...The person I am interviewing and who I think has an interesting past is my mother Maria. She has been my rock for the past 20 years she is filled with happiness, knowledge, laughter and love. My mother taught me everything I know, she taught me the right from wrong, she taught me how to treat others and most important she taught me how to love. Maria grew up poor in Jalisco Mexico but then immigrated to the United States and gave birth to my sister, me and my little brother. I asked my mother a couple questions about her past and the answers I received were astonishing. “Family tales were a great way to pass the time in my family.” Every time when we are at a family gathering my mother will always bring up some child hood memories of the family. Like the time when I was three years old, all my teeth had fallen out and I was basically toothless but I only...

...My interviewee was Argentina Raudales, my mom. She was born on April 22, 1953, in Esquías, Comayagua, Honduras. She spoke of anecdotes about her childhood and why she moved to the United States, yet she was kept in a bubble by her parents about the wars and disagreements happening around her country and neighboring countries. I chose to interview my mom because she would always tell me stories about her childhood, yet she never told me anything bad happening in Honduras but because of history, I know civil wars were happening in Central America during the time she was growing up. My grandfather was in the military, but when he got married to my grandmother he left the military and worked in agriculture. During the 50’s and 60’s, he decided...

...Gathering Research Data Paper Hayley Lacy CJA/334 April 11, 2016 Rhonda Grant Gathering Research Data Paper Police officers are viewed by the masses of Americans that they are sworn to protect as the men and women in blue. They have sworn to protect the innocent and keep them from harm’s way and in turn do much more than that for their community. It takes an extraordinaire person to be a police officer. They are someone who is willing to dedicate their lives, health and safety in order to protect those who depend on them. In this paper we will attempt to address and research an interest that has been voiced concerning police officers and their jobs. In this paper we will state the purpose behind our proposed research. We will inform you of the interview structure we will use and we will inform you as to some of the questions that we would ask. We will give distinct advantages of a qualitative data-gathering strategy, such as participant observation, over more qualitative approaches. We will inform you when conducting survey research the importance of informed consent and confidentiality. It is a common conception that police officers choose their particular career path simply because they are inheriting a family member’s desire. They choose to be an officer because their father or their mother or a relative was an officer. It is a common conception that officers are not chosen they are inherited and expected to be from family. This area of interest is something...

...Applied Nursing Research The nursing topic of interest is bedside handover, which is the concept of conducting shift handover at the patient’s bed instead of doing it at the front desk. Part A The article being analysed is: Tobiano, G., Chaboyer, W. & Murray, A. (2012). Family Members’ Perceptions of the Nursing Bedside Handover. Journal of Clinical Nursing, 22, 192-200. The analysis of the primary research report is done in the form of a graph (figure 1). Each of the four analysis areas is rated within a scale of 1-10; 1 denotes extremely weak while 10 denotes very strong. Table 1 then gives justifications for the rating by explaining why each area of analysis was rated that way in the analysis chart. According to current official statistics, the number of Japanese Overseas Students with a bachelor’s degree at above studying in Tianjin (TJ) accounted for 1,906, 1,681, and 1,971 respectively in 2010, 2011, and 2012, dramatically doubling that of a decade ago. As a result of the above situations, I could not help coming up with the questions like why they are primarily female students and what education migration of Japanese Overseas Students (EMJOS) could bring to the political, economic and cross-cultural aspects of TJ society as well as what attitude we should harbour towards this trend (Appendix 1). I will compare EMJOS with two other metropolises in order to make...

...2008 I decided I wanted to be a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nurse. After delivering my daughter, my family and I became intimately familiar with what the PICU was. The PICU staff was dedicated to my daughter and our family. We were part of a PICU family for three months while my daughter’s heart condition was being treated. Those were the hardest three months of my life and at the same time they opened my eyes to the importance of a nurse in this role. PICU nurses are not only caregivers but also a support system. I propose to further research nursing in a PICU to make sure I fully understand the scope of my future career. The responsibilities of a PICU nurse are to assess and monitor the patient, provide care, and to communicate and support the family as a whole. I plan to use this semester to further research about the responsibilities of a PICU nurse by finding online information, conducting an interview with a PICU nurse and to interview PICU family members. I believe the interviews will allow me to see the importance of being a valuable member of a PICU nursing staff as well as a way to better assist the family members as their loved one is being cared for. In conclusion, I propose to research the responsibilities of a PICU nurse by conducting online research and interviews with a current PICU nurse and PICU family members. The goal of my research paper is to give myself a better understanding of the expectations of my career. I also want to expound on the impact...

...Current Business Research Paper June 20,2011 RES/341 Jack McNicholas Parent Drug Education This paper is a synopsis about an article of choice. The synopsis is will define the business research and the purpose of the article, any problems that may be under investigation, the methods used in collecting the data for the research and what was concluded as a result of the research. The article that was chosen is an article about parents and the education they have on drug use with younger children. It researches how parents can better communicate with younger people about drug use. Business Research and Purpose Parent drug education is very important part of drug prevention in young people. Effective communication can be a factor that protects drug misuse in young people. Business research is defined as a “systematic and organized effort to investigate a specific problem that may be encountered in the work setting, or that needs a solution” (Sekaran, U. 2003). Drugs use is most likely to not be openly talked about among parents and younger people. The purpose of this research was to help parents to find more ways to be able to communicate more successfully and productively with young people and to help communication be the key factor of any parent drug prevention (Shapiro, 1998). Data Collection Methods & Research Results The methods that were used to collect data were qualitative multi-methods. This method was used to establish parents (n=6) and young people...

...Research with Children and Young People | Paper Critique This essay will outline and evaluate the role of ‘Listening to Children’ (Walker, Crawford, & Taylor, 2008) in the current paper and reflect on other relevant research on the ‘voices’ of children and young people. Firstly it will discuss the methods which can be used to write a literature review, leading on to critiquing the research contained in the journal article. When beginning a literature review it is important to identify the methodological assumptions and research strategies that have been adopted for constructing the research (Hart, 1998). Methodology is a system of methods used to collect data and provides a starting point for choosing an approach made up of theories, ideas, concepts and definitions of the topic (Hart, 1998). There are two ways in which data can be collected – quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative research involves summarising data using statistical numbers. The researcher knows in advance what he/she is looking for and all aspects of the study are carefully designed before the data is collected. The objective of quantitative research is to develop and employ mathematical models and theories which are hypothesised prior to the research being conducted. The qualitative approach to data collection involves research being collected via the use of primarily narrative or verbal methods; observations, interviews, and document analysis (Lodico, Spaulding, & Voegtle, 2010). It is important...
