Acknowledgements The successful completion of this study would not have been possible without the assistance and cooperation of a number of people consequently,I would like to thank the residents of frazer’s content for there massive support and valuable time spent on answering my questionnaires given. Introduction frazer’s content is a big community.it is located in the county of Middlesex,Jamaica and is about 10km or more from the heart of Spanish town.spanish town police is responsible for the illegal drug abuse in this community which consists of approximately 500 household

I have been a resident of frazer’s content for the past 10years,during this time I have observed a number of weakness in the community by illegal drugs in the area like marijuana.foremost there smoking is not aone day thing they smoke and drink on a regular basis.thereis no special time for them while it’s a drug that is abusing them and they don’t know and the way theyre addicted they cant stop.you see some as early 6:30 drinking and smoking.there is also the growth of an official smoking which causes death it gives u cancer and eats out your brain.i have further observed that when u reason with them it get worst and you just watch the cocaine turn them insane they go crazy on residents in the district and the law cant do nothing when it gets out of hand they also seem to smoke more tan how they eat I have therefore decided to conduct a survey to investigate about these things.

Statement of problem How efficient is the drug abuse in frazer’s content going on?

Method of investigation In order to collect data from survey I have decided to use printed questionnaires.the questionnaireas a tool for collecting data has a number of advantages i. It requires little time to be completed. ii. It can be done at the convenience of the person. iii. It guarantees confidentiality since respondents are not required to attach there names.

Instrument used to collect data Dear residents, This is a survey am carrying out in frazer’s content to determine the realibility and effecienty of drug abuse by the local government authority.this study is being conducted as an assignment for a social studies course am pursuing at present. You are advise to answer the folling questions honestly and truthfully.since you do not have to write your names anywhere no one will ever know who answer in a particular way.remember this is not a test just put a tick in one of the box. Yes □ No □ don’t know □ Procedures used to collect data As stated earlier,frazer’s content has approximately 500 households.it was calculated that a sample 20% was necessary in order to ensure accurate conclusions on the drug abuse in the area.{20% of 500 =4}. A total of 20 questionnaires were prepared for distrubtion to the residents.I was expected that atleast 4 of these will be returned.I therefore decided to choose the householdsby a process of random selection which will cater for all requirements mentioned above.The colour of all houses in the community were written on each on slip of paper.Each slip was folded and place into a bag.a total of 20 slips were then supplied with questionnaires.the twenty households thus selected were then supplied with questionnaires.

Presentation and explantation of data A total of twenty questionnaires were distributed to the residents out of which 30 were returned.of these,20% were females.

Fig1:lengths of residence respondents. Figure 1 shows how many respondents were residing in frazer’s content.it can be seen that 60% were living in the area for over ten years 10% between20% and 50% and a lot more years.

Interpretation of data There was anonymous agreement by the residents of frazer’s content district that the smokers and abusers do it everyday.this left residents with a number of alternatives to quit drugs.the use of non talk and talkers was a popular choice of both residents and police.this preferred choice ,however,createdanother problem against our youths.70% of the residents,and inmost instances 60%drug abusers didn’t have anyone to teach them right from wrong while most have issues.the fact they came out from 6:00am-12:00pm they do not have place for themselves. Since in most case police officers did not past through,it was logical to assume that the officers are the same they don’t care about there ancestors.this was supported by 100% of the residents who claimed that police officers had never talk to them.

Findings The survey has revealed a number of deficiencies with respect to drug addiction and abusers in frazer’s content.these include: * Drugs happening all the days of the week.this was indicate by 100% of the residents.this has force residents to talk about the disadvantages in the area. * Drug abusers so brave they sometimes get attacked by police as claimed 45%. * Both community members and police officers should go together to help stop drug abuse100%. Recommendations The importance of an efficient quitting and police search team stay in the area cannot be overestimated.in order to maintain a healthy enviroment at frazer’s content district officers and doctors have to play there parts to alleviate many of the problems experienced by the community. One of the most important recommendations is for the officers go there on a daily basis to meetings.Futhermore the officers should be able to go there the time they start each day and stop.for this to work out residents should help too. Members of the community can further play an important part by looking out for them to make sure they are quitting. The local government authority must be notified to embark on a programmed of educating these youths to be employees later so they will see the importance to stop do drugs. There is a need to remind officers that talking to youths falls under specification. In order to solve this problem I would do the following: * Set example by showing them what it’s like to not do drugs. * invite quitters * Write letters to the editor of the newspapers concerning this issue; introducing the laws. * Invite members of the science academy
