Hi! I'm Ellie Jaber, a teenager from Uniontown, Ohio. Currently, I'm in my sitting room, listening to Cut Throat Kitchen, trying to market myself and my cause. But I don't have to do that. God's got my back one way or another in this. "What's this?" You might ask, humming Fall Out Boy while you do. I'd like to go on a mission trip to Chicago with my youth group, Tribe. We'd be working with children in after school and summer programs, spending time with our homeless brothers and sisters, and learning about the cultures that call Chicago home. During all of this, we'll be connecting with God, getting out into his world and opening our eyes. To be able to do this, I'm relying on the support of those who are able to help in any

...HITCHCOCK – The Clear Falls High School varsity girls cross country team gave a nice season-opening statement about their plans for the 2015 campaign, following a strong performance at Dickinson High School’s Swamp Classic at Jack Brooks Park Friday morning. In the Varsity Blue Division, the Lady Knights captured fourth place with 103 points. Rival Clear Lake cornered fifth with 142 points. Powerhouse Kingwood was tops with 45, College Park claimed runner-up honors with 84 and 22-6A foe Pearland Dawson nipped Clear Falls for third place with 101 points. The Swamp Classic course was a two-loop challenge over flat terrain. From the starting line by a pavilion, runners headed north over open field for several hundred yards, eventually turning around and headed south along woods, before turning back north again. After the second trip, they reached the finish chute, close to the starting line. It was a challenging course to say the least, certainly not one meant for PRs to take place. With medals going to the Top-30 runners, The Lady Knights came home with plenty of medals. Pacing the squad was returning letterman Jennifer White, who was clocked with the strong 5K time of 20 minutes and 12 seconds. The five-fastest times were all under 20 minutes. Winning the medalist championship was Pearland Dawson’s move-in from South Dakota, Abbie Harrelson. Harrelson, a junior, who competed at the 6A state championship last November, took top honors with the...

Landscape With The Fall Of Icarus

...In both “Musee des Beaux Arts” and Landscape with the Fall of Icarus by W.H. Auden, and Pieter Bruegel the Elder, it is evident that Icarus although supposedly being the main subject of the two mediums lack the elements that makes it stands out. Foremost, Landscape with the Fall of Icarus by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, is a painting that depicts the fall for Icarus; however, as seen in the painting the only body part visible to the viewers’ eyes are Icarus’ tiny legs peeping out of the water. Due to how tiny his legs are drawn, it takes away the important role Icarus plays in the painting. Not only that, Icarus appears at the corner of the painting instead of the center of the masterpiece. Usually the subject of a painting tend to appears in...

Analysis Of Donna Jo Napoli's Stones In Water

...Could you imagine how bad the Holocaust really was?Everything that happened to people the torture people had to go threw. The book I read was Stones in Water. By Donna Jo Napoli. This book was about a boy named roberto who was going to see a movie with his friends and got pulled out of the movie theaters and taken away from his family and brought to a concentration camp.Who then had to find a way to survive it. The passage I chose was “He pointed to the shore and said something. Then he walked to the edge of the wood and blew the whistle. The boys hurried to line up. Roberto came out of the water slowly, with Enzo close behind and off to the side and away from the other boys.”Didn’t you love it?” whispered Enzo. “For a little while I pretended I was home” “ Love it?”(Napoli 50). The theme of this novel is finding light in the darkness. This was demonstrated when Roberto experienced how his friend was thinking of memories about water and his family. He thought about the water because he had to go into the lake. He found light in the darkness by thinking of a happy time in his life during a bad time to help him think about his family. So from him remembering that it made it more fun and he stayed a little more calm....

...Coke – Ethical Issues “Our product is quite healthy. Fluid replenishment is a key to health. Coke does a great service because it encourages people to take in more and more liquids.” - Michael Douglas Investor, Coke’s Chairman and CEO. “Public schools are funded by the public to educate the children as provided by state law. It is totally inappropriate that its facilities and employees are being used by corporations to increase their own profits on public time and with public dollars.” Dr. Brita Butler-Wall, Executive Director, Citizens’ Campaign for Commercial-Free Schools, US. THE RECALL On June 13, 1999, Coca-Cola[1] (Coke) recalled over 15 million cans and bottles after the Belgian Health Ministry announced a ban on Coke’s drinks, which were suspected of making more than 100 school children ill in the preceding six days. This recall was in addition to the 2.5 million bottles that had already been recalled in the previous week. The company’s products namely Coke, Diet Coke and Fanta had been bottled[2] in Antwerp, Ghent and Wilrijk, Belgium while some batches of Coke, Diet Coke, Fanta and Sprite were also produced in Dunkirk, France. Children at six schools in Belgium had complained of headache, nausea, vomiting and shivering which ultimately led to hospitalization after drinking Coke’s beverages. Social Inequalities Between Men and Women in Morocco

...Maria Ghannam SSC 2302 Dr. Carlos F. Jacques Final paper Social inequalities between men and women in Morocco Fall 2012 The new Moroccan Constitution adopted on the 1st of July 2011 by the Kingdom is a historical event that recognizes the principle of equality between men and women, and commit to respect it. In its preamble, it condemns discrimination based on sex, it states that, "the Kingdom of Morocco is committed to fight and ban any discrimination against any person because of its gender." Despite the social progress made since fifty years (gradual increase in the participation of women in the labor market, steady rise in the level of girls' education), social inequality between men and women remain (especially in terms of employment, career, salary and pension). Beyond the already identified causes explaining these inequalities (academic orientation, gender discrimination in hiring, etc.), it is suggested that there is a possibility that this situation is due primarily to the persistence of established roles of men and women in society, which is especially evident within the family unit. Throughout this paper, I am going to define what exactly means a social inequality, then talk about the social inequalities between men and women in Morocco, and finally tell you about social change and movement for emancipation of women. First of all, I cannot talk about social inequalities between men and women, without explaining what it exactly...

Raleigh Case

...4353 OCTOBER 10, 2011 ROBERT SIMONS MICHAEL MAHONEY Raleigh & Rosse: Measures to Motivate Exceptional Service Grasping the iconic “golden horseshoe” door handle, CEO Linda Watkins strode into Raleigh & Rosse’s Palm Springs, California, store and surveyed the sales floor. Ambient lighting was subdued while hidden halogen ceiling lamps artfully spotlighted merchandise and signage. Display cases made from polished exotic woods projected visual warmth and sophistication. A harpist played Mozart crisply in the background. It was just over a week into January 2010, and the store, swept clean of holiday decorations, had bright spring colors on display. Watkins noticed many sales associates engaged with customers, but foot traffic was below expectations for a Saturday afternoon. Her cellphone rang. “Linda, I got your voicemail. Raleigh & Rosse is being sued by its sales associates in a class action lawsuit?” asked Brian Rosse. He could barely contain his anger. Watkins moved to a quiet corner of the sales floor. “Sorry, Brian. R&R was served notice late Friday,” she said. “Looks like it’s a rehash of the ‘working off the clock’ charges that we dealt with last year. Logan [R&R’s general counsel] isn’t too worried about the merits.” “But think about the negative publicity, the damage to our brand and image!” “We’ve already engaged our PR agency to work on communications strategy. This is not great news, Brian, but I’m determined to find a way to manage it. Why don’t we discuss the...
