The stronger the evidence the more likely an intervention is to be accepted into clinical practice. According to Houser (2012, p.471) it is recommended to determine that study satisfies general requirements of inclusion in an integrative review, meets screening criteria as a qualitative study, its level of evidence based on standards of trustworthiness and strength of recommendations based on quality of evidence. A study satisfies requirements for inclusion in review if it was published in peer-reviewed journal and if the problem addressed in the study meets criteria for inclusion in a review. There are five levels of evidence that can be assigned to a study using a somewhat formalized process described by Houser (2012, p.275). Level 1 study has the highest possible standards of evidence and while Level 5 has the lowest(Houser, 2012). To be classified as Level 1 study, it has to meet the standards for transferability, credibility, dependability and verifiability. The strength of recommendations is assigned according to three grades A though C. Grade A level studies are supported by one or more Level 1 studies while Grade C are only supported by no higher than Level 4 studies(Houser, 2012). By examining the studies levels of evidence and grades are determined according to various standards. Depending on the assigned level and grade results of such studies can be considered for implementation in a clinical practice(Houser, 2012). Thus a Level 1 and Grade A study is much easier to translated into practice rather than Level 4 and Grade C. When incorporating evidence-based practice patient/family preferences are important because of the autonomy principle that protects a basic patient right for self-determination.

...First Paper The traditional retail model has focused on finding high-margin, high-volume products or services because limited space means reduced space inventory. For example, organizations such as Walmart select the biggest hits from the broadest genres, called the “short head.” The short head means Walmart will only carry a select mix of country, pop, and rock that is calculated to provide the greatest cost/benefit. The business model of Amazon is different. Amazon provides the short head but also provides the “long tail” of more than 100,000 different audio selections. The competition for customers between the Walmart and Amazon marketplace is profoundly changing the face of retail business today. Using the assigned reading and the Argosy University online library resources, find at least three scholarly articles that address similar current trends related to e-business and how e-business is changing the face of businesses today. Using your company or a real-world example from your research, respond to the following: * Describe how technology is changing the face of businesses today. * Describe the most critical business processes that utilize information systems in your selected company. * Explain how IT makes the company’s business processes faster, cheaper, more accurate, and customer-savvy than that of competitors. * Cite at least three sources found in your online library research. Give reasons and examples from your research to support your responses...

Personal Narrative: My First Paper

...My first paper was a little rocky. At first I could not settle with a topic. When I would start to write a paper I would think it was not good enough and change it to something else. I changed my paper three different times. It was just hard for me to get started and it was also hard narrowing down my topic because I felt like what I was talking about was so broad. Turns out when I finally picked my topic my paper was headed in all the wrong directions. I ended up having to change a lot of things. When I went to Professor Warfield’s office hours it did help me but I was still a little discouraged that I would never get my paper right. I am still trying to keep a positive mind frame and I am hoping for the best with my grade. Overall I learned...

First Amendment Paper

...First Amendment Paper San Juana Campos 4/15/2013 HIS/301 Mr. Garcia Introduction The ancestors ratified the first amendment of the US constitution in 1791, which formed the basis of Bill of Rights. It is imperative to assert that this amendment contains five provisions, which include choice of vocalization, press, and religion. Other provisions include the rights to petition, as well as assembly. The first amendment is critical since it shields some of the significant, fundamental human rights, as well as reflecting on concerns, which the government may ignore (Patterson, 2009). All these rights have limitations, thus prompting the Supreme Court to take primacy in passing the verdicts. Some of these cases relate to the five stipulations of amendment one. The distinguished cases include ‘Edward against South Carolina of 1963’ and ‘Hazelwood School District against Kuhlmeier of 1988’. The former case encompasses detainment of nonviolent protesters for unlawful conduct. The later is about liberty of expression in schools. Significant Cases Related to the Freedoms The case of Edwards against South Carolina occurred in 1963 when an assemblage of 187 Negros scholars gathered to express peacefully. This owed to the fact that they felt upset by laws of South Carolina, which purportedly forbidden their privileges. This group of lobbyists assembled at the spot of State administration...

...Hoffman Dr. Jack 5 Alexis Hoffman Dr. Jack English 2B 30 November 2014 “The Impact of Civil Wars’ First Battle: Bull Run” A couple months before 1861, Confederate troops had attacked Fort Sumter and as a result began the series of battles known as the Civil War. Inspired by earlier winnings made by Union troops in western Virginia, the famous president Lincoln commanded General Irvin McDowell to make an army that would attack quickly and efficiently toward the south and create a route to Richmond. That would result in ending the war extremely fast. The battle would begin with an attack on more than 20,000 Confederate soldiers. Pierre Gustave Toutant-Beauregard (P.G.T) had set up camp near Manassas Junction, Virginia (25 miles from Washington, D.C.) along a river known as Bull Run....

...LET1 Task 317.1.5-10, 11 Craig Bailey ( 000217808 ) Western Governors University Section A of this task asks to describe each of the 5 bases of power from the given scenario supported by examples. It should be noted that the 5 bases are split into to 2 primary power base types. Legitimacy, Reward and Coercive all belong in the Formal power type. The second power type is Personal power. The Expert and Referent bases fall into this category. Each power base is described below. 1. Reward is where a person expects a positive response to an action performed. The response can be praise, time off, monetary, or anything else the person values as a reward. In our scenario the manager is offering the prospect of a yearly bonus through a superior rating for those who work more than 40 hours per week. Employee 1 values that reward and puts forth the effort in hopes that his or her performance will meet the goal of a superior rating. 2. The second base of power to discuss is Legitimacy. Employee 1's manager has reminded the subordinates of the yearly bonus and Employee 1 acknowledges that if he or she wants to get the bonus and go on a vacation, he or she must follow the recommendation by the manager to work additional hours in the hope that he or she will obtain a superior rating from the manager. Additionally, Employee 3 received legitimacy from being selected to lead the sales team on his or her project to increase sales. 3. The third base of power is Coercive. Employee 2 has...

Cig Rolling

...habit. I am going to show you a quick and easy way to not only cut the cost of cigarettes in half, but also save you hundred of dollars. A select few smokers of the modern world have been fortunate enough to find the solution to the climbing prices of cigarettes. This solution is actually very simple. Why don’t we, instead of spending the $6 plus on an already produced pack of Marlboro Lights, make and produce our own pack of very similar cigarettes? Herein lies the solution; roll your own cigarettes. Most people shy away from such an idea claiming that they would never know where to start, or have no idea where they would buy the equipment, but on contrary the first steps to this new lifestyle are very easy, and the tools needed are readily available. The benefits of rolling your own cigarettes are numerous. First off, its inexpensive. GS Hammack, a man who writes for a website called AssociatedContact.com, said that “smokers that are looking for an immediate saving will find that they can reduce the price of a pack of cigarettes from around $4.50 (in the Dallas Texas area) down to around $1.25, or maybe even a little less”. Another benefit is that, believe it or not, rolled cigarettes are more healthy for you than a regular pack of cigarettes. The bags that the tobacco come in are additive-free, which means that the rat poison and lip...

Ancient Chinese Contributions

...Ancient Chinese Contributions Kenneth Smith Professor Maxine Brown HUM 111-World Cultures I November 29, 2012 The Ancient Chinese culture has contributed in many ways to the way of life today as we know it. Upon completion of this paper, I will have identified eight to ten useful inventions or contributions that are used in the world today. Some of these inventions include the compass, gunpowder, row planting, deep drilling, and toilet paper and so on. Within those eight to ten inventions, I will choose four that I believe are the most innovative. Row Planting (Feudal period – 6th Cent BC) The Chinese started planting crops in rows sometime in the 6th century BC. This allows the crops to grow stronger and faster. It facilitates more planting, weeding, harvesting and watering. There is also documentation that they realize that as wind travels over the rows of plants there is less damage. This obvious development was not instituted in the western world for another 2200 years. (Steven H 2009) Compass (Feudal period – 4th Cent BC) The Chinese developed a lodestone compass to indicate direction sometime in the 4th century BC. These compasses were south pointing and primarily used on land as divination tools and direct finders. Written in the 4th century BC, in the Book of the Devil Valley Master it is written: “lodestone makes iron come or attracts it”. The spoons were made of lodestone, while the plates were of bronze. Thermo-remanence needles were being produced for...

Personal Narrative: Art Censorship

...Throughout my 8th grade writing career, I have changed a lot. I used to despise writing assignments, and I always procrastinate when I have to work at home. Now I find myself enjoying some of the writing tasks. I still think some papers are pointless, but I have started to enjoy prompts such as narrative writing. In fact, I have even started to write my own story for fun. As a writer, I’d say I use pretty good language. I can describe things well, I’m good at organization, but I can improve on all of these. I also need to work on concentrating so that I don’t have to work late. A writer always has room to grow. While one may be excellent in some parts of writing, they’re not the best at everything. For me, I’d say I’m good at descriptions,...

Personal Narrative: If You Give A Suitor A Cookie

...anything, much less passive voice and 9th grade English rules. My very first piece, “If You Give a Suitor a Cookie”, was an analytical 8-point paper about The Odyssey, and it was quite literally the worst paper I have ever written. It was so terrible, that I couldn’t even make it through the first paragraph, when I attempted to re-read it. I remembered my writing not being horrible, because, otherwise, I wouldn’t have turned it in. As I recall, it was so bad, that you didn’t even grade it, because I would’ve gotten an F (thank you about that, by the way). This paper exemplifies the very beginning of my career as a high school writer, and through re-reading...

...down into a few different parts. First, I do research and gather information if research is necessary to the paper’s topic. Then, I would start writing the introduction to the paper. Next, I do the actual writing of the paper and describe each topic in more detail. The last step is to, I revise it in case of any errors. I also revise it to make it better. Each step is important in order to make my writing good. I will discuss in depth and detail about each part of my writing process. As soon as I get the topic and know what I am to write about, I think to myself of some of the ideas that I have that could relate to this piece of writing. Often times, I come up with a story in my own life that can relate or something that I know of that can influence my paper to have more meaning, not only to the reader, but also to me. It will make writing the paper easier if you can make a connection to the topic and relate it to yourself somehow. If I don’t really have a way to connect it I just brainstorm for things or ideas that can be included or used in the piece. I make a list of things pertaining to the paper so I can go through the list easier. If it is a really detailed piece, I sometimes use the web process. If it is necessary to the paper, I will research the topic and try to gather more information about it. If not, I just stick to the list or web. Each one of my idea gathering processes has its benefits and is used depending on the type of paper I need to write. At this point,...

English Reflective Essay

...Although there were specific instructions to not use second person I did not fully understand what that meant. Coming into English 1113, I had not been corrected on my point of view before. Whenever I received feedback on this essay, I learned to be more careful while writing my papers. In “Lean on Me,” there were more corrections made about my use of second person than in “Let’s Get Ready to Rumble.” In everyday conversation, I find myself speaking in second person rather than first or third. I am accustomed to using “you” and “your” instead of “he or she” and “his or hers”. My previous English teachers have not corrected any of my papers on its point of view. I had begun to learn how to correct myself and have others proof read my papers; however, on this particular paper, I failed to do so. Throughout “Lean on Me” I was continuously corrected on my use of second person in my writing. Based on what I have learned throughout English 1113, I am able to notice errors I have made by not writing my papers in either first or third person. During this course, I have developed into a better writer because I have learned from Mrs. Menetre’s corrections. In “Perceptions of Perfection,” I remained in first person for the duration of my...
