I learned a lot about many different things during my field experience, including some things that I will use and some things that I will not use in my future classroom. One of the most important things that I learned from my field experience is to incorporate …show more content…

I liked that the students were moving around the room doing the different questions, instead of just sitting at a desk. I just think that she could have created a more fun movement activity, then just having the students walking around the room. If it were my class, then I would have had them do a special movement, when rotating to a different questions station, or I would have created a different movement activity where the students didn’t even have to answer the questions. I think there are many different, fun movement activities that can be used in the classroom to show mastery of a standard beside answering lengthy questions all the time. I would like to use more music, art, and movement activities over boring worksheets because the students learn better from fun activities than from doing worksheets all the

Factors Affecting Bsmt Students Study Habit

...1 WHAT IS A FIELD STUDY? The field study is an integral part of the HDSR Program, and is the basis for much of the upper level course work required by our majors. The field study allows students to: • gain experience in integrating the theoretical perspectives learned in the classroom with experiences gained in the field; • achieve insight into the workings of an organization; • become more conscious of the relationship of social roles, institutional dynamics, and larger cultural systems. When students return to campus, Field Study Seminar assists students in analyzing and interpreting their experiences, culminating in a major academic paper. An HDSR field study differs from a conventional internship or practicum in important ways. The main difference lies in the purpose. The primary purpose of a conventional internship or practicum is for the student to perform a job and learn skills that will be useful in a future career. In contrast, the HDSR Field Study is an ethnographic research project. Its main purpose is for the student to hone his or her analytical skills and gain insight into the dynamics of the organization in larger societal context. That is not to say that the job, in and of itself, is not important. HDSR students are expected to work diligently, and make every effort to contribute to the organization in positive ways, along with the added dimension of observing and analyzing the organization. An HDSR field study might be thought of as a conventional internship/practicum...

...education. This model focuses on the best way for a student to learn and retain new information based on sensory modality. (Fleming, 2011) When a student knows his/her learning style preferences, he/she is able to learn more effectively and store and recall the information being taught. “The last group in the four part typology is the group who like to experience their learning by using all their senses, including touch, hearing, smell, taste and sight. This group is regularly described in the literature as kinesthetic (K). They want concrete, multi-sensory experiences in their learning. Although learning by doing matches their needs they can easily learn conceptual and abstract material provided it arrives with suitable analogies, real life examples, or metaphors. They learn theory through its application.” (Fleming, 1995) Upon taking this test, I realized that I have a strong kinesthetic preference for learning. To take in the information I prefer to uses all my senses – sight, touch, taste, smell, and hearing. (Fleming, 2011) People with a kinesthetic preference for learning seem to do best with laboratories, field trips, field tours, and examples of principles, lecturers who give real-life examples, hands-on approaches, trial and error, exhibits, samples, photographs, and many other forms of learning.
