The relationship between student should reach its max when it comes to being Facebook friends. The relationship needs some room to breathe because Facebook allows people to see other people's business. Most of the time, students befriend other students, allowing all people to see their profiles by just looking at the students friends. The same goes for teachers, students can see all the teachers' friends profiles because the accepted the friend request. It’s an invasion of privacy for the students and the teachers. Facebooks is a site not only for people to share their feelings, people also get on there to snoop on their friends and feed off of the comments that cause conflicts. In that case, students could see the comments that their teachers post on Facebook. This could actually lead to an accidental sighting of their teachers feelings and/or secrets, and end up actually offending the student. There are problems, such as gossip, that can be leaked to the student in some cases. The teacher might post something about a troubled student; if the student has befriended the teacher, he/she could see the post. The teacher could get in a lot of trouble for talking about one of their students on social media. Some of the comments could lead to a bad impression as well. Same thing goes for the student as well. every day there are students that go to Facebook to talk about and start...

...Stephanie Miller English 1020 11/26/13 Research essay Your life is busy and you try to keep up with your family and friends. What better way than social media? Most people use things like Facebook, twitter, Myspace, emails, and Skype. When your single and looking to date or a way to meet new people you also use social media, such as eHarmony, match or other dating sites. Social media has made it very easy, and plays a big role in our lives every day, but does it affect your personal relationships? How did the world communicate before cell phones, internet, and e-mail? We used a land line to call people if we wanted to talk. We used the postal services and sent thing though the mail. If something was really important we faxed documents. If you wanted to meet new people you went out and socialized. Many decades of people communicated and had relationships without social media. Before social media if you wanted a job you went out and went job hunting. Now if you want a job you just pick up the computer and look at sites online. You fill out applications on line and wait for the phone calls. The new age of social media has made socializing very easy, but do you really know who is on the other end of the message you just sent? ...Dark Posts on Facebook For this article, “Dark Posts on Facebook”, I found that the amount of self- disclosure was the main theme for the article. Do people use Facebook and other social media as an outlet to express their emotions? Are these expressed emotions maybe a sign of depression or low self- esteem? I believe that the answer is yes, I do think that some people use social media as a place where they can talk about their day and problems. Often on Facebook and Twitter I see friends and peers post a status about their bad day at work, going to the gym because they don’t like their body and their failing grades. So I definitely see adolescents and young adults use social media as a way to reach out for help even if they are not seeking it intentionally. When I see these “dark” posts made by my friends and peers I try to be understanding of their situation and call them to hang out to talk and get their mind off things or just simply text them ‘how are you doing’. But on occasion there are times where I see a post that seems troubling. In the article it says how only ten percent of people who show signs of depression on social media seek help and counseling. Also, how now they have a link for Facebook where if you sense someone needs help you can send a link to that person for a suicide hotline. I wish that I had known about that because of the posts that I do see on social media where I think ‘I hope this person has help instead of dealing with those emotions by himself...

...Ashlyn Oswalt Facebook Me Happy February 28, 2012 1 Ashlyn Oswalt Tweeting and friending used to conjure up images of birds and human contact. Tumbling meant rolling down a sloped hill and “Myspace” referred to the personal area one called his own. Today, all these words revert back to one image: humans spending unlimited amounts of time in front of a computer screen, “socializing.” The generations that precede the current are always looking for an outside force to blame for the corruption of youth, and today social media takes the cake. This corruption has been the increasing cause of clinical illnesses, behavioral changes, and suicide. The invention of the internet brought many exciting avenues to investigate. World Wide Web users quickly realized that they could easily make contact with people outside their immediate area without ever leaving their homes or picking up a phone. Connecting with family overseas or making cyberfriends hailing from exotic hometowns quickly grew to be the norm and letters and phone calls quickly became obsolete. The first major social networking site, Myspace, was geared towards teenagers and emerging musical artists. The site took off running, with over 100 million users in three years. Myspace encouraged users to share photos, feelings, thoughts, and build an arsenal of friends. Although Myspace use has since declined, it has sparked similar versions such as Facebook and Twitter. According to the Facebook website, the site is 800...

...together and have fun. But in last Eid I was surprised at something. Nomita was talking with me but I can sense that she was not with me. She was taking with me and at a time she was typing in her mobile. Suddenly she asked me what status she will post in facebook wall. All of her talking was facebook related and I was being bored and moreover our taking was interrupted by her texting. I understood that she wanted to use facebook rather enjoying my company. So I told her to finish her job and join me. Long time passed but she did not come and I was shocked because it never happened before and what I saw make me astonished that she is completely absorbed in facebook. I guess she has a relation in facebook and it really seems to me ridiculous to wind up with a relation just seeing a profile. One may give wrong information about oneself to attract others. I became concerned if she has a relation and concern if she does something wrong. It is easy to done something wrong because people of this age are easily driven by their whim and curiosity. I discussed it with her .She said nothing and smiled. I also see the same scenario in my friend circle. When my friends are altogether passing time I observe that someone is using facebook, someone is listening music and some are playing game in mobile. I observe they are behaving like unsocial in a social communicating place. Another striking matter is about my brother, who is a student of standard five , is a very inattentive not only in his...

...Facebook: A Dangerous tool for Students We have been living in the era of convenience and Facebook has been playing an important role in every part of our lives. Many students use Facebook as a tool to communicate and exchange information with friends. However, I totally disagree with the idea that students need to use Facebook because of three reasons. One of the reasons that Facebook is unnecessary is that it wastes my time and money. When I want to use it, I have to top up and apply for the internet package. It totally wastes my money because I have to spend almost seven hundred baht per month for using it. Moreover, using Facebook takes up my worth time typing and waiting for people’s replying. Especially when the internet is terrible, I have to wait for downloading. It makes me miss several important things in life. Another reason that Facebook is useless is that it makes me an unsociable person. A year ago, I used to be addicted to using Facebook. I had thousand of friends on that and when my friends texted me, I dropped everything and replied them at once. I could spend my whole day sitting and lying in my bed for checking, posting, and chatting on Facebook. Furthermore, I even chatted while having meal with people and did not want to talk to people around me because I was busy with putting my head on my phone. Until I found that I had lost friends, I stopped that bad habit. The last reason that Facebook is harmful is that it makes me do worse in school. When I was...

...of social networking such as Facebook to connect with friends or to update what they are currently doing. For example with Facebook, its main function is to keep people connected and intertwined to ensure that friends are able to know what each other are doing. And to do this they either make a status update, post a picture or a video, and even making new friends with someone thousands of miles away. But what happens when adults such as you and I start to use this kind of technology in a different way, instead to perhaps say something positive or negative about our place of employment? What if I were to say something bad about my boss or a co-worker, is the company obligated to discipline even though I had made this comment outside of work technically off the clock? The bigger question is if I do get disciplined, does the company have the right to do so? This is something that companies have to deal with on a regular basis now, and has become a very big problem for not only the companies but for too it’s employees. There has been a plethora of cases in which an employee had posted something negative about either a co-worker or the company and that employee had faced disciplinary consequences in doing so. Now not all of the cases had the same outcome but this is defiantly a current issue worth discussing particularly because there has been many different ways companies have dealt with this issue. Before examining the privacy issues of Facebook, it is important to define and...

...Introduction In this era of technology and information explosion, social media has become a part of our lives, almost everyone have their own Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and Blogs account. Nowadays social media is becoming increasingly popular; a survey (SilkRoad Technologies, 2012) shows 75% of employees logged social media while at work at least once a day, with 60% accessing multiple times. The report also pointed out that most of companies have not develop clear guidelines and policy for using social media in workplace, only less than 10 % offering social media training to their staffs. The workplace should not prohibit the use of social media sites? Some people said it should be but some ones said should not. Each has their own justifications, it is benevolent see benevolence and the wise see wisdom. Whether employers permit or not, to develop a set of the company’s social media policy is a must. Although, Singapore Airlines (SIA) have guidelines stating that all employees must not posted confidential business information or tweeted about a colleague, but the rule is usually not strongly enforced. Social media is not easy to manage in the workplace, based on historical experience cyber bullying, harassment, discrimination and victimization are constantly recurring in between colleagues, similar incidents have also occurred in the Singapore Airlines (SIA). Therefore, in order to design an effective social media policy of the organization, first must consider and resolve a...
