Meaning of Wealth
All people has different opinions about the meaning of Wealth is a very broad word. Many people feel that the amount of money someone has determines if they are wealthy; where as, many people feel what one has accumulated throughout the years, and how much success they have achieved in their life determines it. Is money and having great amounts of it the only factor in being wealthy, or is it having achieved what one has wanted and having possessions to show for his or her success. This topic will most likely be in debate forever. Some of the most prolific thinkers of our time have debated on the subject of wealth.

Financial Status of Mexico
The Mexican economy experienced a continuous up and down over the last years. Interestingly, there exists a striking relationship between the economical situation and the change of the presidency. Every six years, with a new president being elected, but all the presidents of Mexico are selfish and not prepare for that job. This of course brought along enormous consequences for the society and the economy. One example of a bad president is the handover of governmental power from Carlos Salinas to Ernesto Zedillo in 1994. But all these problems can be solved if we show some interest to all these things so we can change all the bad thing about our government and be better in the financial status.

Film Review

...Review of the film The film, which really starts a few years before 1492 and closures a few years after the fact, begins off with a great deal of grave and traditionally successful scene-setting as Columbus' child and biographer, Fernando, reviews his father, the visionary of inconceivable dreams. The myth of Columbus-as-legend propagated in 1492: Conquest of Paradise just on the grounds that I didn't generally think about chronicled correctness. But rather I focused around the moderate moving plot line or the motion picture's sensational enhancements. With such a lazy sympathy toward history, it is not hard to see how 1492: Conquest of Paradise's over-rearrangements of history went unnoticed. It is this present exposition's objective to analyze how the film depicts the Tainos and Columbus' connection to one another, and hope to measure up these depictions to different authentic records to perceive how the motion picture sustains the homogeneous "history of civilization" by keeping Columbus free from any accuse that Spain's colonization involved. The Columbus-as-legend myth remains to a great extent in place in spite of the motion picture's endeavor to make him a more mind boggling character. Examples of historical accuracy "I want to travel all over the seas," the father tells the young Fernando as they remained in attractive profile looking at the western skyline. "I want to get behind the weather."Give or take 45 minutes and a few throne-room scenes later, Columbus sets...

...United 93 Review – Unorthodox Award Paul Greengrass’ raucous portrayal of film United 93 demonstrates and explores the unexpected tragedy of the 9/11 only 5 years ago, through the impotence of the characters, pace and overall cinematography. Greengrass’ use of characterisation conveyed the clear sense of powerlessness over the tragedy, illustrating the enmity between eastern and western beliefs and cultures revealing a dominant divide between cultures and religion which may not have been considered previously by some viewers. Meanwhile, the use of little to no known bought the film home as it enforced the realness of the events that took place in the movie and made the audience look into not only the true meaning of the film but look deeply at themselves, giving them a reality check about the society we live in today; not just the dilly dallying of the ‘to see’ actors of that month. However, although many may applaud Greengrass’ portrayal of the characters, (many of whom were based on people who were really effected in the 9/11), the film has also been ‘criticized for its portrayal of German passenger Christian Adams,’ who was the only passenger the plane ‘demonstrated with counselling appeasement.’ All in all, we must ask ourselves, did we go to watch it to get a good laugh out of it or get an insight into our increasingly cracking society? Likewise, the cinematography in all aspects can be applauded by the audience as Greengrass’ sheer impudence demonstrated...

...Film Review Barbara Rushing ARTS/100 December 10, 2012 Brenda Durden Do the Right Thing was produced and directed in 1989 by Spike Lee (The IUPUI Arts and Humanities Institute, 2012). Spike Lee is known for creating controversy with his movies. Lee was a pioneer of capturing and bringing attention to societal issues. Lee’s primary focus for many of his movies is to address racial stigmas, stereotypes, and issues between races. Consequently, Do the Right Thing is debatable for its portrayal of the racial tensions in Brooklyn, New York (Smith, Turner Classic Movies Film Articles, 2012). The major themes Lee tries to convey through this film are the day-to-day lifestyles of people in Brooklyn, a community struggling without leadership, and the ethnic tensions within the community. Lee effectively relays these themes to the audience through realism by depicting the period, showing the lack of leadership and community togetherness through a host of scenarios, which leads to the destruction of the neighborhood pizza shop that had been a part of community for technically three decades. Lee also mastered the art of demonstrating the lifestyles and attitudes of the community through music specific the era and the ethnic upbringing, by using prompts that give the illusion of how hot the temperatures were, which lends itself to the mounting tension among racial divide. An overview of the film or performance Do the Right Thing is a movie that takes place...

...break the spell, but he falls in love with the wrong girl, and so she killed herself. In this movie every piece of music intensifies each of the 27 scenes, without the music the movie is not perceived the same way. Such as every time the daughter, Nina is in interaction with her mother there is the use of leitmotif, where the same music is played although it faster and slower at different times. And since she is in some sort of conflict with her mother throughout each of the scenes they are both present in the music is more of an intense beat that reflects the conflict(s) between the two. There are many people who took part in making this movie a success and a big part of that was the workers behind the music, such as: Clint Mansell – film score composer Brian Emrich and Craig Henighan – sound designers Nancy Allen – music editor Jim Black and Gabe Hilfer – music supervisors All of the music of Black Swan was scored by Clint Mansell in which they all ended up containing “Swan Lake” written by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Mauilapolis Film Review

...Film Review I was asked to watch the film Mauilapolis and write a review on what I thought was important about it and also what I found to be shocking or interesting. I just wanted to start out by saying that watching this film made me a little emotional because I have very close friends who are Hispanic and they have told me of struggles that their family has had that are very similar to this. With that being said, the film is about Hispanic workers along the border of the United States and Mexico who work in sweatshops trying to make ends meet. One of the very first things that surprised me was in the intro of the film. Carmen said that she had worked in 9 assembly plants in her life. This really surprised me because it shows that not only do these poor people have to work in these terrible factories, they also are tossed around to different plants throughout their lives when one of them closes or gets shipped off to another country like what happened to the Sanyo plant. At the Sanyo plant, I was horrified to find out that one of the workers said that her nose used to bleed from the chemicals that she was inhaling and that she wasn’t allowed to drink water or go to the bathroom so she had kidney problems. I found this absolutely terrible that these factories could get away with treating their employees so badly. When Sanyo left, they took off without even giving their employees severance. One of the workers quoted this as saying, “they departed with their hands full and...

Book of Eli Film Review

...The Book of Eli Film Review In the film The Book of Eli, we are introduced to a character that is never exactly named who is walking west on a journey that God has led him to take. Throughout his journey, there are many scenes that relate to the Print Era and there are also very many scenes that are extremely significant in the film. In my paper, I will be discussing these scenes and I will also be discussing my interpretation on the film’s meaning, and my final reaction to the film. In the film, we are introduced to a post-apocalyptic society where things we find to be extremely common, and maybe even useless, are very rare and prized possessions. Books are one of these rare items and something that only the wealthy have, the wealthy being Carnegie. This relates to the beginning of the Print Era because in the beginning of the era, only the wealthy had books due to the fact that they took so long to produce. Books took so long to produce in the beginning of the Print Era because they had to be written by a scribe instead of just being printed which takes about an eighth of the time it takes to write out an entire book. Books in the town that Carnegie runs are very rare due to the fact that there was an apocalypse and majority of the books were destroyed. Carnegie is the only wealthy one and the only one in power, therefore he has majority of all of the books that he steals from others, even though he is only looking for a certain one. Throughout the film, there are very...

Moonstruck Film Review

... It sticks with it’s own genre as a contemporary American-Italian romantic comedy. I feel like Moonstruck offers a special element that separate itself from the other American romantic comedies. For instance, the movie tells the importance of family involvement in the character’s love affair. It could be something that degrades the level of the romance between Loretta and Ronny but instead, it makes the story even meaningful and warm. Furthermore, Loretta is being situated to be older (she looks older than Ronny, as seen on her grey hair) to suggest that she is more dominant and experienced in terms of dealing with life (her husband’s death should be something that could be further mourned by her, but she didn't show such attitude in the film). Whereas Ronny looks more fragile and more emotional than Loretta (he fancies Operas and complains a lot more than Loretta.) Despite being different from other romantic comedies where characters are being designed to be individualistic, Moonstruck not only tell the interference of the family in Loretta’s own affairs (her mother is conscious about her daughter’s affair with Ronny and so does her father, who caught her dating Ronny while being engaged to Johnny), but the story also tells the parent’s romantic life, where, as it being so realistic that as Loretta’s parents are getting old and their romance gradually fails. Moonstruck fits the criteria for genre to be watched on thanksgiving or Christmas. Furthermore, I find it interesting...

Film Review-Hunger Games

...The Hunger Games Review and Critique The Hunger Games is a fantasy adventure love story about a young girl from a poor district who volunteers to take her sister place to fight to the death in the 74th Annual Hunger Games in the country’s capitol city. “Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games.  A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which "Tributes" must fight with one another until one survivor remains.” (www.thehungergamesmovie.com) Prior to being a film, The Hunger Games was an award winning novel. The film was transformed from novel into a successful award winning fantasy film that captured the hearts of audiences world-wide through storytelling, acting, cinematography, editing and sound. The purpose of this review is to explore those elements and the film’s overall textual themes from a formalist approach. The film derives from the science fiction novel written in 2008 by Suzanne Collins. “The Hunger Games is directed by Gary Ross, with a screenplay by Gary Ross, Suzanne Collins and Billy Ray, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik.  Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel, the first in a trilogy published by Scholastic that has over 23.5 million copies in print in the United States...

Film Review

...Bianca Washington Professor Ruiz English 0990 4 March 2013 Just Married Just Married (2003) directed by Shawn Levy and written by Sam Harper is a romantic comedy. The two main characters are played by Ashton Kutcher and Brittany Murphy. These two individuals have such great chemistry that it shows throughout the whole movie. This film is rated pg13 and is appropriate for teens. The acting in the film was really good and believable. There was many parts in the movie that kept me laughing. Characterization is very important in the movie because the actors have to connect to each other and also to their own characters. Out of all the reviews that I have seen I have only found one positive review. I don’t know why because in my opinion the movie was not that bad to me. It was not my favorite but I enjoyed watching it. Many of the reviews talked about the movie having old jokes and that the characters didn’t have any chemistry. This movie is pretty old so the jokes are played out now but back then it was just immature humor that people liked to watch. The characters did shout at each other a lot in the movie but that is just there role in the movie. I feel that many of the reviewers were hoping for more inappropriate scenes and since this movie didn’t have enough of that they didn’t approve of it. John J. Puccio was one of the reviewers and he says “The movie is deceptively awful. It stars two attractive charming people who are not given a thing to work with in a script...

(It was originally titled „First Impression”. However, Austen found the title „Pride and Prejudice” more appropriate). This film is very well known also as the Jane Austen’s novel. During her lifetime, Austen's books brought her only a few positive reviews, they were published anonymously, and her work was admired only by a literary elite. Almost 200 years after it was written, Pride And Prejudice is now probably the most popular novel in English literature. The film is set in 18th century England, where marriage is extremely important for girls from less-than-wealthy families.  Bennet family, consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet and their five daughters (Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Catherine, Lydia) live in comparative financial independence as gentry on a working farm in rural England. When a wealthy young gentleman, Charles Bingley, occupies the nearby estate, Mrs. Bennet sees an opportunity for her daughters...

...Chau Tan Ping 14091747D APSS112- Introduction to Sociology- Film Review Name of Movie: A Late Quartet Teacher: Mr. LO Hung Kei, Kenneth After watching ‘’A Late Quartet’’, I found that there are lots of sociological theories and I think there are four theories that are best relate to this movie. First, it is about Emile Durkheim’s organic solidarity that holds member get together. Second, Talcott Parsons’ AGIL paradigm is the essential function for the society. Third, the social mobility is very important to the society to pass the good things to next generation. Fourth, the conflict of family ignores the existence of consensus. According to Durkheim (1893), in modern society, functional interdependency can hold members together. Durkheim named this relationship organic solidarity. In this film, Peter, Juliette, Robert and Daniel hold together to form Fugue Quartet because they hold the same belief that they love music and they want to perform to the audience and therefore, they form Fugue Quartet and perform over 25 years. They are organic solidarity because they think that they cannot perform without each other. According to Parsons (1951), the entire complex is governed by four functions and the four functions are usually referred to AGIL. In this film, Peter, who is the cellist in the Fugue Quartet, has been diagnosed of Parkinson’s disease. He cannot have the whole performance anymore and tell the other three members that he want to have his farewell show and...

Film Review

...------------------------------------------------- Review of John Q. John Q is an emotionally-packed movie that surrounds the unfortunate medical circumstances of John, played by Denzel Washington, and his son.  The purpose of the film was to raise the many issues surrounding poor health care in the United States, and even less empathy from hospital administration and insurance companies.  After John’s son collapses at a baseball game, the doctors diagnose him as having a heart that is too large for his body and declare that he must receive an immediate transplant to survive.  Quickly, the hospital administration informs John that his insurance plan does not cover such an operation and an immediate payment of $100,000 must be made just to get his son’s name on the donor list. The overall goal of the movie is to communicate the importance of health care reform and the problems surrounding the current health care system with employer-sponsored health insurance.  Within the first half hour of the movie, the villain becomes clear: “it’s all the fault of a healthcare system that caters to the rich and well-insured middle classes while denying quality care — or even life itself — to the uninsured and to poor people” (Lockard).  This villain becomes magnified through the events of the plot; whereby, the employer has changed John’s insurance plan without notification and the hospital administrators and doctors are unsympathetic towards the pleas of the family.  Through the use of...

Truffaut's 'Fahrenheit 451': Film Review

...Fahrenheit 451 Film Review Fahrenheit 451 was a well thought out and written book, but there are several reasons why the film, directed by Francois Truffaut could never compare to Ray Bradbury’s novel. I felt dissatisfactory towards the film compared to the potential it had. One reason why I feel this film wasn't the best because of the plot changes. Truffaut changed the plot to the extent of changing the meaning of some symbols in the novel. Next, the setting of the story may have been difficult to put in a motion picture; However, films made based on a novel can be altered to closely, not exactly mirror the novel. My last problem with the film is the actors and what characters they were. I feel there could have been better actors for certain...
