While reading books 1 and 2 of Cather's My Antonia, I found myself being taken back to that time in the rural scenery of the Nebraskan prairies. The way Cather describes Jim's surroundings with phrases like "...the window-shade at my head was flapping softly in a warm wind" and "...there was so much motion in it; the whole country seemed, somehow, to be running," make me feel the warm air of late spring and my mind automatically jumps to envision the tall red grass, to be moving in the same motion that waves do. It gives an almost soothing and peaceful sensation, but it also gives the sensation of nostalgia.
