Chau University of Hong Kong Olivia R. Liu Sheng University of Arizona Abstract Recent advances in information and biomedicine technology have significantly increased the technical feasibility, clinical viability and economic affordability of telemedicine-assisted service collaboration and delivery. ...COPING MECHANISM Task-oriented / problem-focused coping Problem focused coping also referred to active coping involves controlling managing stress by directly altering situations Edward, 1999. It alters either the environment itself the environment interacts. This type reaction of coping is more stressor and it tends to be used by the people with high score on the big fire personality super factor conscientiousness Watson & Hubbar, 1996. Emotion-oriented / emotion-focused coping In contrast, emotion coping strategies involves the individual’s attempts to regulate emotional responses to, and decrease the effects of a stressful situation Edwards, 1999. This coping strategy can change a person’s emotional response to the stressor. This type of coping usually decreases arousal. People are likely to adopt emotion-focused coping itself and so they must alter their perception of, or responses to, the stressors. Studies with male participants have indicated that those perceiving less control over events are less likely to use problem-focused strategies involving direct actions and more likely to use emotion-focused strategies such as distraction and emotion support David&Sals, 1999. If he doesn’t think anything he does at work ultimately affects whether he gets did off, he is less likely to use active coping strategies. Another type of emotion-focused is venting. ...relationship between family socio-economic status (SES) and the academic performance of children is well established in sociological research.2 While there is disagreement over how best to measure SES, most studies indicate that children from low SES families do not perform as well as they potentially could at school compared to children from high SES families (Graetz, 1995). Most studies, however, compare students from across all SES backgrounds to reach the conclusion that low SES adversely affects a range of educational outcomes. Another important dimension, however, is the factors that may influence educational outcomes within particular SES bands. This paper presents data on the educational performance of children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds and examines its variation as affected by traditional measures of SES as well as by a range of other family, individual and contextual factors. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM The purpose of this study is to know the problems encountered by the Grade Seven students of Dona Aurora National High School and the effects of these problems on their academic performance in school. More specifically, the investigation seeks to answer the following questions: 1. Do the following problem areas affect the academic performance of the students? a. Family b. Academics c. Study habits d. Social relationship e. Finance f. Health 2. How do these areas rank according to the number of frequencies of the specific problems ...

...Factors Affecting College Students’ Motivation A thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of requirements for the College of Arts and Sciences Major in Psychology By Imelda Tolentino Josan Alejandra Valle Charize Faith Laciste Mirriam Calimlim Arellano University-Pasig September, 2013 Chapter I Introduction Studying is said to be the primary key to achieve academic excellence, but what factors really driven students to study? Others might say that fears motivate students while others might claim that you should give them tough classes and they will pull through. Some teaching faculty would say that students are motivated because of their personal goals in life. Yes, you could ask everyone but they would just answer in different opinions. The disagreement about the sources of student motivation makes the question of academic motivation sound a great deal like that of workplace motivation. Management theory abounds with contradictory theories about what makes employees work. Maslow (1968) argued that needs drive behaviour, and that workplace (and, presumably, academic) motivation is determined by the level of the needs hierarchy at which the individual is operating. McClelland (1966) claimed instead that motivation is driven by an innate need to achieve, and Herzberg (1959) proposed that the content of the jobs themselves was the source of the elusive employee motivation. The purpose of this research was to align explanations for student motivation with classical workplace...

Strategy of the organization ii. VUCA environment iii. Nature of the jobs Strategy of the organization If the organization growth plan is by acquisitions and mergers, then there is a chance that the organization might have to reduce their manpower because the firm that they are acquiring or merging will have employees who are already doing similar kind of jobs. So there is a chance that might be the same posts in both the organizations and if one person can do the work of both the organizations after the acquisition/merger, then the organization might consider the exit or transfer of one of them. On the contrary, if the organization is planning organic growth, then they might need...
