Some people love broccoli and some people hate it, but there is no denying that broccoli is a nutritional wonder. However, this powerful vegetable has a lot of health benefits. There are some specifics reasons why broccoli should be a part of our diet which are protection of the nervous system, blood pressure, bone health, vitamin C, sun damage, immune system, diet aid, eye health, heart health. One of the common benefits is cancer prevention. In the concept of broccoli cancer prevention; it contains glucorapharin, which with the body processes into anti –cancer compound sulforaphane. This compound rids the body H.pylori, a bacterium found to highly increase the risk of gastric cancer. Furthermore, broccoli contains indole-3-carbinol, a powerful antioxidant compound and anti-carcirogen found to not only hinders the growth of breast, cervical and prostate cancer, but also boots liver functions. Moreover, the way we eat broccoli may determine how much we benefit from its cancer-fighting properties. In the same manner, our ability to absorb the antioxidants in broccoli increases when we consume this broccoli raw. Compounds in broccoli and broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables may help prevent cancer by destroying carcinogenic elements before they can alter the DNA in our cells. These compounds may also assist with the formation of proteins that suppress tumor growth. Most important, broccoli contains phytonutrients called glucosinolates, which produce isothiocyanates when they are broken down in chewing and digestion. Isothiocyanates work at the molecular level to eradicate carcinogenic compounds from your cells. These carcinogenic may come from pollutants in air or water, pesticides, tobacco smoke, food products or other sources. Epidemiological evidence suggests that eating raw broccoli may decrease your risk of developing from exposure to these toxins. On the other hand, there are some differences between eating raw broccoli and the cooked one. When we chew and digest raw broccoli, we increase the vegetable’s cancer-fighting potential. Chewing releases enzymes that encourage the breakdown of the glucosinolates in broccoli. This breakdown creates the sulfur containing compounds that help prevent the cellular alterations that lead to cancer. The truth is that the less heat and time that go into preparing broccoli, the more likely we are to absorb its cancer preventing compounds. Several scientists’ studies shows that eating a variety of vegetables and fruits can also lower our risk of developing some diseases. Current research points to a connection between eating raw vegetables and our body ability to fight carcinogenesis. Similarly, I’ve realized that everybody may need to make other lifestyles changes to decrease cancer risk. Overall, it is a good idea that we include not only broccoli, but some varieties of vegetables in our diet in order to have a healthy lifestyle.

...Maranda Harris Chris Bishop English 1302 12 October 2014 Should Non Violent Drug Offenders Be Imprisoned? With so much overcrowding and  financial problems, it is obvious that non-violent offenders should not be incarcerated but instead they should be offered alternatives to incarceration. This argument will discuss the benefits of offering another option to offenders who have not committed a violent offense. Rehabilitation has been proven to be an effective alternative when offered to non violent offenders who are usually addicts. By incarcerating people who are not a threat to others and have not committed a violent crime we are simply wasting space in prisons that could be better used to house violent offenders such as murderers and rapists. In addition to wasting space, every state that continues to jail non violent offenders is wasting money. They are wasting money not only for salaries of correctional facility employees but also on housing and feeding these inmates. The amount of money it takes to keep a person imprisoned for one year is unbelievable. The average cost to house an inmate in California over one year is $47,102. (Brown, 2009) In Wisconsin that number is $31,806, much closer to the national average. (National institute of corrections, 2008) Think of all the money that could be saved by referring non violent offenders to rehabilitation instead of putting them in jail. Even with all the spending done each year on inmates, they are just as likely to...

...I believe that doctors are held to a higher standard than everyone else. It is their duty as physicians to make sure that they are doing legal and ethical things. A lot of times we hear stories off different doctor doing illegal things. This affects their life drastically. They can be jailed and lose their job and everything that they have worked for if they commit illegal or unethical acts. Doctors cannot be distributing drugs to people unless they are necessary for their health. Doctors need to be careful that they are diagnosing people the right prescription and the correct dosage of that prescription. An article that I found that was interesting was about a doctor that prescribed drugs to her patients that did not need them. In addition...

Intel - Exploring the Future

...that was deemed old and no longer effective. Driven by Moore’s Law, the old roadmap-driven research method identified barriers that hindered usage of the continuing and increasing power of chips, and then built solutions to overcome those barriers. David Tennenhouse along with Hans Mulder implemented a new method, the ‘exploratory research’ strategy. The logic was to sample external environments and then amplify research around those identified as promising ventures. With Intel Research and Intel Capital under their wings, Tennenhouse and Mulder set out to bring in new innovations and ideas to Intel. However, a few roadblocks were in their way. The ultimate task for Tennenhouse and Mulder was not only to drive in new ventures, but also to develop a strategy to incubate and track the progress of their investments. In this paper, I will identify Tennenhouse’s strategy, as well as the hurdles that he had to overcome in identifying these strategies and implementations.I will then provide my interpretation and insight, as well as some suggestions to the problems that Tennenhouse and Mulder faced. Leveraging his experience from DARPA, Tennenhouse implemented an exploratory research strategy that placed emphasis on “sensing” the environment. His plan was to plant agents in areas that had an abundant amount of resources, information, and technical spark. Typically, universities with a dominant science and engineering history would be a prevalent place to start. These agents, also known...

...Jose Dejesus Dr. Steven Taylor English 11 D22 3/3/2014 2nd Paper Accounting: the need of bringing accounting history into classrooms Would introductory accounting students benefit from the lessons and experiences found in accounting history? That’s how the article “Financial Accounting Courses: An exploratory study” by Satina V. Williams and Bill N. Schwartz starts. According to studies made by Williams and Schwartz, students would better understand the political, economic and cultural issues affecting the development of accounting if they were exposed to the history and evolution of accounting through the years. They also suggested that gathering historical information in the beginning of the course of accounting may stimulate students to learn more about how accounting is actually working (Williams 198). After looking at records and seeing that many students are receive a degree without knowing the history of accounting, they conducted a survey to determine how they can get the history of accounting into the classrooms. After contacting 100 school’s accounting department administrators, they found 79 faculty members to ask for their opinions about incorporating accounting history into undergraduate introductory financial accounting classes. If they can get the majority of firms they might be able to bring accounting history into classrooms. They received 49 responses and 24 of them were in agreement...

A Research Proposal: How to Develop a Business Strategy to Expand a Business in an International Market?‏ Read More: Http: //Www.Ukessays.Com/Essay-Examples/Business-Essay-Examples/Business-Strategy-International-Market.Php#Ixzz2Howzexxn

...1. Introduction The globalization of the economy, internationalization of businesses and emergence of new markets are all key themes in contemporary business. Whereas international business may once have been the province of organisations with sufficient scale and reach, these types of companies – typically multi-national corporations - no longer have a monopoly on this kind of business. Increasing numbers of firms, of varying scale, are confronted with compelling reasons for expanding their activities across multiple national boundaries. In some cases, such motivation includes the knowledge that success in international markets is a pre-requisite for survival; if competitor organisations succeed in international markets, they may achieve the scale and liquidity which affords them sustainable competitive advantage. However, scrutiny of the empirical experience of international expansion suggests that the apparent potential is by no means straightforward to achieve in practice. This raises questions about whether or not it is realistic to envisage a ‘best practice’ in terms of international expansion strategy. Can the latter be conceived of as a specific and transferable management skill, or is it instead reliant upon expertise in a particular sector of business, a market, or a national culture? After all, if proven strategists are found wanting, where can the organisation go in terms of its future practice? Large, successful and sophisticated businesses have often found that...

...Before starting the annotated bibliography, I was very confused because the prompt had stated that I had to construct an annotated bibliography that was two to three pages. It was shocking to me since it sounded like an extremely difficult task compared to the other papers I wrote. Luckily, that was just a mistake and the prompt actually required a paragraph summarizing each secondary source. With that in mind as well as the example summary, I was able to complete the annotated bibliography on time. Similar to the other papers, I had to question the rhetorical situation first. Like always, the readers are my professors, meaning that I did not need to elaborate too much on the primary sources. I also considered the genre of the story I had...
