One stressful experience for an older patient is times that the facility is very large. The inability for them to find a department can lead to disorientation and frustration. Caregivers that work in healthcare facilities can also become stressed and can develop increased fatigue. One reason for the caregivers developing stress can be the poor design of the facility. Healthcare facilities should be clear and have a defined appearance based on the population, and needs of the population in which it serves. Poor design can lead to caregivers’ inefficiencies and fines charged because of the facilities failure to meet required regulations. This paper will include a layout and reason why facility was chosen. Suggestions on completing floor design different will also be included, and what I have learned about completing my own floor plan. ...Facility Planning Isela Aguilar University of Phoenix HCS/446 May 7, 2012 Peter Mabrey The Emergency Room (ER) at Sharp Chula Vista is one of the busiest within San Diego County. Sharp is staffed with the highest rank of capable emergency doctors, administrative personnel, and nurses. Highly trained and skilled staffs to help the patients and families relax (Sharp, 2012). Sharp Chula Vista Emergency Room underwent a $12 million expansion that will triple up its capacity and will increase its original size from 8,000 square feet to 14,500 square feet (Sharp, 2012). This change will most definitely provide a more pleasant atmosphere to patients, and their families. The expansion is for the well- being of the public and the facility, which is set to develop the reconstruction or extension of the outpatient clinic. Community or Facility Need of the Building There is a need for strategic planning within any business or healthcare organization. Facility Planning Iii

...Facility Planning III Facility Planning III Throughout this paper we are going to look at the facility that I chose to design. Then we are to look at what I could have done differently. Then we are going to look at what I have learned from this experience. So let us get started. My Facility I chose to add on to an urgent care clinic in order to expand the clinic so they could meet more patients needs. What I could have done differently is the layout of the facility so I could have made more use of the space and fit more things in. This away all clients’ needs could have been met in one convenient area. I feel that every patient’s needs are different and not all of their needs can be net in the same way or by the exact same services. I have learned that this is a very difficult process and should not be taken lightly. There is a great deal that is put into these facilities so they can met the needs of their patients. I know see that this would take months of planning. It cannot be done in a short amount of time because you will be liable to leave out some important things or the design might not be all it can be. Also the building material needs to be looked at as well because saving money now might mean spending more money later. If you spend a little extra now then you can save to improve and add on to the clinic again later. Like I had stated before this does take months of planning and to me I have noticed several things looking over what I...

Thus, this evidence will give resource and facts of examination of budget planning and cost estimates, a list of different type of equipment needed, the description of the role of stakeholders’ in facility planning and development. For many years regulation and technical requirement have been affected by less needs and pressures. Which include workforce shortage, malpractice insurance and reimbursement. Although, since 60 to 75% of hospital expenses are labor costs, a design that increases operational productivity or efficiency and reduces staffing needs can have a major impact on the bottom line. (www.wbdg.org/design). Thus, regulatory requirements has an effect on state, local and federal laws. Many ordinance have more stringent requirement, such as zoning laws and building codes. In additional safety laws and other laws have to address before construction started. Federal and state laws relating to privacy (HIPAA), waste management (OSHA & EPA), environmental hazards (OSHA & EPA), and other emerging concerns have the potential to affect the design of a dental clinic...
