...Research by Coe (2009) demonstrates that mixing consoles started out in the 1950s as purely analog, devices with only one or two channels. As more purposes for mixing consoles appeared, more options began to develop. Transformations in electronics supplied the digital technology needed for these new functions. While digital mixing consoles have more features, many users still prefer analog mixers due to their ease of use. Hybrid mixing consoles, combining both digital and analog inputs into one piece of hardware, retain the advantages of the old while also integrating the features of the new. Traditional analog mixers combine signals using analog techniques. On an analog mixer, each of the inputs has a fader that feeds into a master amplifier. The master amplifier also has a fader that controls the overall loudness. These sounds are combined, routed and modified as electrical signals. A digital mixer takes each sound signal input and converts it to a rapid stream of numbers called analog-to-digital...

...Fader wrote, (p. 12) “But the casual forces behind the precarious position of young men of color are structural and cannot be disassembled by one person’s good intentions.” This passage was both important and true for me, but it is often rejected as so. It says that there is more than just one thing or problem that most young men of color have to fight against. Their position in society is in fact precarious, it waivers and changes suddenly through forces often out of their control. However, these structural forces cannot be destroyed or maintained by one individual. The good intentions of one member of society, including the man of color himself, is not enough to breakdown the system that is working against them. Society has the ability...

...Tekken’s F1 Ultimate FX Mapping v2.1 This mapping can be used beside the default Kontrol F1 mapping. All the controls of the Remix Decks are still available. You can change between this effect mapping and the default F1 mapping with the buttons "Shift" + "Browse" anytime. Installation: 1. Load the .nckf1 file into the Native Instruments controller editor (not the controller editor in Traktor): Open the editor and choose your F1. Then click “edit” on the right side and append the .nckf1 file. 2. Backup your own Traktor controller mappings (if necessary), because they will be overwritten in the next step. Use the "Export" button in the preferences. 3. Load the .tsi file into the Traktor controller editor (not the Native Instruments controller editor) with the BIG “Import” button (at the bottom of the Traktor preferences). A window opens and you have to select both available boxes. It is important to do this import twice. Now eight new Tekken midi mappings should be in the Traktor controller editor (in the preferences under “Device”). Click each of these mappings and check if the “In-Port” and “Out-Port” are set to your Kontrol F1. 4. In the Traktor preferences, in the “Traktor Kontrol F1” tab, switch the “MIDI Mode Type” to “MIDI Mode”. 5. Restore your own controller mappings from step 2 (if necessary). Now use the SMALL "Import" button. (Traktor Preferences -> Controller Manager -> Add... -> Import) 6. Activate the mapping (see “Usage” below). 7. If there is a problem...

...POST on an AUX send output mean? (2 marks) Auxiliary sends are usually used for two purposes. They are used to send signals to an audio processor or FX unit, such as reverb, or to an entirely separate monitor mix for musicians, for example a headphone send. The engineer can manipulate this send either before or after the signal comes through the mixing desk, hence the need for pre and post fade. Pre-fader auxiliary sends are used for the to monitor the mix. When adjustments are made whilst using pre-fader auxiliary sends, the musicians would not hear it, although it would be heard the front-of-house. For example, if an acoustic cello was using pick-up, which needed equaliser (EQ) applied, the cellist would not hear the adjustments through their foldback, although the audience would. Post-fade auxiliary sends are used for connecting external effects or dynamic processors, henceforth the signal is sent to the processor from an auxiliary send and re-enters the mixer through an auxiliary return. The effected signal would then be raised or lowered by the channel fader. So, when a post-fader auxiliary send is used, the musician would be able to hear the different in sound once it has been applied. 6. Describe the function of the 48V/Phantom (+48v) switch on a mixer. Provide an example of a time when you have used phantom power correctly in a recording session. (2 marks) Phantom power is 48 volts of direct current and is used to send power to condenser microphones that contain active...

...Are Participation Trophies Good Your team loses every game and at the end of the season you get rewarded. People have been talking about whether participation trophies are good or bad for kids. I stand on the side against participation trophies. There are many reasons why I am against participation trophies. One of them being you don’t need to be rewarded for everything you do. The article Jonathan Fader Ph.D. wrote states that you are more committed by doing a sport out of passion than focusing on results. Instead of a trophy tell them what they did well and what they can improve on. Jonathan Fader also said if you give them stuff for winning it can be harder to deal with a loss. James Harrison from the Pittsburgh Steelers says you should...

...The stage set up remains the same, with microphones, amplifiers, speakers monitors, and other gear that might be necessary. The mixer made and provided by Augmented Acoustics, contains a transmitter, allowing the engineer to send the mix to be received by the Peeble itself(Trenholm). The headphones are connected to the headphone auxiliary import on the Peeble box, and the Peeble then easily interacts with the phone application via Bluetooth. The audience can then freely mix the performance on the application with the features that it contains. The application contains and overall gain fader, a 10 band equalizer, ranging from 32Hz to 16kHz, and ranging from 12dB to -12dB. It also contains individual gain faders for each instrument in the mix(Augmented Acoustics). Moreover, the Peeble includes a synchronization system to avoid any echo from the physical sound in the room(Augmented Acoustics). At last, the artist can be clearly heard from any point in the venue. Augment Acoustics has been brought to a few shows in France, including Foud'Rock Festival and the Jazz over the Osie festival, all bringing in positive reviews(Trenholm). A few of their partners include Bose, Alcatel Lucent, and France Digital, and they hope to gain I bigger audience for the upcoming years(Augmented...

Torben. ...Under the deal, Microsoft gets 12% of the revenue Yahoo generates from search ads that appear next to search results on its websites. Because the combined search-ad system was expected to face challenges initially, Microsoft guaranteed a certain level of revenue for every search query done on Yahoo's sites. Jordan Rohan, an analyst at Stifel Nicholas & Co., estimated that Microsoft's revenue-per-search guarantee is worth about $12 million to $15 million per quarter. The deal terms between Microsoft and Yahoo mean that the partnership can only be called off if either Microsoft closes or sells Bing, or if Yahoo's revenue per search falls below 40 percent of Google's. * The deal is the next step in the 10-year Microsoft Bing and Yahoo search merger, which was announced in July 2009. Under the plan, Microsoft’s Bing search engine will power Yahoo Search and its ad sales. Microsoft will get 12 percent of revenue from Yahoo searches. In August, the two companies announced that Bing was now powering Yahoo Search. “This will provide advertisers with the benefit of a combined marketplace through a single platform, creating a competitive alternative in search,” said David Pann, general manager of the Microsoft Advertising Search Network. “Rather than managing campaigns on Bing and Yahoo! Separately, advertisers can now reach the combined audience of both search engines by managing a single account, saving time and simplifying campaign management.” But in all honesty...

...August Strindberg August föddes i Stockholm 1849. Strindberg...

...Mountain Man Light: More Profits or Less Brand Equity? TMBA BBUS 506 A Michael Cavelero, Joel Engstrom, Nesreen Zadah, David Tobey 5/3/2010 1 | P a g e Introduction "We are not here to sell a parcel of boilers and vats, but the potentiality of growing rich beyond the dreams of avarice." – Samuel Johnson, ‘On the Sale of Thrale’s Brewery’ “Some of those coal miners could really drink some beer. We would always stay until closing time, and it happened so many times that the busses were not running anymore. Many weekends we’d get back early in the morning, and we had to be at the coal mines at six in the morning. All we could do was change our clothes, take our lunch bag and go to work.” – Jeff Noordermeer, ‘Fifty Years of My Life’ It should surprise no one that West Virginia is beer country. Originally “beyond the pale” of European settlement in Virginia Colony, the Appalachian Mountains were nevertheless welltraversed by Scottish traders hawking spirits to the resident Cherokee. The cessation of the French-Indian war in the 1760s brought permanent settlement by Welshmen, Germans and even more English – all of whom fancied a solid stout. The 1800s saw the start of the long coal boom that transformed Appalachian society, converting subsistence farmers into coal miners and commercializing beer production to meet rising demand. That trend continues today: so popular is beer that West Virginia University has classes on the subject. Mountain Man Brewing Company...
