, “Don’t be selfish.” Indeed, politicians and pundits use these devices to achieve their desired effect on the reader or listener nearly every time they speak. The stylistic elements in a piece of writing work to produce a desired effect related to the text’s (and author’s) purpose, and thus reveals the rhetorical situation. In classical rhetoric, figures of speech are divided into two main groups: Schemes — Deviation from the ordinary pattern or arrangement of words (transference of order). Tropes — Deviation from the ordinary and principal meaning of a word (transference of meaning). *Important Note: Words marked with an asterisk* are words for which it would be impossible for you to write 3 examples for your weekly vocabulary assignment. In those cases, please write only the definition, in your own words, and the rhetorical uses/effect of that device, or do what you are instructed to do under those words. Please mark these words that deviate from the ordinary assignment with an asterisk* when you type them on your page. Common Schemes...
