Flathead Catfishing

Flathead catfishing is frequently seen in the United States. Why! Because flathead catfish are a native species of the waters there and are popular among the masses as game fish and food. Initially, Flathead catfish dwelled in the Mississippi River and its outlets, but later it found its way to the slow moving waters of the nation. Today, flathead catfish can be found in big rivers, streams, lakes and ponds across the entire United States. Deep waters are their favorite hideouts where they take cover under fallen logs and rocks.

Flatheads derive their name from the shape of their heads which is slightly long and flat. They also have flat oval shaped eyes and a bigger lower jaw that sticks out past the upper jaw.
