...Final Exam (Part 2) 8 Oct 2012 Researching a Career Path I chose the Protective Security Specialist (PSS) as my career path choice. I chose the PSS path due to the fact that it was one specific area of my past experience that was lacking and it has positions all over the world through the Worldwide Protective Services (WPS) Program (formally known as the Worldwide Personal Protective Services (WPPS) Program). My initial research began with people I worked with on a Static Security project in a high threat area. I soon found out that there were a few large companies, and projects, that would serve as a starting point. Aegis, DynCorp, Global, Triple Canopy, and US Training Center were the major players in the State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security Program. I spoke with work colleagues that have worked for one, or numerous, of the aforementioned companies. I was mostly interested in the areas of company vision, work beliefs, and compensation plans along with the individuals’ point of view. I then began an internet search of my top 3 picks (Global, Triple Canopy, and US Training Center). I researched news articles of specific incidents, public views, and awarded contracts. Public forum sites, such as SOCNet, provided a valuable resource on how different companies were viewed & operated by, and at, the lower levels. My final task was the research of each of the company’s specific website; focusing on mission statement, focus, and plans for the future. Networking...

...The COAG National Framework refers to the protection of children. The slogan “protecting children is everyone's right” ensures that children within Australia are kept nourished and safe. The COAG is invested by the government and non-government sector to protect the rights of children and their families. The purpose of COAG is to ensure children are not violated through collecting data and conducting investigations. The ‘COAG report’ found that in 2007-08 there were over 55.000 reports of child abuse and neglect within Australia. However since the report has been conducted there has been a dramatic reduce in the number of abuse and neglect cases within Australia. The COAG National Framework is effective in meeting the needs of children and protecting them as the highest priority. The child's welfare within Australia is unsuccessful in prioritising the rights and protection of children however the COAG National Framework addresses these issues and has been pushing for change in the recognition of child welfare. Furthermore, the COAG promotes a safe and welcoming environment for children to assist an early tertiary child protection program. The COAG National Framework ultimately aims to protect the most vulnerable families and children from neglect and abuse. The effectiveness of the COAG can be measured by the successful cases used through welfare benefits and assistance. For example, Holzer, Lewig, Bromfield and Arney (2008) which protects the rights of children to establish...

...great detail the newly proposed system of judicial government. The author of these papers was Alexander Hamilton. John Jay, and James Madison contributed to the other parts of the Federalist. The most interesting aspect of the judicial branch is the way it fits into the system that also is comprised of the Executive branch, and the legislative branch. Alexander Hamilton writes, “The judiciary, from the nature of its functions, will always be the least dangerous to the political rights of the constitution; because it will be least in a capacity to annoy or injure them”. The executive branch can be viewed as the, “sword of the community”, and the legislative has the power to create the laws the all citizens of the United States must follow (Hamilton 78). The brilliant thing is even though it seems the judicial branch of government does not carry as much power, it never states that in Hamilton’s letters due to the fact that the judicial branch is considered an “indispensable ingredient” (Hamilton 78). The power of the judicial branch may be considered not as direct as the other branches, but is still powerful nonetheless. The legislative branch and executive branch together have the power and ability to pass laws that the people must follow, but who keeps those two branches within their own boundaries? The answer is the judicial branch, due to the fact that the judicial branch has no authority to audit the constitution, but every authority to uphold it. The statement...

...The vast majority of the departments, agencies, and commissions that make up the federal bureaucracy today were created by Congress through legislative acts. Congress is unable to act in a bubble though, due to the nature of the system’s built-in checks and balances, Congress must first get the president’s “buy off” which is represented by his signature. Although Congress has the authority to create these agencies (with the president’s agreement of course), the Constitution designated the president as the person responsible for implementing and administering the decisions and actions of the bureaucracy. “As chief executive, the president is constitutionally charged with ensuring that the laws be faithfully executed” (Harrison, Harris, and Deardorff 391). The resulting tension between Congress, as the creators of the bureaucracy, and the president, as the executive in charge of the bureaucracy, is just one of the tugs-of-war that the bureaucracy is subjected to that affect their behavior and ultimately the amount of control the president is able to wield over them. Originally, the federal bureaucracy had a modest role. In 1789, George Washington headed a federal bureaucracy of three departments: State (Foreign Affairs), War, and Treasury; and two offices: Attorney General’s Office and Postal Services Office. At this limited size, structure, and function; the bureaucracy was much more manageable so the president was able to have a better handle on it and hence exert more...

Also they will need a plan for backing up all human resources filing and information, billing and finance and marketing data. First steps would be for the team to assemble a list of what are some of the hazards and assess the risks of losing this data. Second they would need to conduct an impact analysis plan to see if this will hurt the business. Third examine ways to prevent hazards from happening. With a company such as EPLAN, the team would evaluate all data and where the data is housed. Some servers are currently overseas but most data is stored in the office of Farmington Hills, MI. The server room is not protected by any Fire protection walls. The company data for employees are on their computers and are currently not being backed up onto the server as most of the employees work from home. The only employees that are backed up on the server are out of the Farmington Hills office. This office is where the Finance and human resource departments are located. So all of the electronic documentation is housed on the in house server but there currently they do not have a data warehouse to back up this data. All marketing data is housed on the marketing manager’s computer with no back up. This position works...

...that enough people considered it such a serious problem that it required increased government action. Another example is crime. American society tolerates a certain level of crime; however, when crime rises dramatically or is perceived to be rising dramatically, it becomes an issue for policymakers to address. Specific events can place a problem on the agenda. The flooding of a town near a river raises the question of whether homes should be allowed to be built in a floodplain. New legislation on combating terrorism (the USA Patriot Act, for example) was a response to the attacks of September 11, 2001. 2. Formulation and adoption Policy formulation means coming up with an approach to solving a problem. Congress, the executive branch, the courts, and interest groups may be involved. Contradictory proposals are often made. The president may have one approach to immigration reform, and the opposition-party members of Congress may have another. Policy...

Based on the past procurement scandal in October 2014 with the VA. ...Facts This writ petition under Article 32 of the Constitution of India, raising a question of public importance involving the interpretation of Articles 74 (pari materia to Article 163) and 156 of the Constitution, has been referred to this six-judge Constitution Bench. On August 7th, 2014, President Pranab Mukherjee issued a Presidential order removing Mizoram Governor Kamla Beniwal with barely four months left of her tenure. Ms. Beniwal, who had crossed swords with PM Narendra Modi as Gujarat governor, was only recently transferred to Mizoram. According to Ms. Beniwal, she was transferred after a nudge from home secretary Anil Goswami to quit did not elicit the desired response from her. The Government has stated that the decision to advise the Presdient to sack Ms. Beniwal was taken after it came to light that she had misused the governor's office (in Gujarat) to make several unauthorized air travels, including to her home state of Rajasthan, at the expense of the state exchequer. Citing Gujarat Raj Bhavan records, the Government states that Ms. Beniwal flew out of Gujarat 63 times using the state aircraft between 2011 and 2014, with as many as 53 of these trips being to her home city of Jaipur. The Government also states that as chancellor of universities, she had allegedly started taking keen interest in appointment of vicechancellors. Ms. Beniwal denies these allegations and states that the sole motivation for her removal was political vendetta. She asks that the Court examine...
