Fitness and Nutrition Paper
Fitness and nutritional habits should be more regulated in the United States. American’s are becoming less healthy each year causing more obesity across the country. People are not as active, making poor eating choices, staying indoors more often and always on the run resulting in an unhealthy and less active society. Simply by changing our daily habits by encompassing healthy meal plans and exercise we can change this ongoing issue making for a longer healthier life for generations to come.

As for my current fitness and nutritional habits, they have suffered in the past six to nine months. My health and wellness has been a roller coaster for many years. I have been eating on the go, never working-out and essentially doing whatever was quick, easy, and convenient. I have had some personal life changes which have made all this change in the past month or so. I have known I’ve had high blood pressure for over 20 years as it is hereditary in my family. Most recently I have had spells where I would almost pass out, dizzy and become very light headed. After visiting the Doctor he recommended performing a stress test and EKG which showed at some point I had had a mini-stroke. I feel this was a wakeup call to get my life back on track and to stay on track for the duration of my life. My wife and I have begun to plan out my weekly meals with the consultation of a certified trainer and we have been exercising five nights a week. I know I have a long road ahead of me, but I feel as though I am heading down the right path for success. I am sure if I did not make this change, I would have had a stroke or heart attack before I turned 40 years old. People who carry on my prior eating way of life tend to become obese. Obesity is an extremely serious health concern among society today. Obesity can

...Nutrition and Fitness Adrienne Ferrara SCI 100 December 3, 2012 Laura Peters Nutrition and Fitness Nutrition and physical exercise are essential to living a healthy lifestyle. Each is valuable but together provide the most benefits. Consuming the right amount of nutrients can improve your physical performance, and exercise can help our bodies to use these nutrients resourcefully. This paper will discuss my current fitness and nutritional habits, explain the dangers of obesity, and identify new fitness and nutritional habits that I can incorporate into my lifestyle. I would consider my current fitness to be above average. Ever since I was in grade school I’ve always participated in a team sport and as I grew older, I’ve made a continuous effort to exercise 4 to 5 times a week. As for my eating habits, I don’t always eat as well as I should, but I am putting in more effort now than ever before to make better nutritious decisions. Obesity is the result of an excessive high amount of body fat. BMI (Body Mass Index) does not directly measure body fat but relates with the amount of body fat. When determining obesity, it is vital to consider fat distribution throughout the body, and body fat deposits. Obesity is a complex health issue because there are many different factors that play a part in obesity (Donatelle, "Chapter 9, Managing Your Weight, Overweight or Obese?," 2010). ...Nutrition and Fitness Veronica L. Powell University of Phoenix SCI/100 Terry Gatchell April 20, 2010 Nutrition and Fitness In July 1996 I was at Fort Jackson, South Carolina entering Basic Training for the United States Army. The training was rigorous to say the least. Every morning we were up at 0500 (military time) to do physical training (PT), which involved running two or three miles, doing sit-ups, push-ups, and side straddle hops (jumping jacks). The Army gave three basic meals a day: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Although we were allowed a variety of meats, starches, and vegetables to choose from, these meals provided the daily nutritional value recommended for the human body and served using the correct portion size. Prior to going to the military I personally had no idea about nutrition and fitness and how it was important to the human body. Upon examining nutrition and fitness, the focus of this paper will be my current fitness and nutritional habits, health risks associated with obesity, identify and describe three new fitness habits, identify and describe three new nutritional habits, find how new habits promote healthy weight, and how new habits benefit my health. Current Nutritional and Fitness Habits During the past couple of years my nutritional and fitness habits have changed dramatically.
