...this article and the Payne article of 2008, it talks about how taxing it can be to work with a sex offender. It shows that if a clinician has another professional to speak to about their offenders, it provides them an outlet. If there is not outlet it is often seen that working with a sex offender is detrimental to their practice. The third topic talks about how the clinician needs to maintain boundaries. Working with these offenders can often spark intense emotions, which need to be set aside in order to help the offender. The last topic talks about addressing policies after practice. This topic goes on to explain that most offenders are from the same family or a close family member meaning the current law does not target these individuals. The other section of this final topic talks about how the family will often shun the family member who did commit these acts, because they are ashamed to be associated with the...

...Hollywood has done a great job of painting out the picture of your average Minority figure. Correct me if I’m wrong but most movies and/or T.V. shows paint minorities out to be illiterate, lazy, have violent behavior and guaranteed to be imprisoned at least once in their lifetime. Which brings me to my topic: Disparity in America’s prison system. It’s an undisputed fact that there are more Blacks and Hispanics in America’s prison system compared to whites but how can that be when there is far more Whites in America’s population as a whole? The real problem, however, is that when thinking about disparity in America’s prisons we need not to look at it being racially motivated but to focus on the contributing factors behind it. Factors such as family, socioeconomic inequalities such as education and jobs, and legal representation. Not only should these factors be considered but we also need to look at alternative methods that can be taken to prevent imprisonment for non-violent and petty offenses. By the time you finish reading this paper hopefully you get some understanding behind the madness that has a lot of Minorities questioning the U.S. justice system. The United States Justice symbol is supposed to represent equality for everyone no matter the race, color, or creed. The land of the free is what it is other countries see it as yet some Americans feel trapped by a system set up for them to fail. According to a study done in 2005 Blacks covered 12.6% of the world population and...

...Sally Ngo 3/23/2015 Professor Davis Mass School Shootings Should Not Get Media Attention “So our hearts are broken today -- for the parents and grandparents, sisters and brothers of these little children, and for the families of the adults who were lost. Our hearts are broken for the parents of the survivors as well, for as blessed as they are to have their children home tonight, they know that their children’s innocence has been torn away from them too early, and there are no words that will ease their pain…” Obama delivered this speech to the solemn crowd about the horrific school shooting that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. Should the media be allow to broadcast school shootings? The media is an accomplice in almost every single public shoot out. Nobody realize the risks local television stations and radio stations are doing by broadcasting school shooting. Could the media be at fault for creating mass shooters? Yes, because when events like this occurs, all major television stations drops their current duties and focus their attention on the shooting, and suddenly it becomes a major media event. Because they want to be the one who has the breaking news first. And that is what the perpetrator is aiming for; to become famous. The perpetrator now a name for him or herself and instantly he/she becomes an overnight celebrity. All major television and radio stations will talk about nothing else but him/her, the spotlight will primarily...

...Chapter #4 assignments Antisocial Behaviour/yob culture A - Essay In the handout there is a article where it is been making clear, that teens who leaves school before 18 could face criminal action, and I agree, but there is also standing that young people from poor families is considered to help stay in full time education without dropping out, and this is here I see the problem. Cause in the United States, you have to pay to start on an education, and what about those families how cant afford it? Should the parents just watch their kids walk out in the criminal zone, or what should they do? In our country you study for free, the most of the time, so here there is space for every kind of person, rich than poor. And that also means that more people complete their education and become something in the future, instead of dropping out and go the criminal way. But in the fact that the education is for free in Denmark means, that most of the students are taking the education for granted, and it is only few students who really care about the education, where against the US school system, where you strive because it is difficult to enter. All of this is also a picture of a normal behavior problem, the more you get, the more you want, and I think that this is one of the problems for the young peoples behavior in recent time. In the US you are either rich or poor, and that could be one of the big reasons for these yob cultures. Because when you don’t have that much money...

...Writer’s Reflection When I heard the assignment for Inquiry Two, I was quite excited. I had heard of “Waiting For Superman,” but had never really had the chance to watch it. The topic of it is something that I am extremely passionate about and was eager to learn more about. So I happily watched the documentary and quickly whipped out a first draft (rough rough draft) without even really having to think about it- the words just poured out. However, when writing my real rough draft, I tried to focus a bit more on the rhetorical appeals. My revision process on Inquiry Two was much more rigorous than my typical revision process. At my meeting with Bridget for my conference on my rough draft of Inquiry 2, she had me read my paper aloud. Reading it out loud made me realize how focused the paper really was on my thoughts and my opinions on the topic of the documentary. There was way too much emphasis on my thoughts on the public school systems of America, and not nearly enough rhetorical analysis of the documentary. I wrote what felt like millions of drafts and printed them all out and scribbled all over them. I also used Bridget as resource and took her ideas and comments into considering my final draft. Overall, I tried to focus the paper much more on a rhetorical analysis of the film instead of my own opinions on the issue (those can come in Inquiry Three!). Waiting for “Superman” Waiting for “Superman” examines one of the most heated debates in today’s political society:...

...Nadir Berrada Geological Science March 5th, 2013 Tsunamis: A deeper look into Bayona’s movie “The Impossible” A tsunami, or “harbor wave” in Japanese, is describes as the result of a sequence of water waves which is caused by the upset, or displacement, of a massive volume of a body of water, usually either an ocean or a vast lake. The awareness for tsunamis has risen tremendously as they have become less rare in the current and previous century. As this destructive force has made a great impact in today’s talk over natural disasters, scientists all over the world, media, as well as Hollywood directors have all decided to dig deeper into tsunamis. This paper will discuss the numerous scientific principles that cause tsunamis to occur, various effects of these seismic sea waves, different methods on how they can be prevented, the impact of recent tsunamis had around the globe, and finally how the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami was portrayed in Juan Antonio Bayona’s movie, “The Impossible”. There are four possible elements that cause a tsunami to form. These factors, from most likely to occur to least likely respectively include, earthquakes, submarine landslides, submarine volcanic eruptions, and large meteorites crashing in the ocean (Magnus). In order to better comprehend the causes that make a tsunami, it is important to have a better knowledge about earthquakes. Earthquakes are formed alongside certain faults, which are fractures in the Earth’s crust. As these fractured plates...

...population growth. In the third stage, a mature industrial society, the higher standard of living makes raising children expensive and without the need for cheap child labor children become a liability so birth rates drop along with the continued drop in death rates. The postindustrial society stage is where demographic transition completes, dual income families with few children become the norm and death rates remain steady causing a slow population growth or a decline. In this theory it is easy to see how a society’s population is linked to its technological development. 2. Explain what you think the urban ecology theories and the urban political economy theory teach us about cities. Urban ecology theory explains that the first cities emerged in fertile farmlands where the agrarian society’s lived, then as the societies became more concerned with defense they found natural landscapes to protect their cities such as mountains or rivers. Rivers and harbors later became even more important as a means of trade and source of power for the industrial revolution. Social area analysis added that people created neighborhoods with other people they share cultural customs or interests with. Also urban ecology explains how a layout of a city is created by concentric zones with business in the center and factories around them and...
