...Fester that he had to be there to answer questions about the project that Knowlton did not know. The insecurity that Knowlton had toward Fester stemmed from a comment that Dr. Jerrold had said to him several years ago, “people who produce results get ahead in this outfit”. This quote although it seemed innocuous at the time, set Knowlton up for failure when he took the quote to heart and felt like only if he was generating all the ideas could he get ahead in the company. Knowlton was blind to the fact that regardless of who was running the morning meeting he would have received the credit for a job well done and a completed project. Theory The Theory of Hyper Emotion is relevant to this case. This theory states that a cognitive evaluation initiates a sequence of unconscious transitions yielding a basic emotion. ...LESSEN THE IMPACT OF DIVORCE Michael Jennings DeVry University Lessen the Impact of Divorce Charlie is 9 years old and lives in a single parent home where the parent works to support the family, where not much time is spent with Charlie, who must figure certain things out on his own. Where does Charlie go after school? If no one is home having Charlie home alone is not a very good option. If siblings or friends are there but, no adult is present during the after school hours, home is still not a very good option. The term “latch-key” kid is one who has their own key to their home and is expected to be home with minimal supervision. Once a child reaches a certain responsible age, being a latch-key kid often makes sense. Charlie must get home safe from school, stay out of trouble, and complete his homework, with little to no adult supervision. After-school activities should be available to Charlie because he may not be responsible enough or his parents may not trust him to be home alone yet. Everyone is affected by the consequences of parental divorce, especially the children involved. In any society, the children are the future. In the United States alone, 40 to 50% of first marriages end in divorce, according to the American Psychological Association. As citizens of the United States, we are all stakeholders of our future and should care about the well-being of all our children, especially those of disadvantaged environments such as parental divorce. No more! You will not continue to profit on the broken backs and weary shoulders of we, the people! You will not destroy the American dream with your greed!” They did not leave, but hoisted tents and unrolled sleeping bags to “Occupy Wall Street” (Smith, 2011). Since that day, the movement has spread across the country, from New York up the coast to Boston, down the coast through Washington to Miami, and across the country through Chicago and St. Louis all the way to Los Angeles, from large metropolises to small towns across America. It has become a genuine social and political movement, utilizing both old media such as newspapers and television news and new media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube (Ellis, Raja & Follman, 2011). Major labor unions, such as National Nurses United, the AFL-CIO, the Communications Workers of America, the United Auto Workers, the United Federation of Teachers, the Writers Guild...

...includes more than business skill, extending to integration into the existing executive team as well as the total human resource silo the executive will ultimately oversee. This overall fit is assessed in order to prevent "derailment" (Fisher and Congel, 2009, p. 24) through conflict or loss of credibility at the head of a changing and challenging culture. Job development takes place prior to selection and incorporates the needs and objectives of the stakeholders who will depend on the new executive, presumably reducing the likelihood of revolt during and after transition and facilitating success before individual talent is even invited. Once these "critical roles" are defined, getting "the right people" in them occurs through extensive evaluation and ranking in partnership with leadership development contractors and concerned stakeholders. Three distinct stages take place after selection, from the first day, then at mid-point after the first quarter or so, and finally at the end of the first year (Fisher...

...Marco Crespo Professor Joyce Martin En12 07 February, 2014 Phytoremediation: Seeing Through a Beneficial Solution An accident happened on April 26, 1986, when a unexpected surge of power during a system test destroyed unit 4 of the nuclear power station at Chernobyl in Ukraine, former Soviet Union. A devastating amount of radioactive material was released into the environment. 30 kilometres around the plant around the plant was closed after the accident. About one hundred fifteen thousand people were evacuated around 1986 and in the following years, about two hundred thousand more were also forced to vacate. Sadly, the problem did not end there. Three years after the incident, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) assessed the situation around the Chernobyl. Toxic metals and radioactive emission like iodine, cesium-137, plutonium and strontium were found in the plants, soil and even animals. Ever since 1991, the Canadian Nuclear Association also noted that there is a sudden increase in the rate of thyroid cancer. This is happened because cesium-137 or radioactive cesium, with a mass number of 137, has the capability to enter the food chain and can be delivered around an internal dosage of radiation before it can be metabolically eliminated. To prevent this from spreading, livestock were only fed plants that are uncontaminated or plants that cannot accumulate heavy metals. After that, a method was introduced to clean the soil from the toxins. This is called...
