Experiment 101
RESOLUTION OF FORCES
In this experiment, we determined the resultant and equilibrant of system of forces using the force table given and after gathering the data, we compared them with the different methods involved. The main material we used in this experiment is called force table. It has system of strings with varying tensions that act concurrently. It also has 4 pcs of super pulley with clamp and 4 pcs of mass hanger which weigh 5 grams each. There is a ring in the center of the force table that indicates if the forces are balance. We began the actual experiment by increasing differently the mass of each hanger using the slotted mass. Afterwards, we measured the angles of the strings by using trial and error in adjusting the angles of each strings. To determine if the angles of the strings are balance, the ring should be at the center of the force table. Polygon method and component method were used in determining the resultant of the first three forces and afterwards, we compared the resultant to the last force. We did 2 trials in determining the resultant and equilibrant of the system of forces but each trials have different masses on each hangers. I. INTRODUCTION
The experiment is all about Resolution of forces which means breaking down a single vector into 2 or more vectors. The single vector has a force that can be resolved into two components. Using the force table present in the experiment, we should investigate the resultant and equilibrant of system of forces and compare them by using the different methods involved.
