Firstly with the use of the literary device of foreboding, it made Scout face reality and the truth of society and its judgemental ways. An example can be when Jack was talking to Atticus about Scout’s future. During this talk Atticus said, “Scout’s got to learn to keep her head and learn soon, with what’s in store for her these next few months” (116). This talk forebodes the hard times to come with the tom Robinson case. It is with this that she will be forced to see hatred and society for what it is. She will be forced to grow up and, once you lose your nativity and innocence you cannot get it back. Also, when Scout predicted what the court ruling would be for the Tom Robinson trial: “The feeling grew until the atmosphere in the courtroom
