3-1 Daily Sales Outstanding = 20 days;
Average daily sale = $20,000;
Accounts receivable/Sales = Daily sales outstanding
AR/20000 = 20 AR = 20,000 x 20 = 400,000

3-2
Multiplier equity/Asset = 2.5; 1+x = 2.5 X = 2.5 -1.00 = 1.5
Debt Ratio = TL/TA
1.5/2.5 = 0.60 which is 60%

D/A = 1-0.40 = 0.60 or 60%
3-3
Book value per share = Common equity/ Shares outstanding
Book Value = 6,000,000,000/800,000,000 = 7.50

Market/book ratio = Market price per share/Book value per share =75/7.50 = 10

3-4
Price /cash flow per share = price cash flow ratio
P/$3.00 = 8 x 3 = $ 24.00

P/E = $24.00/$1.50 =16.00

3-5
Profit margin x Total assets turn over x Equity multiplier = ROE
=3% x 100,000,000/$50,000,000 x 2 = 12%.
ROE = 12%

3-6
ROA = 10%
Profit Margin = 2% Return on Equity = 15%

Net income/Assets = Net income/Sales x Sales/Total assets
2%x S/TA =10% S/TA = 5.
Net income/Equity = Net Income/Sales x Sales/Total Assets x Total Assets/Equity 2% x 5 x Total Assets/equity= 15% 10% x TA/E = 15%
TA/E = 1.5.

3-7
Current asset/Current liability =Current Ratio
3,000,000/CL = 1.5
3,000,000 = 1.5CL
CL = 2,000,000 CA – Inv /CL = 1.0
Therefore
Current Assets – Inventory/Current Liability = Quick Ratio
3,000,000 - Inv / 2,000,000 = 1.0
3,000,000 – Inv = 2,000,000
Inventory = 1,000,000

For these questions I used a financial calculator http://www.arachnoid.com/lutusp/finance.html 4-1
= 10,000(1.10) to the power 5
= 10,000(1.61051) FV= 16,105.10.

4-2
N = 20,
I/YR = 7,
PMT = 0, and
FV = 5000.
PV = $1,292.10.

4-6

N = 5,
I/YR= 7,
PV = 0, and
PMT = 300. FV = 1,725.22.

4-13 a. N = 10,
I/YR= 10,
PMT = -400, and
FV = 0. PV = 2,457.83.

4-14

...ork2012 - 2013 Catalog A Message from the President “Sullivan University is truly a unique and student success focused institution.” I have shared that statement with numerous groups and it simply summarizes my basic philosophy of what Sullivan is all about. When I say that Sullivan is “student success focused,” I feel as President that I owe a definition of this statement to all who are considering Sullivan University. First, Sullivan is unique among institutions of higher education with its innovative, career-first curriculum. You can earn a career diploma or certificate in a year or less and then accept employment while still being able to complete your associate, bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree by attending during the day, evenings, weekends, or online. Business and industry do not expand or hire new employees only in May or June each year. Yet most institutions of higher education operate on a nine-month school year with almost everyone graduating in May. We remained focused on your success and education, and continue to offer our students the opportunity to begin classes or to graduate four times a year with our flexible, year-round full-time schedule of classes. If you really want to attend a school where your needs (your real needs) come first, consider Sullivan University. I believe we can help you exceed your expectations. Since words cannot fully describe the atmosphere at Sullivan University, please accept my personal invitation to visit and experience...

What we do is we sell one Guide billions and billions of times. We exploit the multidimensional nature of the Universe to cut down on manufacturing costs. And we don’t sell to penniless hitchhikers. What a stupid notion that was! Find the one section of the market that, more or less by definition, doesn’t have any money, and try to sell to it. No. We sell to the affluent business traveler and his vacationing wife in a billion, billion different futures. This is the most radical, dynamic and thrusting business venture in the entire multidimensional infinity of space-time-probability ever.” ... But he wasn’t certain how far saying things like “Look” in a stern voice was necessarily going to get him, and time was not on his side. Course: Msc (Science Communication) Faculty of Science National University of Singapore Ganeshini D/O Sri kanthan A0075383Y Name: Student ID: Project Supervisor: A/P Helmer Aslaksen ABSTRACT The Ministry of Education (MOE) recognizes the importance of student engagement in the classroom. However, keeping students engaged in the classroom is a challenge for many educators these days. Student engagement is a contested concept, theorized in a variety of different ways within academic literature. This projects aims to define and understand the concept of student engagement. The purpose of this project was also to find out the usage of engagement based approaches in the classroom. The survey results in this project indicate that teachers do use these approaches in the classroom but not frequently enough. Usage of engagement based approaches in the classroom can be increased with changes in attitudes of teachers, sufficient support from schools and changes in modes of assessment. i AKNOWLEDGEMENTS I would like to thank the following people who have helped me in making this Masters Project interesting and a memorable one:    Associate Professor Helmer Aslaksen for his guidance and patience. ...Enablers of Exuberance Jennifer S. Taub Sept. 4, 2009 DISCUSSION DRAFT Enablers of Exuberance: Legal Acts and Omissions that Facilitated the Global Financial Crisis Jennifer S. Taub1 I. Introduction This paper explores certain legal acts and omissions that facilitated the over-leveraging and near collapse of the global financial system. These ―Legal Enablers‖ fostered the boom that enriched a class of financial intermediaries who followed a storied tradition of gambling away ―other people‘s money.‖2 These mechanisms also made the pain of the bust disproportionately felt by the middle class and poor while shielding the middlemen who created the problems. These legal Enablers permitted the growth of a shadow banking system, without investment limits, transparency or government oversight. In the shadows grew a variety of highly leveraged private investment pools, undercapitalized conduits of securitized loans and speculation in complex credit derivatives. The rationale for allowing this unregulated, parallel system was that it helped to create innovation and provide liquidity. The conventional wisdom was that any risks associated with a hands-off approach could be managed by the ―invisible hand‖3 of the market. In other words, instead of public police, it relied upon private gatekeepers. A legal framework including legislation, rules and court decisions supported this system. This legal structure depended upon corporate managers, counterparties, ―sophisticated investors‖ and the...

Women

...12:06 Page 1 WOMEN, GENDER AND WORK People are not defined solely by their work, nor is it possible to ignore the effects of factors outside the workplace on a person's status at work. To seek equality at work without seeking equality in the larger society – and at home – is illusory.Thus an examination of the issues surrounding women, gender and work must be holistic. That means considering the role of productive work in life as a whole and the distribution of unpaid work as well as the myriad questions relating to employment. This important anthology brings together the thinking of leading philosophers, economists and lawyers on this complex subject. Selected recent articles from the multidisciplinary International Labour Review are assembled for the first time to illuminate questions such as how we should define equality, what equal opportunity means and what statistics tell us about differences between men and women at work, how the family confronts globalization and what is the role of law in achieving equality. There is an examination of policy – to deal with sexual harassment and wage inequality, for example, as well as part-time work, the glass ceiling, social security, and much more. A major reference on the best of current research and analysis on gender roles and work.
