...CASE 7 CHICK-FIL-A: BIRD OF A DIFFERENT FEATHER STRATEGY MANAGEMENT COMPETIVENESS AND GLOBALIZATION, CONCEPT AND CASES BY 02/23/2016 Executive Summary. This case analysis evaluates Chick-fil-A. It is designed to show the Strength, weakness, opportunities and threat. It delineates how the founding principles have guided the company over the years, and how it has responded slowly to change over the years. CFA has grown to be a force to reckon with in the industry with strength in customer experience and sandwich trademark. However, the emerging markets, social changes, economic issues and intense rivalry will continue to pose threat to this strong cultured company. At the end of the case analysis, we would have been able to devise possible solutions for the present and future times. Background. The story of Chick-fil-A will be incomplete without the man who turned a dwarf house into a giant brand. Samuel Truett Cathy was born in 1921 into a religious family and in fact was named to honor a Baptist evangelist. These factors would plan a significant role in Cathy’s life. At an early stage, Cathy developed entrepreneurial skills; he delivered papers and sold Coca cola and helped with the meals. And at the age of 25, he and his brother opened their first restaurant- Dwarf House. Cathy soon realized he could prepare chicken faster and insert between two buns. He went ahead to trademark the name Chick-fil-A borrowed from the then steak fillets. Cathy explored expansion...

...not including Nike inc. is trying to make rushes to be number one, two, and three. Another rush the industry is making, is the rush for the deadline of sports shoes. In other words coming up with shoes for the sports that are in season. The difficulties the shoe industry has are making shoes that all people wear such as setting a style for both inner city people and suburb people. Another difficulty the shoe industry has is getting its stock value to rise again because all but Nike and Fila's stock has dropped. This is what the shoe industry is all about and the difficulties, problems, and advances it has. There are four major companies in the shoe industry. The dominant industry is Nike inc.. Then going down the line is Reebok, Fila, and Adidas. Nike being the superpower has been in front of all the other industries for many years. Right now Reebok is the closest company to Nike and is $2,459 behind in value in MIL. Nike's earnings in the last quarter leaped 24% which has pleased Wall Street investors. With such earnings Nike announced a 2-to-1 stock split, its second in many years. Nike and Reebok are far ahead than the other companies because there factories are already in the far east, and other companies are just starting to build them. With Nike's earnings so high it'll be very hard for any of the...

...For unit 7, I decided to use the 2012 Chick-Fila PR disaster as my subject for this assignment. Chick Fila by definition have been a very conservative family business and follow a very biblical definition. Dan Cathy, the COO of Chick Fila sparked massive outrage on their views regarding gay marriage and this questioned their sales, products and services they provide to the fast food industry. From Jeff Swartz, Dan Cathy could have utilized some diplomacy. Rather than leaving the issue to government and politics, Dan Cathy when asked about his views, he said “guilty as charged” which made the situation worse. Just as Jeff Swarz was open to the idea of change and he personally responded to each one of his angry protestors, Chick Fila could have easily practiced good PR considering their position in the fast food industry. In the aftermath, many government officials and public got involved which included protestors and supporters, which hampered but also at the same time grew sales of Chick Fila. Unlike Swartz’s issue, which included supply chain and international suppliers of leather, Chick Fila didn’t have to deal with the issue of operations. There wasn’t strong lobbying for or against Chick Fila’s issue. However, at the same time the Supreme Court of the U.S struck down the Defense of Marriage Act. Afterwards, Dan Cathy tweeted: "Sad day for our nation; founding fathers would be ashamed of our gen. to abandon wisdom of the ages re: cornerstone of strong societies." This shows...

...AMITY INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SCHOOL AMITY UNIVERSITY UTTAR PRADESH BRAND JOURNAL SUBMITTED TO- PROF. KOKIL JAIN SUBMITTED BY- ANUJ DIWAKAR ENROLLMENT NO- A1802011097 SECTION-C * Will Cinthol's new ad campaign be able to capture youth's attention? If Karen Lunel bathing under a waterfall gave Liril a shot in the arm, Vinod Khanna running on the seashore did the same for Cinthol. After Khanna, the other heartthrobs who lent their face (and other body parts too) to Cintol were Imran Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan. However, what Lunel did for Liril, Cinthol could not quite duplicate with all the hunks put together — perhaps because shopping trips in large parts of India are still a male domain. But times have changed and so has Cinthol. The new advertising campaign for the brand, conceived by Creativeland Asia (CLA) is devoid of any wellknown face but has a bunch of young people bathing in several unlikely, improbable parts of the world. There's a good reason for that. "Our consumer research showed shifts in lifestyle and that every individual wants to live life to the fullest. Personal grooming plays a very important role in a person's life, and we found a good opportunity there," explains Sunil Kataria, EVP - marketing & sales, Godrej Consumer Products LtdBSE -1.12 % (GCPL), which owns Cinthol. Launched in 1952, Cinthol was...

...Religious Diversification Today Religious diversification in the workplace is an issue employers will always face. Management of this diversity is necessary so that employees can reach their full potential, maximize productivity, and create a positive work environment by which everybody is accommodated. By understanding the positives and negatives of having religion and spirituality in the workplace, it is clear that there are advantages and disadvantages. Positive aspects of integrating religion or spirituality into the workplace may include improved worker performance and better relationships between management and employees. There are disadvantages as well, such as discrimination, and resistance to religious culture, which can reduce productivity and may lead to legal issues. Law and Regulation The most common way a company integrates religious views into their work place would depend if the company were public or privately held. For example, if the CEO of a private organization was Christian there might be rules for allowing extra prayer time at the work. Under federal law, regarding religious expression in private work areas, “Employees should be permitted to engage in private religious expression in personal work areas not regularly open to the public”(Earp, 2008). Publicly held organizations must allow for prayer during the day and if the other employees are atheist or another religion they must be respectful. As long as work is being completed during work hours all...
