FINANCE
I initially joined Colgate for the opportunity to work for a recognized multinational, and the prospect of having a global career was very enticing.
I am currently a Finance Director for Colgate-Palmolive in the Philippines.
What I like most about working at Colgate is the exposure to different cultures, the focus on people development, and the strong global ethics mindset.
Since joining Colgate, my professional development has taken a very deliberate course through assignments in varying functional and cross-functional situations (for example Corporate Finance, Supply Chain, Customer Development/Sales, and Subsidiary) that have proven to be great building blocks as I progress within the organization. Participation in varying degrees of leadership development programs have also been a strong complement to preparing me for greater challenges as I advance my career within Colgate. Opportunities to also work cross functionally and in different economic and cultural environments have been great contributing factors in my development.
My most exciting projects to-date include my current role in the Philippines which is providing me the opportunity to manage in an environment that is vastly different from the US. I also participated in a year-long leadership development program with fellow Colgate employees from different functions, backgrounds, cultures that provided a great deal of insight into managing in a global environment and Colgate's strategic focus.
The key to being successful at Colgate is being open to different assignments, embracing the global opportunities, and proactively taking the lead on professional development discussions with your managers. Keep connected with fellow employees as they can be very insightful, and advocates in identifying opportunities you might not be aware of.
I would recommend a career at Colgate because our global presence provides a great opportunity to expand your horizon and develop professionally and personally. Also, Colgate is a very solid and stable company that drives hard in delivering outstanding results without compromising its ethics and values.

HUMAN RESOURCES
I chose to join Colgate because of its strong company values, focus on people development and long reputation as a company with high ethical standards.
I am currently the Human Resources Director for Global Marketing and Customer Development based in the US. Most of my time is spent on people development, change management, ensuring appropriate pay for performance and recruitment.
There are several things that I like about working at Colgate. First: Colgate is a very international company so you are always working with people from different backgrounds and perspectives; Second: Colgate places a high value on people development and Third: Colgate has an outstanding reputation as an ethical Company.
Since joining Colgate, I have grown professionally in several ways. I better understand the importance of personal leadership and how it has an impact on the people you work with on a daily basis. I also have learned that while you must be technically competent at what you do, you cannot forget the importance of building relationships.
Every Colgate opportunity has been exciting and very valuable in my development. Some of my favorites have been working in Europe and Latin America. It is great to work with smart and creative people from all over the world. In addition, I am really enjoying the fast pace of my current position and getting to better understand the Company’s commercial strategies.
There are several different recipes for being successful at Colgate. I think a person must possess leadership capability, be competent in their function, be able to network and influence, and build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
I would recommend a career at Colgate because there are lots of opportunities for personal development and growth and it is a company for which you can be proud to work.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY very good reputation in the local markets. I saw the company as a good place where I could learn, have opportunities and grow. I liked the respect and professionalism shown even during the interview process as well as the way I was motivated at the time of the interview.
I am a Global Information Technology Director currently based in the US.
At Colgate, I like the culture, company values, the people, the diversity, the way the company respects all their employees, the opportunities to grow, the fairness in decisions, the transparency of doing business, the management that takes care of company performance and financial health to guarantee the business for shareholders and employees, and of course the products.
I started when I was 24 years old in Colgate Argentina, Buenos Aires, as an Analyst Programmer. I then moved quickly to different positions within IT, becoming the IT Manager and IT Director. My responsibilities then expanded to manage IT in the Southern Cone region, and I was later transferred to Brazil, Sao Paulo, with responsibilities for South America. I finally transferred to the United States where I currently live with my family.
I had many exciting projects. One of them was my role as Project Manager for business processes and system integration of two consecutive company acquisitions in Argentina. Then there was a reengineering initiative that was followed by the implementation of an end-to-end SAP application in South America, including Brazil. I lead the project on the ground with a truly cross-functional local team and an IT US-based team. The transfers to Brazil, and recently to the USA, have been been very enriching experiences, not just professionally, but for the family also. My family speaks three languages, and has had the opportunity to know many places and cultures. We have a lot of good friends in different parts of the world and my children are having unique experiences that will prepare them for the changing world in the future.
Delivering results, accepting challenges, embracing change, demonstrating skills and leadership, working in teams, being committed and being honest are some of the key things to being successful at Colgate.
I would recommend a career at Colgate because it is simply one of the best places to work. This is confirmed by independent surveys in different countries. It is a solid company with strong financials, strong brands, and very good management. We are one of the leading companies in implementing Information Technology solutions, working very closely with our global external partners. There are very good opportunities for training, to grow with challenging initiatives and to work on different projects and in different geographies in a global environment with solid professionals.

LEGAL
I joined Colgate because I had worked in the pharmaceutical area and wanted to use that experience in a different industry. Colgate has a solid reputation and has clear values which align with my own.
I am responsible for all Patent and Patent related matters at Colgate. This includes developing strategies and managing risks related to Patents as well as overseeing Colgate's global Patent portfolio.
What I like most about working at Colgate is there is a great variety of issues — substantively interesting and challenging.
In terms of how I have grown professionally since joining Colgate, I hope that I am a more well rounded leader with an ability to view issues, projects and situations from multiple perspectives and from different scopes (granular as well as the broader picture and implications).
Working on global initiatives on a cross-functional basis has been my most exciting opportunity. This is where Colgate comes alive — various subject matter experts building on each other's expertise to develop competitive and winning strategies. There have been a number of these initiatives and each one has allowed me to work with new people and in new ways.
Flexibility and calm are the keys to being successful at Colgate.
I would recommend a career at Colgate to a friend because the scope of potential career opportunities is the broadest I've ever seen. It's part of the culture to encourage experimentation, which includes your career. People and interests change and Colgate is willing to take great steps to accommodate these changes for valued employees.
MARKETING
and camaraderie.
I joined Colgate in Venezuela where Colgate is seen as a market leader and a company that cares. They are involved in the community and have a non-typical corporate image. Colgate offered me an opportunity to join a company in which I could develop as a person and a professional. I was attracted to the company because it offered me a strong career path and global opportunities not just for a few years, but possibly for the rest of my career.
I am currently the Category Manager for Toothpaste in the Europe/South Pacific Division; managing the on-going category strategy for Colgate's # 1 priority as well as driving business performance at the Divisional level. In this role I have the opportunity to lead the Toothpaste "Go to Market" Team to develop best in class plans and ensure excellence in implementation for new product launches as well as existing business activity across the region.
It is the culture and the camaraderie that I like most about Colgate. Colgate is a tight knit organization in which you work with people from all over the world. No matter what country you are from, what your beliefs are, or your area of expertise, Colgate people are always able to find common ground and build relationships that last.
During my career with Colgate I have developed many of the key skills necessary to be a leader in an organization and have been given an opportunity to expand my horizons in my personal life as well. Over the past 10 years I have had 6 distinct roles across functions, from sales to marketing, on 3 continents. I started my global career in the U.S. in our Global Management Development Program, which offers young managers an opportunity to work in multiple functions and gain invaluable exposure to the realities of our business. It is hard to articulate all the ways that I have grown since joining Colgate, instead I think of the growth opportunities ahead.
Amongst my most exciting projects, I had the great opportunity to drive the innovation pipeline behind the successful Colgate 360 Toothbrush, developing and launching insight based line extensions globally, such as: Colgate 360 Sensitive, Colgate 360 Deep Clean as well as extending the proven Healthy Whole Mouth Clean concept into the new Hybrid brushes platform with 360 SonicPower. This intense stream of innovation behind the brand drove Colgate 360 to the global leadership position that it enjoys today. These outstanding results could only be achieved by aligning all functions within the organization and working very closely with a talented and professional team!
Key to being successful at Colgate is to focus on the possibilities and not the obstacles, have a conviction of your ideas and be true to the Colgate values.
I would recommend a career at Colgate because of our truly diverse workplace. It is not just in our words, it is in our DNA. Working teams, whether local or remote, are truly global in their make-up and outlook. If you are looking to grow long term as a person and a professional, Colgate gives you exposure to a wide variety of people, functions, and projects. The opportunity for learning doesn't end in your 1st, 5th, or even 10th year.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT I joined Colgate right after I graduated from College. I received offers from 2 companies at the same time, one in the area of manufacturing and the other one (Colgate) in R&D. The opportunity of working in R&D was more in line with my professional goals and expectations, and there are not a lot of companies in Mexico that could offer that opportunity. It was clear to me that Colgate would give me the opportunity to grow professionally and at my own pace, so I could look forward to a long-term relationship with the Company. Colgate is a very well known Company and I remembered that we always had Colgate products at our house. I felt that by working at Colgate I would be proud of my work and have the opportunity to create products that at the end will be used by millions of people.
As Research & Development Manager, my main activity is to manage the Product Development team for global cleaning products (R&D). I have a team of 8 people. I'm also part of the "Monarch team" that is in charge of helping the Technology group around the world have a consumer centric focus. I'm also a Quality Systems Auditor and have participated in corporate audits at different CP sites.
There are lots of things I like about working at Colgate, but if I had to choose only one I would say that when I work with people from different departments and/or different countries there is always a feeling of partnership, even if it's the first time you meet or you talk with a person. In this environment you can feel comfortable expressing your opinions and ideas. This feeling helps to make the work easier, more productive, and more enjoyable.
With reference to my professional development, I've been with Colgate for 16 years and have not been in the same role or had the same responsibilities for more than 3 years, so there are always new experiences and new challenges that give me the opportunity to grow. These changes are not always reflected with promotions, but a promotion is not the only way to reflect professional growth.
Most exciting has been the opportunity to live in different countries and learn from different cultures. This has helped not only in my professional growth but also in my personal enrichment. I have also been able to participate in 2 major changes within the Technology team: the creation of Regional Technology Centers and the creation of the Product Development team in Mexico. Starting a new work group with a new structure and responsibilities and the opportunity to be part of the process since the beginning has allowed me to learn a lot. It also provided a chance to re-invent the way of doing things and share the experience acquired with new people. I was also part of the team that helped to design, install and start the new Oral Care Factory in Brazil (Anchieta) and this experience was also very exciting. I was able to see the building of a new plant from sketches until the final construction is finished.
To be successful at Colgate, be professional, committed to the objectives and faithful to the values. Don't be afraid to express your opinions and ideas. Challenge the status quo in a creative way, always trying to improve how things are done. The Colgate environment fosters this approach.
I would recommend Colgate as it is a very stable company, even during uncertain conditions. One of the reasons for its stability is the continuous renewal that happens. This creates a challenging environment where an employee can feel that he/she is always doing new things and learning from each of them, so he/she is part of the change. At Colgate, every new employee at a certain time is able to participate in shaping the Company's future.

SALE AND CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP
[pic]I joined Colgate because one of my friends worked at Colgate and he always recommended Colgate as a one of the best companies to work for. I also knew that Colgate was a strong multinational company and I believe that Colgate has a real commitment to caring for people.
I'm currently the Customer Development Director for Colgate Palmolive in Ecuador.
What I like most about working at Colgate is that it is a company that really lives their values. For me, it is really important that people work as a team and that people are free to communicate openly and honestly. I always have challenges that reinforce my leadership capabilities.
Since joining Colgate, I have had the opportunity to work in different areas: Consumer Marketing, Customer marketing and Customer Development/Sales. Two key factors have played a role: The leadership that the company exhibits and the commitment and passion that each of us has put into achieving our goals and leading change (innovation).
My most exciting opportunities to-date were becoming the Direct Trade Customer Development Director in a big subsidiary like Mexico, and my current role as a Customer Development Director in Ecuador.
To be successful at Colgate, lead the change, and encourage creative and innovative thinking, achieve balance between your personal and professional life, foster teamwork, and take accountability in all the projects you have.
I would recommend a career at Colgate because Colgate has a strong commitment to all their employees: development, professional growth, plus tools and training for continuous development. Colgate believes in the right balance between personal and professional life, and fosters diversity and leadership.
SUPPLY CHAIN
I joined Colgate because I desired a career in manufacturing. I wanted to work for a consumer products company where I could see the products on the shelves. I also was attracted to the Colgate culture which I would describe as people-oriented and flexible.
I am currently the Director of Worldwide Quality at Hill's Pet Nutrition, but have worked most of my career in the Supply Chain cross-divisionally and cross-categorically.
What I like most about working at Colgate is the flexibility to develop cross functionally and work with multiple cultures around the world.
Through multiple informal mentors and opportunities to receive both formalized and job exposure leadership training, I truly feel I have developed a style which helps me to be successful as a leader. Exposure to global communities and cultures truly develops you as a person and a leader.
My most exciting opportunities have been to lead cross-functional teams driving strategic change (e.g. moving to the Global Supply Chain model).
The most important lesson I have learned to be a successful leader is to foster, motivate and develop your team. You are successful if your team is successful.
I would recommend a career with Colgate because it has a terrific balance of having a winning attitude and at the same time developing people to be successful.

...Jella Mae Macalima November 24, 2014 BSTM-2B Ms.Ana Esquierdo “9 RULES OF FREEDOM OF THE AIR” The freedoms of the air are a set of commercial aviation rights granting a country's airlines the privilege to enter and land in another country's airspace, formulated as a result of disagreements over the extent of aviation liberalisation in the Convention on International Civil Aviation of 1944, known as the Chicago Convention. The United States had called for a standardized set of separate air rights to be negotiated between states, but most other countries were concerned that the size of the U.S. airlines would dominate air travel if there were not strict rules. The freedoms of the air are the fundamental building blocks of the international commercial aviation route network. The use of the terms "freedom" and "right" confer entitlement to operate international air services only within the scope of the multilateral and bilateral treaties (air services agreements) that allow them. The first two freedoms concern the passage of commercial aircraft through foreign airspace and airports, the other freedoms are about carrying people, mail and cargo internationally. The first through fifth freedoms are officially enumerated by international treaties, especially...

...Finance and Financial Management Finance and financial management encompass numerous business and governmental activities. In the most basic sense, the term finance can be used to describe the activities of a firm attempting to raise capital through the sale of stocks, bonds, or other promissory notes. Similarly, public finance is a term used to describe government capital-raising activities through the issuance of bonds or the imposition of taxes. Financial management can be defined as those business activities undertaken with the goal of maximizing shareholder wealth, utilizing the principles of the time value of money, leverage, diversification, and an investment's expected rate of return versus its risk. Within the discipline of finance, there are three basic components. First, there are financial instruments. These instruments—stocks and bonds—are recorded evidence of obligations on which exchanges of resources are founded. Effective investment management of these financial instruments is a vital part of any organization's financing activities. Second, there are financial markets, which are the mechanisms used to trade the financial instruments. Finally, there are banking and financial institutions, which facilitate the transfer of resources among those buying and selling the financial instruments. In today's business environment, corporate finance addresses issues relating to individual firms. Specifically, the field of corporate finance seeks to determine...

The financial manager plays the crucial role in the modern enterprise by supporting investment decision, financing decision, and also the profit distribution decision. He/she also helps the firm in balancing cash inflows and cash outflows, and in turn to maintain the liquidity position of the firm. How does the modern financial manager differ from the traditional financial manager? Does the modern financial manager's role differ for the large diversified firm and the small to medium size firm? The traditional financial manager was generally involved in the regular finance activities, e.g., banking operations, record keeping, management of the cash flow on a regular basis, and informing the funds requirements to the top management, etc. But, the role of financial manager has been enhanced in the today's environment; he/she takes an active role in financing, investment, distribution of profits, and liquidity decisions. In addition, he/she is also involved in the custody and safeguarding of financial and physical assets, efficient allocation of funds, etc. The role of financial manager in case of diversified firm is more complicated in comparison with a small and medium size firm. A diversified firm has several products and divisions and varied financial needs. The conflicting interests of divisional...

...Response to the Finance Questions Name University Response to the Finance Questions Response to Question 1 Liquidity premium theory states that the yield obtained from the bonds that are long term are greater than the return that is expected from short-term bonds that roll over so as to compensate long-term bonds investors for bearing the risks of interest rate. Bonds that have different maturity can, therefore, have different yields regardless of the possibility of future short rates being equivalent to the present short rate. This results in a yield curve that bends upwards even if the short rates are expected to fall if liquidity premiums are sufficiently high. However if the curve slopes downwards and an assumption is made that the liquidity premiums is positive, then we can presume that future short rates would be lower than the present short rate (Lim & Ogaki, 2013). Liquidity premium theory agrees with expectations theory since it gives the same significance to the expected future spot rates though it puts more weight on the impacts of the risk preferences that exist in the market. The main concept of this theory is to compensate an investor for the additional risk of having his capital tied up for a more extended period. It, therefore, aims at enticing investors to engage in long-term investments. Due to the uncertainty associated with long-term rates which have less marketability and greater price variability, investors, therefore, need to be given higher...

...8. Moral hazard occurs when individuals tend to be very risky when there are protections if a loss occurs. This is more likely in indirect finance. For example, when an individual purchase a new car, they insure it and their policy dictates that if an individual accidentally hits their vehicle, they are obligated to a new vehicle. So after a few years and that individual gets tired of their vehicle and is desperately in need of a new one, they would intentionally drive a bit reckless to allow someone to hit their vehicle.  Lemons problem can be both indirect and direct finance. It occurs when one party to a transaction do not have the same degree of information. The party with less information take a risk hoping that the “lemon” is a good buy. For example, in the used car industry, the seller has all the information about the car and may limit the actual reason as to why they are selling the car, the problems the car has etc. intermediaries in the financial market can reduce lemon problems by reducing the attractiveness of direct finance by offering more incencitives to individuals when acquiring finances, offer provision for information, enforce laws on information given ensuring individuals receives sufficient information. Financial intermediaries have expertise in assessing the risk of the applicant for funds that reduces adverse selection and moral hazard. They have easy access to various databases that provide information on both individuals and businesses, and they...

...able to see the visible fruits that are the yield of good stewardship and decisions. The book of Proverbs was a series of exhortations and encouragements written by King Solomon to his son.  In chapter 23 verse 23, Solomon states, “Buy truth, and do not sell it; buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding.” For thousands of years, mankind has been given stewardship of resources; natural, human, intellectual and financial. The process of managing these resources, specifically financial resources, requires intentional short-term and long-term planning. More importantly, in order for capital management to be deemed successful, it is required that all members of an organization are on board. “Capital budgeting is not only important to people in finance or accounting, it is essential to people throughout the business organization”< /span> (Block, Hirt, & Danielsen, 2011). As the duration of the investment period increases, and the size of investment increases, the residual risk also increases. For a firm to effectively manage its resources it begins with the administrative considerations, ranges to the ranking of the capital investments, the strategy of selection processes and various other financial planning details and concerns. Once again, we find in Proverbs 24:3-4, “By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all...
