When discussing the issues behind female oppression, the conversation often turns into the “blame game.” As expected, the culprit most radical feminists point their fingers at is not one group or one person in particular; rather, they blame it their situation on men as a whole. Furthermore, many radical feminists believe men brought the modern backlash against them on themselves. Any feminists claim there wouldn’t be a need for harsh words and actions against men if they weren’t so whiny and elitist. In her article for Jezebel.com, Lindy West presents a laundry list of reasons why “misandry” -- a concept she thinks doesn’t exist -- came about due to the words and actions of men themselves. She proffers an abundance of valid points and utilizes…show more content… to female ones -- and feminism isn’t about striving for individual fairness. However, some of the language she uses is frankly insulting, she manages to contradict her own points, and utilizes faulty logic. When she correlates false accusations of rape to being a part of the patriarchy, she presents no logical tie between the two. Feminists like West and many others do not complete logical arguments with data for support; rather, they throw around wild accusations with no support to back it up and in the mean time, make themselves look more misandrist and immature. Another example: in Philadelphia Magazine in November 2014, Joel Mathis -- a man! -- wrote the article titled “Men Are (Still) Pigs” in which he outlined how in light of recent events, such as Ray Rice beating his girlfriend and the Harrisburg email scandal, our culture must acknowledge why feminism is necessary and why men still need to be taught a couple lessons (Mathis). Like West, he offers many valid points and concrete examples, but through broad generalizations and fallacious logic, he still manages to come across bitter and
