It is the largest among the networking sites, with the runner up being MySpace. It began as a college networking website and has expanded to include anyone and everyone. Facebook was founded by 2004 by Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg and originally called thefacebook. It was quickly successful on campus and expanded beyond Harvard into other Ivy League school. With the phenomenon growing in popularity, Zuckerberg enlisted two other students, Duston Moskovotz and Chris Hughes, to assist. Facebook seems to be the ultimate isolating technology that further reduces young female participation in many activities in the real world. From the literature review found that social escapism, pass time, interactive control, information and communication is among five motivation factors that influenced towards the Facebook site and relationship with the addiction to it. The study to determine the relationships between female student’s motives for Facebook use and Facebook addiction was conducted. It adopts a survey questionnaire method that was distributed to UKM and UNITEN female students, randomly. A set of questionnaire in 3 different parts consist of 51 questions. The data collected were analyzed and determined using SPSS software, the Pearson’s collection and ANOVA. Based on the research results, it shows that 36.6% of them in the range age of 19-21 years old, whereas 51.1% of them are Malay students. Participants from UKM (63.2%) and another 36.8% from UNITEN. Compared to elder adults, youngsters are not only less likely to resist the temptation, but also more easily to accept new conceptions and technologies. The rate of addiction among youngsters was almost two times higher than among adults (Nam, 2013). Hence, youngsters are considered as the main body of cell phone addiction. Although the consequence of cell phone addiction is not regarded as destructive as drug addiction, it is still of great severity. The symptoms of cell phone addiction are concluded by Choliz (2012) like the inability to control the usage, conflicts between family members, occupation of spare time and a sense of emptiness without cell phones. When dealing with the issue of cell phone addiction, it is ideal to analyze the reason behind the phenomenon. There are four main reasons why youngsters become addicted to cell phones: needs for social contacts, intrinsic attractions of cell phones, psychological factors and environmental pressures.
