Fym Movie Reaction Paper

...4:00pm - 5:00pm) October 30, 2015 Reaction Paper: Felix Y. Manalo Directed by Joel Lamangan under Viva Films, the epic-historical-biographical film “Felix Manalo” broke two Guiness World Record (Largest Attendance for Film Screening and largest Attendance for Film Premiere) on its international premiere night held last October 5, 2015 at Philippine Arena, Ciudad de Victoria, Bocaue, Bulacan. The said film was also a major production of the church, Iglesia ni Cristo and with its whole support, the movie became more than just a successful one; it was a mega-blockbuster hit. Originally, it was a 6-hour film, but during its premiere, only the cut-short 3-hour version was screened. The film is a historical drama portraying the life of Bro. Felix Ysagun Manalo, the first executive minister of the Iglesia ni Cristo and regarded as the messenger of God in these last days. The film was shot in a sepia-like filter which gave me the impression of it being shot in an era where colored pictures have yet to exist. The soundtrack and music video of the film entitled “Ang Sugo ng Diyos sa mga Huling Araw” was released on October 4, 2015 at the Philippine Arena. It was performed by Sarah Geronimo, composed by Joan and Ryan Solitario and arranged by Louie Ocampo. It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up as it played and it also moved me like how a worship service hymn would. It revolves on how Bro. Felix Manalo survives all the struggles, and the problems he faced just...

Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel

...Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel was born on November 14, 1805, in Hamburg, Germany. Her parents were rather wealthy and education was held very highly in their household. Both Fanny and her three younger siblings were thought Latin, Greek, French, German, geometry, geography, literature, arithmetic and drawing. Fanny also studied piano, first with her mother, then with music teachers in Berlin and Pairs. She was an exceptionally talented pianist, considered even better than her more famous brother, Felix. Her first performance was at one of her family’s Sunday concerts, a tradition started by her grandmother years ago. Poets, writers, musicians and family friends usually attended and they were all astonished when the twelve-year-old Fanny played twenty-four preludes from Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier by heart. At the age of 14 she had begun composing her own works. Fanny composed mainly vocal solos, keyboard pieces, choral works and chamber music. Although she did create many oratorios and cantatas as well as a few quartets, they were not considered suitable for a woman at the time. Her only recorded public performance was in 1838, when she performed Felix's First Piano Concerto for a charity event. She married Wilhelm Hansel in 1820 and they had a son named Sebastian. Continuing the tradition of the Sunday concerts throughout her life, Fanny made them famous for their quality and originality. These Sonntagsmusiken, as they were known, gave her the freedom...

Grigori Rasputin

...Grigori Efimovich Rasputin He was known as a mystic healer, a prophet and visionary, as well as for his hypnotic light eyes; but what he was most famous for was the tremendous power he had over the Russian imperial family. He became a very important part of the Tsar’s life, Nicholas II and particularly his wife the Tsarina, Alexandra. Grigori Efimovich Rasputin was born in Pokrovskoe, a village in Siberia, on January 10, 1869 although the exact date of birth is still in question as there are little supporting documents. At the time he was nothing more than a peasant who had only acquired minimal elementary school education. He first exhibited his supernatural and psychic abilities at a young age when he was able to heal a horse in his village that had fallen ill simply through touch. In another instance he was able to identify the thief in the village when a horse was stolen. When Rasputin transitioned into his early adulthood he fled to a monastery after accusations of being a thief. It was at this monastery where the doors were opened to a new ritualized form of religion. He met a holy man named Makari who was famous for being a wonderer and had also advised the Tsar, Nicholas II and Tsarina Alexandra. This is when Rasputin understood his mission in life- he had to devote himself completely to God and through his wonderings he gained his reputation as a holy man who had divine, supernatural powers. At the time it was believed by Russian people that holy men had access to...

In an interview on dzMM, UNA spokesman Mon Ilagan said Binay will attend President Benigno Aquino III's final SONA on Monday, and use it as basis for his own address to the Filipino people. "Siya ay gagawa po ng hindi po anti-SONA. Ang tawag namin 'True State of the Nation [Address],'" said Ilagan. "Dangan nga lamang hindi pa niya ma-determine kung kailan niya gagawin ang True State of the Nation." Ilagan said the Vice President, in his own version of the SONA, will voice out the grievances of the poor. "Kung ano ang nararamdaman ng maraming naghihirap, nagugutom na Pilipino, yun ang kanyang ire-report, yun ang kanyang babanggitin, but not necessarily para kontrahin. Kaya gusto niya munang mapakinggan muna kung anong sasabihin ng Pangulong Aquino sa kanyang SONA sa darating na Lunes," he said. Binay, who has been going around the country, will also include in his speech the supposed real problems that the people are facing. Intro to Ethics

...Journal – Felix Adler: (August 13, 1851–April 24, 1933) was a Jewish rationalist intellectual who founded the Society for Ethical Culture in New York City. “To care for anyone else enough to make their problems one's own, is ever the beginning of one's real ethical development.” I know exactly how this feels. I have done this myself with my own family. In 2010, my mother was leaving work and fell in the parking lot on ice and hurt her back. We had to take her to the hospital. She was in the hospital for a week because she had an allergic reaction to some of the medicine they gave her. She was then released and went back to work. When she arrived at work, her boss notified her that he no longer needed her and fired her. Then I helped my mother contact a lawyer to go after him for firing her while hurt at work (workers compensation). We are still working on this today waiting for a court date. After she lost her job she became very depressed and was falling behind on bills, and she stopped eating, etc. I took all the extra money I had and paid her bills for her to get back on her feet. I helped her find a new job, until she could find something better. I was there for moral support for her and made it a daily thing to visit her to cheer her up and make sure she was eating. This is hard to do when you have a life of your own, but I felt I had to because I loved her and I did not want to see her lose her house and car. I did not want to see her in so much pain because it hurt...

Tchula, Ms

...In 1982, millions of blacks living in the rural counties an small towns of the “New South” still dealt with the terrors of Jim Crow and racial exploitation which sparked the civil rights movement in the 1950s. It was more vivid in Mississippi. In 1949, black farmers owned 80,842 commercial cotton-producing farms in Mississippi black belt region, about 66 percent of all cotton farms in the state. During the 1950s and 1960s, corporations which went into agricultural production aggressively pushed thousands of these small rural farmers out of business. By 1964, the number of black owned cotton farms declined to 21,939 statewide. The figure dropped to only 1000 five years later.[1] Black farmers had extreme difficulty obtaining capital. Many insurance companies, which financed the bulk of farm loans, require loans to be at least $100,000. While commercial banks lend lesser amounts, they often require payment within five years, a term too short for a black landowner. Federal land back tended to require amounts of collateral that are too great for blacks to qualify. The federal government did little to reverse the decline in black farming. The general economic decline for most Mississippi blacks since the 1960s has been accompanied by the resurrection of white racist terrorism and political violence. The tortured body of one unidentified black man was found floating down the river in Cleveland, MS. The man’s sex organs had been hacked off and the coroner later reported...

He first attended college in Kentucky but later transferred to Germany when his father had to relocate. He went on to study at Harvard Law School and graduated in 1875 as valedictorian at the age of 20. Brandeis started practicing law in St. Louis, Missouri and after a short time, he moved back to Boston to start a law firm with former Harvard classmate, Samuel Warren. The firm of “Warren and Brandeis” spent much of their time arguing against monopolies and large corporations and advocating for free speech. Together Brandeis and Warren published a famous article in The Harvard Law Review, “The Right to Privacy.” This article argued that private citizens should have the right to be left alone and the press should not be permitted to publish their photos or the details of their lives without...

I am interested in booking accommodations for a group of 85 or possibly more people for either December 15 through 19 or January 12 through 16. To accommodate everybody accordingly we will need approximately 50 rooms so that all the company employees feel comfortable. Would your hotel be able to accommodate such a large group? If so, there are a couple of other questions on mind that I have about planning a stay at your resort: * Is there a discount for a group rate? * Does the resort offer shuttle services in transporting the group from the airport to the resort? * Does the Four Seasons have two conference rooms that could fit at least 25 people? * What technology is available for your guests to use in the conference rooms? * What entertainment is available on cite? * Are there any tours offered so that we could get to know around the Jackson Hole Valley? * Could we be able to host a banquet dinner for 85 people? The Four Seasons Resorts are known worldwide to be very luxurious and prestigious. Chopin And Felix Mendelssohn Analysis

...The shift from the Classical to the Romantic era signified a new importance on relations within the octave other than the tonic-dominant relation. Often, Romantic composers, in this case, Frederic Chopin and Felix Mendelssohn, use symmetrical divisions of the octave as a platform from which they can launch wandering or very pointed progressions, depending on the direction and magnitude of the potential harmonic energy. Whether it is a continuous circle of minor thirds or a form of axial melody that teeters much like a seesaw, these balanced relationships of pitches have a destabilizing effect on the tonic as it places a more equal weight on other intervals in the key. Not only can symmetry be found on the local levels of melody and harmonic...

Felix Houphouet Boigny: The President In The United States

...As Henry Alfred Kissinger said: “it is a shame that ninety percent of politicians give a bad reputation of the ten percent remaining”. I come from a country in west Africa called Ivory Coast where we’ve never seen these ten percent remaining. Indeed, we have always been in and out of coup d’état ever since our first president Felix Houphouet Boigny died during his term of office. Unfortunately, everybody wants to be president, not for good reasons like helping the population or develop the country, but for the power and the wealth that come with this position. The worst thing is that they don’t really seem to care about the people who suffers in the middle of their caprice. Being young and incapable of voting yet, I felt inutile while people...

On Fleek Doreen St. Felix Analysis

...1. The claim of the article is on how black teens across America or just about anywhere, is underrated and doesn’t profit from any of the innovative ideas they have, yet big industries and companies do. The author, Doreen St. Felix, states that the phrase “on fleek” was originated by the young lady Kayla Newman, who had a vine account to record herself commenting on the minutia and mundanity of high school life. Corporate entities like IHOP and its rivals employ the phrase in an effort to feign cultural relevance, whereas Newman gets no compensation for her own word. 2. I agree with the author. Just as someone took up the time to make music, build an industry or business, these young black teens deserve to receive credit where credit is due. Most of these big businesses promote these teens’ ideas into their own covering the fact that they wouldn’t have thought of it unlike the young individuals who took out the time to think of these funny challenges, dances, words/ phrases, and many more. 3....
