To provide event management services for the IAGR conference 2012 which will involve the setting up of the venue for the conference and planning the logistics and coordinating the technical aspects before actually executing the modalities of the proposed event.

Challenges: The challenges faced might be to ensure that the conference’s smooth running as many impromptu issue may be surface at the very last minute where resolving the issue at hand is crucial and hence the event management and its team must be very quick and clam to come up with solutions to settle the issue arise. For eg. Coordination between the outsourced technical support, where the sound system and IT support may be down. Thus, event management must have a backup system to make sure the system is up and running again and in the meanwhile of the fixing the system, the event management need to come up with a filler like a networking break or a tour around the casino so not to offend the attendee of the conference.

Recommendations:
It will be wise to select experienced event management company to be charge of the event since this is a major event and the contract binding the event company must be clearly stated where the will have to make compensation in the event that they failed to deliver the intended scope of work.

Competition: Companies like A.M. Innocept, Pico Art International Pte Ltd, TRICOM EVENTS PRIVATE LIMITED and ROXWELL PTE. LTD.

Unique selling point:
The event management companies that wish to stand out from the crowd must be able to brand themselves as having a number of branded clientele that had acquired them for the event management service and they should have a strong team of people who are good at solving technical difficulty when in time of needs.

Scope of work: Designing and conceptualise a fun and interactive computer - based exhibition that educate the public on communicable diseases.

Challenges: The challenge will be on how to generate awareness and how the information can be digest into something that is easy to absorb.

Recommendations: Other than just showcasing the facts, information and pictures of the various communicable diseases, we can also look into requesting survivors and their family members to do recordings to share their experience on what is the mistake, how it impacted them, what they have learn thru this journey and what they have done to prevent/protect their family.

Implementation Strategy 1. Define the target age group and information use.
2. Conduct a research to find out how much the public knows about communicable diseases and what are the myths they have heard on how to prevent communicable diseases.
3. Confirm a theme for the interactive exhibtion.
4. Look into the different ways of delivering the information.
5. The ways to conduct interview with the survivors and their family members.
Expected Deliveries
1. To create awareness of communicable diseases to the target audience.
2. To initiate support groups for people who needs help and for people who wish to help.
3. To gather feedback so as to improve on future similar computer - based interactive exhibition.

I agree to a large extent that it is important to define the target age group and the type of information that is being utilised to bring the message toward them. This is to enable to better enable the efficacy of bring the information toward them and the better ‘absorption’ of information. For example since this project deals largely with computers the potential tenders might wish to target participants who are of age 40 and below. This is as this group of participants might be more familiar with the usage and relevant of computers in their daily life and hence increases the efficacy in which the information is being transmitted. It is vital that a research is being carried out in order to determine how much information the target age group participants have about communicable diseases and their understanding and the myths about the diseases. This helps to improve on the relevance on the type of information that is being provided and instead of just creating a ‘typical exhibition’. However, while it is may be an excellent idea for survivors of such communicable diseases to share their thoughts and experiences about surviving the diseases. The potential tender should understand that this may be a relatively sensitive issue towards some of the participants. For instance, some of them might have lost their close family or friends towards the diseases and may not wish to participate in any of such programmes as it may ‘stir up unpleasant memories’ hence the organiser may face difficulties in this area in getting survivors of the disease to share their experience.

I do agree with you in promoting the ways to prevent communicable disease, but beside this, there is some other ways that you can promote this information to the public.
For example, in the Singapore now, all cigarettes packing does come with label telling public that smoking harm and what is the consequences of smoking and if possible avoid smoking. Therefore you can come out with a label printed on all condoms telling public about how to prevent communicable disease by using it when having sexual intercourse to prevent it.
Lastly, this information must be widely spread out to all youth who is in the early stage of puberty, to let them know that how important it is and what is the consequence of getting this disease.

Having informative labels that is displayed on condoms boxes is a rather interesting way to convey information about communicable diseases that spreads through sexual intercourse. However, it is highly debatable on the success or the ability for the relevant authorities to display such labels. For example major condom companies such as Durex may oppose the government attempt to display such information to the public as they may view it as damaging towards their underlying business. Hence although it can be argued that despite it being a rather innovative way to bring about such information it may remain rather challenging to impose it.
