In this quote from the story, Grant Wiggins talks about racism. There is a lot of different quotes in the book that talk about racism, but this is one of my favorites. This is only a snip it of where Grant talks about the struggles he’s been going through the past few days because he is a black man. He talks about how when he goes to visit Jefferson in prison they make him take everything out of his pockets, and he stands waiting for hours as the white men finish having dinner, and etc. He then goes on to say “But he didn't tell me that my aunt would help them do it.” Which in my eyes was a very important part. His aunt sent him to school to be able to learn more, and protect him from the racism. Yet, here she is forcing him go to the prison
