...The beeping of my alarm clock sounded like a countdown. The first day of high school was only two hours away. I was excited, but a lot more nervous. I got out of bed, got ready, and then was on my way to the bus stop. All I could think of were the stories I heard about high school being so horrible with all the strict teachers, the really hard tests, and of course being a freshman didn’t help either. The bus ride to the school was only ten minutes, but it seemed a lot longer. When we finally got there, I was more nervous than ever. The day ahead of me was about to get a lot more complicated though with all the work, finding a seat at lunch, and getting lost. I just knew the first day of high school was going to be a memorable one. I drug my feet slowly, walking forward as I started looking at all the other kids; most of them were in their groups and were talking, laughing and smiling amongst themselves. It was very loud, almost as if I were in a football stadium. I could see teachers confronting the other students for wearing hats, having their IPod headphones in, or just causing mischief. I felt very small, like an ant, waiting to be crushed by someone. I opened the double glass office doors to a place with more people than I ever thought could fit into that small of an area. Everyone was elbow to elbow; it was like being in a sardine can. It turns out I was not the only one who was having difficulties finding my way around. I heard a loud bell...

...The first day The short story, “The first day” is about a young daughter and a mother. It is written by Edward P. Jones The daughter is about to start in elementary school, and there is a lot of feelings involved in this new chapter of her life. The girl is wearing a checkeredlike blue-and-green cotton dress, and her mother spent nearly an hour on her hair this morning, plaiting and replaiting, so that the girl’s head tingles, all this for making a good expression of her daughter, the first day of a whole new life with school. The new start of the daughter’s life starts out crooked anyhow, as they are turned down at the first school they go to. The mother wants her to go to Seaton Elementary School, as its location is close to an important place for the mother. Seaton is just across the street from her mother’s rock – the church. The reason the woman from Seaton Elementary School turns them down is because of the place they are living. She says that since they are living beyond the area that Seaton serves, her daughter cannot be attending Seaton. They will have to visit Walker-Jones Elementary School instead. The mother is not convinced yet though, for several more minutes she questions the woman why her daughter can’t attend Seaton. This point in the story gives great insight in her mother’s will, and how much she really wants to give her daughter an education. Even though the woman turns her down, she does not give up. As well as it shows that she has a strong...

...My first day at college was so fantastic that I have never met before. I used to think about the class in college which is different from in high school. The most things that I was wondering is about the course study to get the credit which make me blank and the assignment too. I was not use to change from high school to college that why I was a little scared when I went into the building, and I saw so many students that I did not know. I was surprised that we have class all day and there are around 150 students in one lecture class. I went to my first class really early so that I could get a seat close to the teacher to record the class and meet my classmate. Fortunately, there were some students that I knew from high school. Therefore, the class is not so scaring anymore and everything is seemed to be better than before. Now is one another thing, I did not realize that college’s student could wear whatever they want; it doesn’t matter with the uniform. But except one, is about your ID card, you have to put it on whenever you are in college, if you don’t, you won’t be allowed having the class, so it totally different to compare to high school. Related to this, the college contains only two sections for one morning, each section last two hours. And we have fifteen minutes for having the break time. After that, I went to my next class. As I was walking, I tried to make new friends with the other students. The morning class is finished; I stayed at college and had lunch with...

It took my eyes a couple of minutes to realize where I was, and what was about to happen the following day. I got out of bed, went into the bathroom to shower up before going upstairs for breakfast with my new Host family. My Host mother had told me the night before she would drop me of at School before going to work. I sad there around the table, wearing a black shirt and a colour full t-shirt and felt how every bite of toast was a effort to press down. I finished of my coffee and went downstairs to back my school bag. Ten minutes later I was there. My host mother left in front of a door saying “Cashmere High head office” I Went inside and turned to the front desk immediately where a woman wearing a blue dress sat. I told her my name, and where I was from. She pointed me through another door going into a bigger hall way. There I found another 10 foreign student nervously standing around. We stood there for a while too shy to start the first conversation, waiting for someone telling us what to do. A short foreign looking lady came in to the room to greet us all welcome. Here name tag said “Mr. yogi, International support coordinator” . She was going to show us around the school for a start. We got handed a map, telling us where all the different classrooms were and how to find our way around. We walked around...

...productive person in society. This is story about my first day in first grade. It was a blustery Monday morning. I was awakened by my mother giving me a kiss on my forehead. The air in the room smelled stale from sleep which emphasized the smell of coffee on her breathe-it was so fresh I could almost taste it. “Time to wake up for your first day of school.”, she said. My vision started to come into focus as I slowly began to open my eyes. Magically my clothes, which were flung all over the floor the night before, were perfectly folded on the dresser. The shades on my bedroom window were drawn to the very top, aiming the early morning sun straight into my direction, blinding me. I could hear the wind outside, cool and crisp, causing me to burrow further into my blankets-interrupting my own personal cocoon of warmth and safety. “You’re going to be late for your first day of school if you don’t get moving!”. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and planted my feet on the soft, vanilla colored carpet. Instantly, I felt the nervousness fluttering through my veins. Today is going to be my first day in First grade. I was in the bathroom combing my bed head, brushing my teeth, and drying off from my morning shower. While getting ready, the aroma coming from the kitchen was mouth watering. With that first whiff, I instantly knew what riches would be presented to me at the breakfast table. I knew that today was going to be an important day in my life, but I didn’t know It was going to commence...

...forward to the first day of work at a new job there are new people to me, much to learn, and money to be made. While I 'd had other jobs prior to starting my last job, nothing could have prepared me for the type of work environment that I encountered when I walked in to begin my employment. The first day of my job at a fast food restaurant was less than pleasing; and I believe that I am not the only one who felt this way. First of all, I didn’t 't like my job because I had no much experience and no one who was working the shift that I was to be trained on was my age. Everyone was much older and more experienced than I. I knew that if I had to work with these people every day that I would hate it. There would be nothing to talk about and we would have nothing in common. They would always be telling me what to do and calling me “young one” or something like that. I was not looking forward to working with them, but to do my best because I needed money. The other thing I did not like about my new job was my manager. This guy thought he was the commander in chief of the restaurant and barked out commands at people like he was a drill sergeant. He made one lady cry needless to say, I was not looking forward to spending my days with him after watching this take place and that push me even more to do my job, not just my job but right; My thoughts where on not to be in her shoes never and wonder if I it was my best choice. __I felt lonely and help less. Somewhere that day I felt that I...

...First Snow Day Looking out the window thinking that it was the most wonderful sight I’ve ever saw. It was the day that the entire city of Detroit, MI was covered in so much snow; everything had come to a halt. Low pressure had come in 24 hours before, and less than twenty-four hours and twelve feet of snow later, the entire city was drenched in the snow’s icy hands. There wasn’t anything that you could do because everyone was at the mercy of the snow and I loved it. I wanted to run in my daughters’ room to wake her so that she could see the white blanket that covered everything outside. Just the sight of twelve feet of snow was too much for me to handle, and many abandoned buildings collapsed as a result of it. As I peered out the window of our upstairs apartment building, the bright light reflecting from the snow nearly blinded me. When my vision cleared, and I was able to see, I was in awe at the sight that I was seeing. It seemed like someone had taken a big bag of sparkling sugar and poured it upon the earth. The normal things that would usually have met my eyes in the morning were mere blobs in the snow, indistinguishable among the white blanket that covered the city. As I went downstairs to open the door to have a look further outside, my path outside was blocked by a wall of snow; unmoving and solid. A slight chill crept over my body as the cold air poured into the warm building and I ran back inside of my warm and toasty apartment. I watched as the snow plows moved...

...My first day a school The poem describes how the little boy feels about his first school day. The boy was very nervous, maybe because he doesn't know anything about school or what school is like. I remember my first day at school, as something really special. I remember that the day before the start, I couldn't fall asleep. My anxiety hat taken over my body. The day started with my mother came into my room and woke me up, but I was already up. I had put on my prettiest clothes and I had already, the day before, made my mother braid my hair so I had curls, when I woke up. My school was 300 meters from where I lived, so I didn't have very long to go. My mother had taken he day off, so she could be there with me. When we came up to the school, where there already lots of children and parents. I clearly remember how I squeezed my mother's hand and I felt safe. The inspector said welcome and there were community singing. It was a tradition that there were community songs every year, and the inspector tell the new pupils welcome. After the songs, it was time to go into the classrooms. I was very excited to meet my new class, but I was a happy little girl, when I saw that there were two girls in my class, whom I went to nursery with. When I had found my class and everybody were together, we had to find some seats. On each table there was a note with each name on it, a juice and an apple. I went around in the classroom long before I found my name, I had to sit next to somebody named...

...Ferdi M. Agaliyev Men’s Health 208 David Caldwell First three day’s I was starving by the food choices I made on my nutrient list, I even made some changes on my list on a second day, but I was still starving. After third day it become simple for me to follow my list. I realized that if I kept myself busy I won’t be starving, and I kept myself busy by playing soccer on my free times and that makes me drink a lot of water which also keeps me away from starving. ‘’ we are what we eat’’ is an old expression people used back in time, but I think that it is more accurate to say “we are what we absorb”. In my opinion it does not matter what we eat, it matters how we eat it. For example, if I eat fast food from McDonalds every day, I don’t think that I will get fat because I won’t eat a lot to get my stomach full, but I will eat enough so that my stomach won’t starve. I like to eat my food slowly and mindfully because I want to enjoy my food and I think that it is the way to eat healthy. Some factors affect the way I eat for example, skipping breakfast. When I skip breakfast my stomach starves and when my stomach starves I eat more than I suppose to on my lunch time. I don’t really care about the nutrients when I am starving. My opinion about organic food that it is the real food than nonorganic. When I eat organic food, it taste better than GMO’s because I think that when they grow foods with some chemicals it ruins the taste. Organic foods are the healthiest food in this...
