Threat of New Entrants: Quite high. This is mainly because, anyone looks as if they're making a sustained profit, new competitors can come into the industry easily, reducing profits. The underlying factors that increased such threat of new entrants to the business of Brothers furniture ltd. are: * No technology protection * Low barriers to entry * Moderately expensive to enter the industry * Some economies of scale * Some cost benefits if in business for some time
Competitive Rivalry: Extremely high. This is because, there are too many furniture producers already doing business in the market offering similar products and promotions at a similar price. So if someone raises prices, they'll be quickly undercut. Intense competition puts strong downward pressure on prices. The underlying factors that aggravate such competitive rivalry of the business of Brothers furniture ltd. are: * Many competitors * Similar products * Low switching cost * Low customer loyalty
Supplier Power: Low. This is because as there are too many suppliers already in the market, the power of suppliers to increase the prices of the inputs to the furniture business is low. The underlying factors for such phenomenon are: * High number of suppliers * Suppliers large * Similar products * Able to substitute * Able to change * Able to import
Threat of Substitution: High. This is because as there are a lot of competitors already in the market offering substitute products and offerings. To illustrate, those selling furniture’s made of Iron, Steel, Plastic, Carbon fiber, Air borne furniture’s etc. So it is getting much easier nowadays for the buyer to shift his/her choice. This in turn increases the threat of substitute products to the business of Brothers furniture. The underlying factors are: * Some cross product substitution * Buyers ability to

Lg External Analysis

...Introduction The company concerning this external analysis is the mobile department of LG. The following is a PESTEL analysis followed by a Porter’s FIve Forces analysis. Political There are many things to consider about politics for a multinational technology based company. Many different governments play a role in politics for a worldwide manufacturer. There is a large political movement for changing laws for more eco-friendly companies. In order for LG to create cell phones, tablets, and accessories, the LG must acquire material that is extracted from the earth, for example: aluminum, antimony, cadmium, cobalt, copper, etc. Also, in order to manufacture these electronics, LG must create plastics, batteries, and circuit boards, which use quite a bit of crude oil in the process of manufacturing. If political leaders in certain parts of the world were to change the laws about being more eco-friendly, LG would have to change either where they manufacture or how they manufacture. The eco-friendliness of LG’s manufacturing will affect many areas of the external analysis. Another major thing to consider for a political factor is importing and exporting products and materials. LG operates worldwide and could be affected by certain government decisions on their country's import or exporting standards or allowances. Along the same line as that, governments also have power over minimum wage and tax laws. Which can affect either way for a major manufacturer such as...

These two stores are part of the retail industry. External factors are constantly changing the environment and industries that businesses operate in today. Analysing these factors is the best way to determine which aspects have the largest effect on the industry and the business. The retail industry in New Zealand is by no means small. Jcp External Analysis

...INTRODUCTION In this segment, the retailer J.C. Penney will be analyzed against the department store retail industry, with particular emphasis placed upon their competitors, Macy’s and Kohl’s. The major components to be discussed will include the general external environment (i.e. demographics, economics, politics, legal requirements, technologies and global expansion), the industry environment, the competitive environment, the driving forces and the key factors for success within the industry. In terms of the general external environment, the retail industry is a multi-trillion dollar business in the United States alone and maintains operations primarily due to consumer spending. Such purchases rely upon the disposable income of consumers and, as a result, the success of the retail industry is directly correlated to the economic status of the country. Due to the recent economic recession in the United States in 2008, customer confidence is not as high as it once was and, as a result, consumers are more price-sensitive in their retail purchases than they once were. As a result, retailers must be incredibly careful in their selection of product mix, their associated retail prices and the promotions they offer. Aside from price and pricing structure, another major component to consider in the retail industry is the domestic and global increase in the use of technology. Such shift in the availability and reliance upon technology has driven retail consumers to be more time sensitive...

Google’s web applications are now bundled into the operating system on low-cost Linux-based computers. Demographics Google is well positioned in demographics because it has a relatively young user base. This means that it will be less affected as the Baby Boomers age in comparison to other companies that depend on the 50 to 60 year-old demographic group. Internet search is also not a gender-specific issue, and would not be hurt by changes in the ratio of female to males. The company will however benefit when some traditional and paternalistic societies begin using the internet more frequently. Technology Technology is obviously always improving and Google has taken specific measures to make sure it does not fall behind. Google can use commodity computer parts (cheap...
