In the beginning there was darkness. Then there was light. Then there was consciousness. Then there were questions and then there was religion. Why are we? Where do we come from? Why does the world and nature act as it does? What happens when we die? The movie “Flatliners”, looked to explore this.
"Today is a good day to die!" says Nelson, an ambitious and fame-seeking medical student. Recruiting four other students for a daring, arrogant experiment in which they plan to see what lies beyond life, they take turns stopping their hearts until the monitors that read their vital signs indicate nothing but flat lines: i.e., they are dead. Minutes later, the other team members, armed with an array of medical equipment, step in to revive them.

Each student has a different reason for wanting to take part in the secret experiment. Rachel, contemplating her deceased father, wants to make sure that when you die you're going to a good place.

Nelson, an egomaniac, wants to die and come back with the answers to life and death, because he believes that philosophy and religion have failed, so it is now up to the physical scientists. However, soon after his life-after-death experience, the supernatural begins to intrude violently upon his reality through strange occurrences and shadowy characters who tell him, "In the end, we all know what we've done."

Joe, the promiscuous womanizer, begins to have negative experiences, too, after he dies and is revived. His sexual conquests come back to haunt him, as he has to face what he has done to the young women who trusted him.

David goes under next, and a schoolmate he scorned and laughed at during childhood later materializes to give him the same treatment. The last to take a peek at the afterlife is Rachel, whose near-death journey returns her to childhood to relive her dad's traumatic suicide. She is subsequently hounded

Heart Attack Grill: Video Analysis

...The video starts off with introducing The Heart Attack Grill, a company who is named for its fat and greasy food. The restaurant is described as a hospital themed hooters where waitresses are dressed as nurses and the customers are dressed in hospital gowns. While the outfits people in the restaurant's wear draw attention, it is the menu that draws the most attention, with the burgers being called the single, double, triple and quadruple bypass burgers or you could get flatliners fries fried in lard. To wash down the meal you have options like mexican coca cola (uses real sugar) or a butter fat shake. Another issue at the restaurant drawing attention is the fact that people who weigh over 350 pounds can eat for free at the restaurant. The...

Thanksgiving Conflict

...was injecting a needle with drugs into his arm. She cries and they hug, and she finally understands what really happened. Nelson flatlines himself in order to justify Billy Mahoney’s death. Everyone rushes to bring him back, while Nelson is on the tree instead and bill Mahoney is throwing rocks at him. After a while, young Nelson falls off the tree and dies, but comes back to life and sees Billy smiling at him. He hears his friends calling him and runs towards their voice. They think Nelson is dead, but after some time he came back to life. His end phrase is,”It wasn’t such a good day to die”. Talk about the actors/actresses and discuss who did a good job and who didn’t.Provide specific examples that support your opinion. In the movie Flatliners, the actor Kiefer Sutherland had realistic acting that made the viewer almost believe that it was real. For example, the scene when he thought Billy was coming for him, but it was just some kids trick or treating. Hope Davis wasn’t the main character, but I think that she could’ve done better. For instance, when she found the tapes she should have had a stronger reaction to the situation. Julia Roberts also played her role well, like when she saw her dad on the operation table she screamed and ran out the door. The scene at the beginning where Kevin Bacon was trying to save the life of a patient, made his acting look realistic.William Baldwin played as Joe usually has good reactions to when he sees the visions of his sins. The recorder...
